I somehow doubt you were on the forums page. It is the button in the middle of the menu at the top of the screen...

That's actually funny. Why on earth would I make something like that up, lol?

Look, here's the forums page when zoomed out:

[atsimg]http://files.abovetopsecret.com/files/img/xt4f2c47fe.jpg[/atsimg]

So yes, I was on the forums page.

Anyway, I'm not sure why those forums are not showing up for you but yeah, they really should be. I'm sure a mod will come along and help you out soon enough though. Maybe PM one just in case they don't see this thread?

Why so sensitive?
I just think there may be a mistake made somewhere. You don't include your address bar in the screenshot either so it's impossible for me to verify what's going on...

Also, both forums (US Political Madness and US 2012 Elections) are absent from the text list on the home page.

Nevermind, think I resolved the problem thanks for checking for me.

Chrome extensions were the culprit.

i didn't know where else to post this as there is no thread for my question currently (as per my lazy 1 minute search of this board) and i cannot yet make my own threads. is there a way that i can change my account password? there is no way in hell i will remember the one you guys assigned me and i use multiple computers and would prefer not to have to search through emails to find it again.

if you guys need to move this post elsewhere i understand, just notify me of where it has been moved.

thanks

Hello, I'm newly registered, and enjoy ATS. Two things I'd like to see here, 1. A forum on mythology 2. Possibly mobile version of the site, or an app. Thanks

I would like for your youtube embed feature to change so I can full screen direct from the ats site instead of having to go to youtube to full screen a video.

Using firefox btw.

Hi all,

Self Embedding Video

I was posting on a competing site (shame on me for looking at LOP) the other day, and I just pasted a you tube URL into my text and to my surprise, the video was had self embedded once posted. I thought this was an awesome feature if storage space is not a problem. Even though I could embed the video into a post, I never do. Mostly cause I am to lazy, but some folks just don't care to learn how.

I really like this feature, as it serves the users with a preview, and the ability to stay on site (ATS should want that, since people can drift away once they hit the Youtube site). Think about this: One guy writes this code, one time, now every user posting a video benefits every time, the viewer benefits, and ATS keeps us on this site which would seem to be good for ATS.

Page Selection Location

When I surf ATS, I use the recent posts as my starting point. When I get to the bottom of page one, there is no area to select page two, and I must scroll to the top of the page to advance my search. What a PITA! Why? If it is to keep me on page one, I guess it kind of works, since I have to scan the most recent updates on my way up the list. I just can't see how having a next page option at the bottom of the page would be bad for business. Please explain why a site that has been designed so very well in other areas, is lacking this normal page progression feature seen on almost every other site on earth.

Sorry if this is old hat, but I did not find it searching.

I have no idea if it has already been requested/suggested (I would guess so) but the URL parser used by the forum appears "broken". Here's the best and simplest example I could find out of my struggles entering working URL's in posts.

This link should go to pastebin/somerandomcharacters but instead it gets changed to a non-working link. I can't see why as it's short and contains no irregular characters.
http:///D7sR4zhT
http:///D7sR4zhT

Maybe it is just a thing with pastebin links but I notice other more complex links full of weird characters like #, ! and others gets mangled too. I realise we can click on Quote to see the real link but I think an often used function like placing a link might be deserving of Staff attention as and when time permits.
Thanks for reading.

PS Links are visible in the text, click quote to see where they point.

I have a suggestion for future changes in ATS. Although I can hardly belief to be the first to think of it, I did a quick search for any previous simular proposals but couldn't find any.

What about this...

Would it not be great if that when you are 'enchanted' by someones thread or knowledge that when you go visit this persons profile you can select all hers or his threads which were rewarded with an applause.

You see, this happened to me and I did not have the time to investigate all of the 2435 threads this person has just to find the two rewarded with applause.

PS. will I be notified when my proposal will be rewarded?

In the hopes the powers that be at ATS are still keeping an eye on this thread, I have a suggestion and it's something I'm sure starting to feel is badly needed.

How difficult would it be to save the last x number of avatars that a person has used on their account to display on their profile page?

I've seen some off or just plain out of the norm posts in the past couple weeks. Many of them in fact. In at least a few cases they are people I can see by the mini- have been here a good while longer than I have and have high activity numbers but also an avatar I've never seen in passing. I'm a visual person who'll remember a face for decades but forget a name after a short time of not needing to recall it for a specific reason.

