Excellent idea. I was thinking along those lines myself after reading a couple of brilliant threads yesterday. A way of following that poster's other
threads without having to visit their profile every so often would be useful, although they're normally on the recent posts page anyway.
On that note, a way of finding a certain member's post within some of the larger threads would also be handy too. For example a thread on a recent
UFO story that is 23 pages long and all you really want to know is what Internos, Phage or JKROG08 or anyone (just the first names that popped in my
head, there are loads more) have posted because you don't have time to trawl through the posts of them all. So would a text recognition system that
could filter out pointless flaming, might be a bit tricky that one.
I was also thinking that there should be an annual awards event too where people could vote for their favourite threads of the year, maybe top three,
which could be collated and ordered. The winners would receive some ATS gear as prizes and some digital reward to boost their online identity. Maybe
this would inspire people to have a go at more interesting threads and would slowly remove the "Foghorn Leghorn Actually Symbolises the
Antichrist!!!! - AND I HAVE PROOF!!" threads that some of us find as contributory as syphilis. Other awards could include most helpful member, avatar
wizard; and the FSME badges could be altered to be relevant to their field, or fields.
I searched for awards and saw that there had been some debate over it. I don't think annual would be to strenuous, and would be good for the members.
But not running an organisation myself, I wouldn't know the logistics in implementing such a scheme or it's eventual product open to all the abuse
of any election...
When's the next ATS game, anyone?
