Ah, Spira, I came home from work last night and partied like a fallen Mormon...I had a great cup of CAFFEINATED coffee, thus I was able to stay awake a little longer than usual. Man, I understand why Mormons stay away from that stuff.

Rusty! Rustereno! Quit babbling here! That's my job. Sit down in that special corner and enjoy the show. Play a little music if you'ld like. Hey, what do you call it when you have another Mountain Dew. ...dejaDEW! And if you hit another cow in the road ... Yes, deja MOO! Of course, if you're Spira's sister, it's deja moose...

Yes, Spira, it's the truck still. Our mechanic thought he had the problem solved, until he took it for a test drive. It's all that electronic stuff that's on vehicles nowadays, but since we love that truck, and MrD understands the problem (just not able to actually do the work on it this time), we'll wait.

Even though we're not out there, I promised to tell you something about Our Lady of the Rock.

You see, we camp just on the other side of the hill from this place. We witness the procession and activity if we're out there on the 13th. It started out really small, a rock literally, and now there's what I call a "baby basilica" being built. I have yet to see the Virgin...and certainly there ain't one on our side of the hill Although I'm not a mixologist...and you can certainly tell by my ingredients...I invented a drink, a Virgin on the Rocks, ouzo and blue curacao over cubes. Great sipping on a warm Spring day at the campsite, on the 13th.

Rusty, the way you first talked here when you showed up, I thought, he can't be a Southerner...where's the southern drawl! You had a certain style, short clipped sentences. Now I hear ya!

Ok, time for desert to go back in the closet!

that sounds pretty good desert - and also pretty

on the 13th of any month - or just this month?

hopefully you'll be out and over on your side of the rock soon

Strange day indeed, Spira, strange day indeed.

Deja mousse! Brilliant idea!

Yes, it's any 13th, whether 20deg or 112deg. Even if one were to call the vision an illusion, the intensity of the faith and devotion is real.

The conjunctions that are most amazing to me are not the conjunctions of planets in space but the conjunctions of people and events here on this planet. The illusion of planet alignment pales in comparison to the reality of people and event alignment.

Hey, you know that tv commercial where the guy pulls a car out of his damaged car trunk? Well, I just told MrD, that I think I just pulled another condo out from under the stairs. I forgot how much I stored in there. And I found a neat skull candle!... for next year's Halloween. But I did find some neat Christmas candles, and a candle left over from my candle-decorating-days.

Well, back to the closet!

OMG...freakin' out!...no nazis in the closet (their headquarters are reported to be about 15 miles away from here, seriously and shamefully)..., but I did peek at my Beatles mementos I store in there, which does include a John Lennon doll, and his book, plus my Beatles tennis shoes and pillow. Well, the box is wedged in there with my sons' mementos, old tax returns, and my Spode Christmas pieces. Spira, did you know that John Lennon claimed to see a ufo in NY?

Anyway, I'm making progress, both under stairs and in garage. Mostly rearranging boxes, ala deck chairs on the Titanic, but it's all coming together.

1-2-3 cake....nope...but there was something my mother made where you make a well in the flour and dump in the rest of the ingredients, then stir.

Speaking of well...I bet my neighbors would have dug a water well on the moon for a case of beer. A deeper well would have been a case of vodka. Kind of like Waco, when all the govt needed to do was set a couple of guys out front with a six pack to report on the comings and goings of the compound...

Back to the closet and garage. More Drudgery Report later.

you are cracking me up desert...

every time you come up for air

will go more in depth later, but for now - you know what I keep hearing and seeing in my head - every time you disappear into the closet?

Ok, I've charged up San Juan Hill for the last time today. lol

My next task is to go through a file drawer and throw out any paperwork for any electronics etc that I threw out years ago.

Anyone do anything more exciting this weekend?

Hello all.

Well Desert....I just took the missus out for dinner for her birthday with my step son. The food was excellent and they sang Happy Birthday to her in Spanish after the meal.

Tomorrow she's doing Vegas for two days with her girl friend. I, being who I am, am unable to go to Vegas and have a good time. I have a bit of an addictive personality. I'm pretty sure I shared this with y'all in another life.

You know, I like the name Rusty James. I just may keep it if I can stay.

I would like to say that I appreciate hearing from everyone here. I have been having a tough time all around lately and it meant a great deal to me to hear from you all.

God bless!

Ev'nin', RJ. Right nice weather we're havin'. ... Did I just start talking with a Texas drawl? I do that when I talk to a man whose first name is composed of two letters...AJ, CJ, TJ, JT....

Almost thought my head was going to get stuck in that file drawer. I filed into the folders, and now MrD can go through the folders. Made time to sit out on the balcony with the cat. Trees across the street are in full Fall colors. A beautiful display this year.

Hey, Rusty, are you familiar with the book, When Society Becomes An Addict, by Anne Wilson Schaef? That book helped me to understand so much. Truly, knowledge is power.

Hey, Rusty, I get the feelin' like maybe you're runnin' from the law or somethin' like that. You know, you're safe here. If you ever need to hide quickly, just squat down to the height of this here barstool, and I'll sit on you. The lights are pretty dim. I'm sure no one would notice.

Not familiar with that book. There are lots. You're going to sit on my head? Can someone take my picture after Desert sits on my head?

When are the principals on this site...specifically Springer going to answer me? I have been waiting for almost two weeks for a response to my complaint. It says 2 days for a response.

SPRINGER...if you banned Excitable_Boy just come out and say so. Otherwise...who changed my password and who posted posts as me??

Sorry to rush in here, eat the breakfast buffet, and rush out, but MrD and I MIGHT be going to the desert this weekend. Our mechanic thinks he MIGHT have found the problem, and the truck MIGHT be ready today. MIGHTY good news at this point.

Hey, Spira, you gave me an idea..,watch out, watch out...I would like any artist and poet out there to put stuff on my profile page. Yes. Good stuff. Yessss. It could look like I did it. Heck, sign it with a "d", I don't care.

Sigh, I gave up a long time ago trying to be artistic or crafty. I realized I was born to be an appreciator of stuff, not the producer. I learned the hard way, and I apologize to my friends and family for every one of my sad creations I ever foisted on them. Mea culpa.

Thanksgiving greetings to Spira, whaaa, and all you patrons out there in the shadows. Rusrty, I got this wishbone in my hand, and I'm gonna wish you'ld return.

Our mechanic said MAYBE our truck would be ready last weekend. Almost. Fixed one problem, then up pops another one. So, for this Thanksgiving holiday and weekend, he laughed and said, NO WAY!

We're disappointed, but we can't complain. All else is well, and so we can only be Thankful.

So, Spira, you make a living being artsy. That is so neat! No, I do not have one full ounce of artsy talent in me. That gene is not only recessive, it's, like, gone.

We viewed both Macy's and Chicago parades, then made the traditional meal. Both boys are at the younger one's home for the holiday. We talked on the phone, and they recalled their holiday memories, which included me in the kitchen cooking and watching the parades at the same time.

I can hardly wait to see the White House Christmas special this year. A reptilian overlord could be POTUS and I wouldn't care, as long as the Xmas decorations are hauled out and put up...oh, and the White House baker makes the gingerbread house with marzipan pieces.