Now one of the people I consider a friend here changes their avatar fairly regularly and I know over time it's a rotation that comes back around. It's actually kinda cute to see the members who do that for the creativity the avatars almost always have. I can't help think there are at least a few though who know full well the disorienting effect changing avatars to something radically different in theme and character can have on everyone reading their posts...and not realizing it;s someone with a history either good or bad.

So.... How hard might it be to code in a little gallery to address this and perhaps time based limits on how often it can be overflowed to rotate images out permanently? Thanks for any who may read and consider my idea.

You can make a folder in your computer with the member's name and save the avatar, you can even add a date to the file name.
Or you can save all avatars from all the members you want to follow with the name of the member, you can even add a date to the file name. Something like "Wrabbit2000 2012-04-06".

Oh very true...that would work well on smaller sites. I probably over talked my point. I kinda have a habit of that sometimes. (innocent smile). I meant this in the way that over time there are probably a hundred or more folks that I key on by now on avatar alone. Far too many to go hunting through directories if I'd had some reason to record that image to my HD before at all. However, when the one post comes up that strikes me weird..that is when seeing what other, more familiar avatars the member used before would help. It's kinda that catch-22 of not knowing there was a need until there is.

I'm a little circular in logic here..I know...and it's because this really is with a real specific user in mind and for that reason I'm trying to be deliberately vague. It isn't about 1 person.....but could become that way with a poorly worded comment on this.

The Avatar switching to play a poor-man's way of 'starting over' to be even more annoying is more than the one, to be sure.

(Some switching that way even choose multiple future ones that have very low contrast and almost obscure the name itself, entirely.....mini- too...now that I think about it.)

I also look first at the avatar, but as there's the possibility (although highly unlikely) that, one day, every member chooses the same avatar (or no avatar), I also look at the name, the only unique way of identifying a member.

PS: I have seen more than once two members with the same avatar.

Android application.

Mobile web fixed up. As far as I can tell it is still in WML? The images don't show up as links to the image and the same with videos. atest topics do not work and it is way too basic.

Gemwolf asked me to bellyache on this forum, instead of opening a new thread. So here goes....

ATS prides itself in having a fancy looking website with all that eye candy. So far so good. But in the process, ATS seems to have lost the basics of functionality!

Some things are a pain. Like:

1. How do I find my last post in a thread? It sucks when the thread is as long as the Nile. When I go to 'my ATS' and click on the 'favorites' thread (where I had last posted) it is impossible to find it! Trawling from page one to infinity sucks! We don't have the darn time for that! There's another way but it's easier finding your way through the Amazon rain forests than the cumbersome procedures out here!!

Suggestion: I should automatically be sent to my last post on the thread on clicking the subscribed thread in 'my ATS' and NOT the first page of the thread which makes absolutely no sense!

2. Each time one needs to highlight/bold/headline/italicize etc a certain part of the text, one is sent to another pop up window where one's required to cut /paste that portion in the space provided. This sucks!

Suggestion: Like forums on other websites, the portion of text required to be bolded/italicized etc can be highlighted and the relevant button on top of the post clicked. That's it! No separate windows, no cut and paste etc!

3. Posting YouTube and Google videos are again a pain in the a$$! One needs to cut the portion from the '=' sign onwards and then paste that part of the url on the post!

Suggestion: Just copy and paste the entire goddamn url of the video on the post. That's it! (Like on other website forums).

And then when you want to paste a smiley after you've finished writing your post, it doesn't land up where you want it! It invariably always ends up after the last word on the post! Damn!

As for me, I go through the painful time consuming drill of doing everything manually here - in this century of automation where life is supposed to become simpler! Geeez!

We've had enough of eye candy graphics on ATS. Now it's time ATS makes our lives simpler! It's not rocket science. Most all good websites have this, why not ATS?

There's more but this will have to do for now!

Don't know what to say about #2 & #3,

but #1; go to your profile page maybe then you will see just your posts and then you can find your last post in a thread.

Can ATS expand the New Topics page to many more than eight? There is room for at least twenty on there, and this would give users and readers much more of a look at what's newly posted (I'd guess most visitors and readers have never clicked on the firehose or even know it's there, so what they see on the New Topics page is it).

Thanks.
