Hey guys heres a quick update. I'm going to have to do this in two posts because of my character limit.

We are just under the 24 hour mark since the first quake of this series started and the current count is 99. Theres still about 20 min before the actual 24 hour mark so we may get in one or two more.

17 Quakes that were 4.0-5.9 (in the yellow)
70 Quakes that were 2.5-3.9
(they do not measure anything under 2.5)

This is just the 24 hour mark from when I first started watching these quakes. They still seem to be coming at a steady pace.

BTW Yossarian, love the avatar

you know this seems amazing and all, but if it were a big deal, why isnt it all over the news? I tried google news even and found 1 result that talked about the 6.3 last night, but that's it. it obviously isnt a big deal.

U have been keeping my eye on this thread throughout the day and I must say , you guy's are on top of it, great and very informative thread!!!!

Hope nothing bad becomes of this, even though there are some pretty in touch people discussing the earthquake situation seem to know what they are talking about.

I'll keep checking back for more information, not my field of expertise, if you know what I mean/

Absolutely. Right now it is not a big deal, but this amount of significant activity on the skirts of the ring of fire is very unusual and could be the beginnings of something. There are no news stations on Rat Island and I am willing to wager that no one cares right now. That region is a very delicate tectonic formation and is linked to the pacific northwest ie British Columbia, Seattle ETc....That region happens to be long overdue for the big one. Not saying that it will happen, but this activity is very unusual.

From all the information we manage, it would be helpful to make a summary...

Am I right if I say that there is an increased -- movement -- at the Ring of Fire

No. These quakes do not necessarily indicate an increase in the subduction rate.

Depth: 1,00 km

....

Alright, thats pretty darned deep. The slab in the region is intact up to around, apparently, 150 km. It extends further, but breaks up apparently beyond that.

In the report I read

Was it online, do you have the address?

and, they believed it COULD have an effect on tectonic plates

The forces involved at the plates are astoundingly tremendous, HAARP is something that can affect ionization of airy gases.

I've been looking into Pole Reversal for some time

Why would a change in the magnetic poles be a connected to tremors in the crust?

Telos
As glaciers melt they lighten the load on the Earth's crust

This is what actually results in earthquakes in new york and the north east, the rebound of hte crust from the previous compression of the ice age ice sheets. The glaciers and ice in alaska aren't melting away anytime soon. Either way, the subduction of the plates will be the dominant characteristic there.

but if it were a big deal, why isnt it all over the news?

Don't rely on the news to pick up on anything subtle, or to communicate anything complex or technical. I don't think that this is particularly alarming, but even if it were, the news wouldn't necessarily report on it.

Why do you beleive that?

Mainly because I have not seen such frequency in plate disruption, variance of depth and magnitude nor I have I seen such consistantly violent tectonic/volcanic action. Indonesia is generally active, but usually not in connection with the Aleutians.

But you're talking about the whole ring of fire in the above.

the following is an exerpt from a site called brianspredictions.com and his past earthquake predictions have been somewhat vague but suspiciously more than chance

"The quake will happen at 4:06 AM on a Thursday of the year 2006, and will be a magnitude of 8.2. There will be several small earthquakes starting 4 days before the main event. The first will be a 3.9, when this happens, there will be 4 days until the event. Two days prior to the main quake, a 4.1 earthquake will be recorded. Other details are drawn above, but I do not know what they mean."

my first thought response was it can't be possible how could it

my second thought was i wonder how i would feel if i slept in san fransico tonite

Yes. What I am illustrating is that normally one edge is more active than the other ie Indonesia vs Aleutians. RIght now, the whole ring seems pretty upset.

I don't have a great understanding of geology or magnetism, so correct me if I'm wrong.

Magnetic fields are (roughly ... not getting too scientific here) caused by electric currents, or the movement of electrons. The magnetic poles (or rather, earth's magnetic field) are caused by the currents inside the planet. There seems to be some debate about whether it's the solid mass at the center or the liquid outer core that actually produces these currents. Those in the latter category state that the center mass cannot produce a stable magnetic field because it's temperature is hotter than the randomization point of iron's electrons .... i.e., there can be no steady electrical charge in any given direction because the electrons don't necessarily stay in their orbits.

I don't pretend to know how the liquid outer core produces the field (I could only find a limited amount of information on the subject) but I can see how everything possibly relates:

outer core changes -> electric field changes -> magnetic pole changes
outer core changes -> volcanic activity -> earthquakes

Now from what I understand there's alot of theory and presumption (as I said my science is nowhere near sound) in what I just stated but I can see how everything COULD be related. And I do agree that even if quakes and pole changes have the same starting cause, the occurance of one doesn't necessarily imply the other. Just something else to think about.

Thats enough for 11 every day.

Well, I came online and saw the headlines, yes there are many quakes here. I was gonna say what you posted, (there are many quakes here, and daily)if it means anything I live 45 m N. of Anchorage and I haven't even felt a tremor. Augustine is a volcano south of me, it has been rumbling and spewing for a while now, no effects 200 miles North, where I am. I think a little ash floated in not long back, and they closed a few airports for a short time. Two years ago we had a 4.9- it made an impresion with me especially as we were asleep in the basement bedroom, when I awoke and I saw everything moving I was alarmed, no damage though.

RIght now, the whole ring seems pretty upset.

Ah, apologies.

fiverz
outer core changes -> electric field changes -> magnetic pole changes
outer core changes -> volcanic activity -> earthquakes

I'd buy that, in broad terms like that at least.

However recall that most of the quakes were focused at depths that seem to possibly correlate to the subducting slab (or at least are within the range for the 'intact' slab, according to one paper at least). So they might simply be a result of the natural movement of the slab.

Very interesting. Could you put up a link to the prediction?

I believe this and this is what the poster was referring to

WHen there is such a fequent variance of range between depths it is viable to argue that the the upper plate that is resisting the lower plate is suffering strain throughout its tip (no joke please lol) and thus causing tremors throughout.

True, I didn't think of that. I was actually thinking more broadly anyways and got away from today's events
Just because the tremor is centered at 1km (or sensed to be centered there) doesn't mean the pressure didn't originally come from 50km below or to the sides of that epicenter. I liken it to a wooden ruler ... apply pressure underneath and it will buckle until it breaks. Doesn't matter what the proportion of the variables in that equation are (small, shallow mass with great acceleration or large deep mass with slow acceleration) ... the force is the same.

And since it's just a theory anyways, who's to say that depths of 1km do not affect the magnetic field in some way? I don't know if it's possible, so someone call me out if it's not.

I also had thought of the possibility that maybe some of the quake sensors had been compromised somehow (damaged, computers gone haywire, etc.) but there is data from many stations that all show the quakes. Whatever the answer/outcome, this is very interesting stuff.

EDIT: horrible grammar
