I'm not there because I fought in Lebanon and Panama and a few other little countries not worth mentioning.

Like you, I have served my time in Hell and yes, I have shed my blood for my country, to give the likes of 'yeah right' the freedom of speech he or she so eloquently uses.

The war in Iraq is wrong, my friend. I know you guys are loosing more per day then we Brits are, but we are still hanging in there with you, but Guy, we should never have gone in in the first place.

There are/were no WMDs no matter what the 'black' people now say;

Rumpsfeld's old company sold bio/chem and radiological equipment to both NK and Iraq;

The USA and we Brits [along with the French, Germans and NKs] supplied Iraq with all sorts of military hardware with which he used to invade Juwait and then put down the Kurds.

The USA gave Iraq carte blanche to invade Kuwait if they won the war with Iran, then stabbed Hussein in the back when he did so and this is the reason why the Shi'ites have rebelled against US policy in Iraq now.

I serve my country, then after the Marines I fight on the streets for the next 20 years and all you got is shame on me? I've spent more time in the bathroom in uniform than most people ever have in uniform and I have served proudly and still do.

I am a proud soldier and police officer and I fight where my country tells me too and will again if called to do so.

Just because you and others like you want to jump on the "illegal" war band wagon because it is the "popular" thing to do these days, does not mean that the rest of us are going to be drug around by the lips as well. There are a lot of us that believe in this country and what it is trying to do, though not so many on here. There are at least 130,000 in Iraq, so I am not alone.

I believe in my country and what it is doing, and just because you believe different does not make me wrong.

I am not for the war itself, however while our "boys" are out there I will support them to the fullest.

I wish that not another human being had to die in Iraq or anywhere for that matter, but if someone has to go, well... you know...

Having said that, this war is wrong. We were dupped, no lied to, by our 'leaders'. We started a new precident in our history, that being the 'pre-emptive' strike, and that precident was established on lies. We have invaded and are now occupying a country based on lies. If the tables were turned, wouldn't you defend your country and want the invaders out?

Now before you ask, I'll tell you I have never served in the military. But, that does not mean that I am not entitled to express my opinion against the war. I have that entitlement because I am an American. Having said that, I support the troops. I do. I want them to finish this war and come back home in one piece. Problem is that this 'war on terror' has no foreseeable end and your brothers are dieing in greater and greater numbers... fighting for our leader's lies. Frankly, I am surprised more veterans aren't speaking out on behalf of their brethren against this stupid 'war'.

I'm sorry if I'm offending you. You shouldn't be offended. I'm not speaking out against our troops. They only take orders from our leaders. It is the leadership that is at fault, not the troops.

I have to admit I was worried I would set you off. I appreciate you being open to hearing both sides of the issue. I really do feel in debted to you and anyone who serves this great country. And I really appreciate what you have done to secure a place to live freely for me and my family. Thank You... from the bottom of my heart.
But with respect to this war, I can't just go along with it on faith in our leadership alone. I just don't trust them. I don't have time right now to go over all the reasons why. I suppose they've been talked about ad nauseam on this site anyway. Plus somehow I don't think I would change your mind anyway!

At present my friend, I have 38 1/2 years in uniform and will shortly be 54 years old. I have served in Northern Ireland, Oman, Borneo, Cyprus all during so called emergency 'policing' actions.

I have more qualifications than most people in the UK armed forces today and when I had to leave, I was gutted.

Missed out on Bosnia and Kosovo and although I volunteered for Iraq (GW1), I was considered too old - yet they had a 60 year old squaddie in Kosovo!

Yep! I too give 100% support to our troops in Iraq and many of my friends are off to Helmund Province in Afghanistan in November, but start work up training Monday (tomorrow).

At present, I have a very good mates in Basra and quite a few 'black' mates dotted throughout Iraq and Afghanistan who don't seem to 'rotate' as you Yanks call it, but it looks as if they're there for the duration.

My own views of Iraq are well known.

How can a guy like Rumpsfeld sell NBC technology to dubious dictatorships around the world; arm and train their armies and then when the mood suits, turn on them for having WMD?

It don't make sense to me Semper.

Having said that my friend, we have to stay until the job is done but far too many people are getting very rich on the conflict whilst parents, brothers and sisters are burying their dead.

Let's just get the job done as quickly as possible with the minimal loss of life - or Iraq will become another Viet Nam for you guys.

I just realised what yeah right meant:

I think what he means is that as per usual, all those in favour of the war (the politicians etc) are safely out of 'harms way', safe back home and making millions whilst you guys are doing 'their' dirty work for them.

But the difference is that little Kim is lying and the U.S. IS the greatest country in the world. I've lived in different parts of the world and can assure you that the U.S. is the best from my experience. You don't see millions of illegal aliens running to Mexico or N. Korea do you? Case closed.
