I have sufficient evidence that shows that there was a mess up with the judging according to one of the rules. As stated in Rule #2 the format had to be as follows- “Forum: Member” and with #9 which states spelling counts.
As I went through the contest I took in consideration this very rule and made sure that my posts had this correct. As of xeros who finally and fairly placed all FSME list in order and correct, I found that he did not have rule #2 into consideration. All though afterwards, he took into consideration this and did fix his list and with and added color.
Rule #2

Xeros took first place, and all decisions are final.

However, ragster has presented evidence that there may have been an error in the judging.

Is ragster right? What do you think?

Here's the official word from Majic:-

WE HAVE OUR WINNERS!

Well, I'm still a bit woozy to be officiating such a solemn event, but what the heck.

Since there seems to be agreement among the contestants, I will hereby, henceforth and wherewithal proclaim with utmost pomposity the winners, awardees and beneficiaries of this most official and important-looking PTS contest.

They are -- as thoughtfully enumerated by Mechanic 32 -- as follows:

www.abovetopsecret.com...

quote: Originally posted by Mechanic 32
1. Xeros
www.abovetopsecret.com...
2. ragster ("infinite" instead of "intrepid")
www.abovetopsecret.com...
3. Kellter (FSME names not quite right)
www.abovetopsecret.com...
4. Mechanic 32
www.abovetopsecret.com...

xeros #4. has an edit.

I herefore, therefore and everywherefore do award the following points:

1. Xeros: 10,000 - First Place

2. ragster: 5000 - Second Place

3. Kellter: 2000 - Third Place

4. Mechanic 32: 1000 - First correct guess

5. Mechanic 32: 2000 - First post to correctly name all winners.

By the power vested in me, ipso facto, non sequitorum pluribus maximus, et cetera, ad nauseatum, I have verily and forsooth awarded these points in accordance with all the associated mumbo jumbo appurtenant thereto.

Congratulations to the winners for showing off your excellent research, analysis, reporting and gaming skillZ!

The winning members will be featured in the official PTS FSME announcement this evening.

Two thumbs up. Nicely done.

But Wait! There's More!

What if we made a mistake? Oh the horror!

Thus let there begin the last phase: the Doublecheck Phase.

Here's the deal:

1. Discover, post here and successfully convince me there's an error in the judgment of this contest, and I will award you 2000 PTS points.

2. The prize will be awarded to the first post which proves an error to my satisfaction.

3. The offer remains open until this special prize has been awarded.

4. Subject to my discretion, yadda yadda.

So if anyone suspects there was an error, I invite you to check and -- if you prove there was to my satisfaction -- 2000 PTS points are yours!

Kind of like a professional audit feature.

P.S. And I gave redmage 200 PTS points for being a good sport. Also, I reserve the right to hand out a few consolation prizes to any member who has participated so far in this thread as I go back and review it (tomorrow). You know, just to be nice.

P.P.S. I hope you had fun with this! I'm experimenting with different methods for running contests. Did you like this one?

So ragster might still be able to get 200 points if Majic agrees that my "Politics of war" (small w) was an error.

Majic, I say reward ragster for his sharp eye 2000 points.

But then how do the positions stand ragster???

No reward just for including NWO to the list?

On sportymb, he had intrepid spelled wrong.

On the other case, my threads as of what has been posted by Majic as the winning 3 had Xeros post in there as the 1st place that had a unformatted post, and as for in second place ragster had the correct format in all.

But in all reality xeros won fair and square with the correct list, but unformatted list.

Its all cool though however it is.

I agree Sporty should get something. I believe him and I thought the contest was over. He could have posted a revised list right after I brought it to his attention but we were already guessing who had won. I could have easily double checked my FSME name spelling but thought it was over. Im grateful just for getting my 2000 points.

I say Sporty should get points also.

Thanks! I feel sorry for me too!
Seriously though, I though it was over before I posted the second time so I never bothered coming back to check. I'm kicking myself in the rear for it now, though! I knew I should've but I was tired.. Oh well, maybe next time!

Congrats to the winners, though!

Unfortunately not, I double checked it here

The number of correct FSMEs shall be 17. Neither shall it be 16, nor shall it be 18.

Posts with any more or less than 17 FSMEs -- and they must be the right ones -- will not count.
(bolded by me)

ragster

WOW! Nice eyes!

I can't believe we missed the formatting on the colons and the "w".

I said "and the game continues....." and I believe you just won yourself 2000 extra points.

Congrats!

Match Point

Hear ye! Hear ye! Ye Grande Courte Of Perpetual Hindsight is now in session.

I, Magistrate Majic, having heardeth the case presented before me, doth ruleth as followeth.

Unto ragster, whose diligence in the face of adversity exposed what may well be considered a possible Royal Boo-Boo, I award the sum of 2000 PTS Points tendered in the coin of the realm.

Furthermore, since it pleaseth me to do so, I do hereby award the following pointseth:

Jenna 1000

Kellter 500 (which bringeth thee to 2500 total, to give thee a little extra bonus for hitting third)

SportyMB 1000

redmage 800 (which bringeth thee to 1000 total for this episode for thy good sportsmanshipeth)

And, to consoleth them in their immeasurable grief:

semperfortis 500 (not even close, but thanks for tryingeth)

TONE23 500 (for giving it a shot, even if thou missedeth a buncheth)

For it be fitting in my sight that these things shall come to pass.

Therefore, and forsooth, I do hereby officially and most pompously declare this Contest to be consummated, complete, finished, terminated and dispensed with for now and ever anon, henceforth, ad infinitum.

Congratulations unto all, and Good Show, and whatnot.
