Mayor Nagin whose only seeming qualification for public office is his skin color has lost control of his city once more and is requesting that the national guard come in and restore order

www.cnn.com...

NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana (AP) -- Mayor Ray Nagin asked the governor Monday to send National Guard troops and state police to patrol his city

Maybe it is time to just leave that town to the criminals. They ran it before Katrina (highest murder and violent crime rate in the country) ran it during Katrina (see all the fraud with FEMA money, etc) and are running it again.

Wall it off and and the next time it floods let the criminals drown like rats. It will do society a favor.

Martial law is the system of rules that takes effect (usually after a formal declaration) when a military authority takes control of the normal administration of justice.

I find the entire idea to be absurd. The biggest problem I see is that it is the police departments problem! There aren't even that many people here as compared to before the storm. Why would we need the national guard? He does want martial law, though. He has called for it time and time again. Then again, you should see all the people here that are screaming that they want martial law, mostly because a plant gets stolen off their front porch and they want to cry about it or something like that! Welcome to the prison city folks, my city, my home, my own little police city.

This is the news article.

You got it. In fact, Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson made sure they bussed all his "friends" in from out of town just to make sure he won again. Then they bussed them right back out again. Talk about fixed elections........what a joke. And here he is whining and crying again........

It's sad. I just had three people calling me to tell me they are so happy, because they are scared and the National Guard is going to take all their fears away. One even had the honesty to say that he would easily have a problem sacrificing any liberty just to know he was safe. Scary.

Woah woah woah.

Nagin is asking for people to come and help keep things in order he is not puting the city under martail law thats entirely different as Lysergic pointed out. The police force is at an all time low and crime is still as bad as always. But as for new orleans being the crime capital in the US no thats not true. Althoug it is like number 3 or something close it is not the worst. I believe actually Washington D.C is.

When it comes to crime ratio though new orleans has the most crime for its size or the population to crime ratio is higher than anyother US city.

AS for Jesse Jackson bussing in people and what not thats entirely absurd. As absentee voting could have happened in Huston or anywhere else so if a fraud was wanted they didnt have to come into New Orelans so who ever told you that is lieing.

Obviously I am not saying that wasnt possible as I jsut showed it was more than possible but there would be no need to ship people in so that story is complete bupkus.

Prior to Hurricane Katrinia the city of new orleans had about 3 officers for ever 1000 people. Now the police force has been cut nearly in half and that means that for every 1000 people they have 1 officer about on average.

that is why Nagin is asking for outside support because crime is terrible and the police force has not even recovered.

After all who the hell wants to be on teh police force is a crime capital making 8.45 an hour when they can go to McDonalds here and make 10.45 an hour just to make burgers. (yes that true in new orleans there are so few workers starting pay at a mcdonalds is like 10. 45 with a 500$ signing bonus)

There were many people that were bussed in, to vote. The group that did it was Acorn. I think you must have missed all news channels and the Times-Picayune, because yes, it was there, repeatedly.

Nagin does not ask for martial law? Are you kidding me? You must live in the suburbs of New Orleans, and they must get different news than those in the city. Nagin has again and again requested martial law, including being clipped on CNN at one point after the storm saying "I keep calling the president, and I would like to see martial law declared."

I don't see how you would want to tell me to get my facts straight when I live in the city itself, and see it every day.

A lie, eh?

LOL, I think its funny. Evertime something happens people are asking for
help and not doing anything before hand to prevent this sort of thing. If
the mayor had any brains, he would have done something. But...he dosnt...
hence the city is a crap hole, it was before the hurricane, this is no surprise.
The fact that the people have no education and act like animals.....I dont know
if thats the feds or the state to blame. But its well known in america that the
place is an infested # hole.

You aren't going to get much credit when you contribute nothing to the thread except belittling the people that live in the city and those that live there. Yes, it should have been taken care of but the mayor was elected.

Mizar, no prob my friend, it just gets emotional and I try very hard to keep that out of my postings when it comes to this subject. My apologies if I was offensive in any way. Nothing wrong with the best bank.

Even up here, we heard the rumors about the NOPD. During Katrina, more than a few of them walked off the job so that they could get their families out of harm's way. I don't blame them for that, personally. More than a few who didn't suffered terribly, and a number died or committed suicide.

Plus, look at the pay. Who is going to take 8.45$ an hour to police a free-fire zone? I mean, I got more as an unarmed security guard for Christ's sake.

No wonder the NOPD is having trouble keeping its ranks full.

It is low, though, but not as bad as some areas. Wages are unfair down here, and along with that rents are super high now. Supply and demand yes, but when you make 7.50 an hour (not me), you can't afford 1000/mo rent for a small place.

Mizar, it is such a mess isn't it?

He doesn't. Not only is he stupid, but he's a criminal.
Heck .. he's a stupid criminal.
And now he's got his ego all puffed up.
So now he's a stupid egotistical criminal.

I dont know if thats the feds or the state to blame.

Blame Nagin. It's 'his' city. Well .. his and his criminal friends.
Blame the Gov. It's her state. She's an idiot as well.
The Feds? They've got a hand in it as well .. but most of
the blame lands squarely on Nagin and the gov.

It actually comes out to about 15 and a half bucks an hour for a full police officer NOPD Salary

Certainly not worth it at all!

Black activist groups like the NAACP also had a huge hand in it. They had displaced "black" voters bussed back into the city (for a day) and then shipped right back out again. Yes, it was all over CNN the day it occured. What isn't fair is that many of these displaced voters were brought in and will most likely never come back (cause they can't afford to), so they'll end up becoming a citizen of Texas or Mississippi or whatever (not New Orleans), but their black vote was cast for Nagin to bring his butt in office again. If "whitey" had done this (bussing) to win the vote for a white mayor, the shiznick would have hit the fan. I'm sick of this crap! Reverse-racism. One day it's all gonna change........
