There has not been a confirmation of actual gunfire... sounds more like fire crackers to me. Only one witness... I mean... it is probably nothing, a hoax, just like EVERYTHING else

Thats Googles bin Hijacked news beat. Eric is covering the coastal areas this month with tsunamis and volcanoes and Googles has all the inland Eastern Seaboard State Capitals as well as the Rayburn Building as part of his news beat. I think its been a full moon for an entire month.

Strangely, last nite(25th may) I dreamt about ufos...all ova the skies, but only me & 2 of my friends saw it. Strange...because my dreams are usually of some relevance to reality.

That site is funny; the links they have to prove they are right do not show anything to prove that they are right.

Isn't it though? You have links to readouts from buoys, and I don't see a single wave near this 40ft wave they are claiming is there.

But the best part, they talk about how Bush/Blair were having talks about the impact and what to do... and their proof was the "secret source" and a Yahoo! news article stating that they met up with each other (which we already knew anyhow).

Wow! What interesting news, the kind that you can make up without any form of proof. But I suppose that is a conspiracy in itself, the proof was stolen, or hacked off of their site, which of course is the only place they stored it. Never kept a hard copy. These type find the best excuses.

Needless to say, I will not be buying his book.

Yep!! That's exactly how they keep this stupid hoax going, relying on simpleminded individuals who don't take the time to read full stories, click on links and do their own research.

Rather stupid imo to change and alter your life because you fear death coming on a mass scale like this. I can understand not going to bad neighborhoods late at night, not doing drugs, etc, but running away from life because some guy claims an alien told him something Btw I'll be spending my weekend near the water. Sunday I'm going to concert at Bayside in Miami which is right on the water, so if it happens, I'll see you guys in the next life, but I'm not worried, my interplanetary, interdimension spirit guide gave me this face when I asked her about this and the next thing I know I was overwhelmed with in my head.

Actually I thought I read somewhere that the Earth would be closest to the comet fragments days later in June. I'm not sure about that though. However, I don't think we need to be in fear. I believe NASA is tracking all of the larger pieces. If they knew a city killer size rock was going to impact, I don't know what they would have to gain by keeping it secret unless the policy is to never tell.

Even if NASA kept quiet, I wouldn't be surprised if someone else leaked information out or saw it coming. Odds are more likely for an object to hit in the Pacific Ocean anyway since it covers more of the Earth's surface so it has better odds. Saying an object is going to hit in the Pacific Ocean and not do any damage is not going to get as much attention. Someone could make more money by targeting the audience for maximum impact so to speak.

Of course I guess there may be a few people who actually believe any guy on the internet with his own web site claiming secret alien knowledge about a great disaster. If he could prove that he has gained some other alien knowledge first before the tsunami prediction, I would be paying very close attention.

One day NASA may announce that a large rock is going to hit and we can't do anything about it except evacuate affected areas. I'm certainly not hoping for that day though. The city killer size rocks are much harder to detect meaning everyone will have less time to evacuate. I'm just hoping there aren't so many people crying wolf that a real disaster happens when something real hits and no one believes it will.

It's been official for a few months, if not longer now. Even when the comet started breaking up, the smaller fragments that were potential threats stayed more than far enough away from the Earth.

Yes, NASA's policy is to keep quiet, actually. At least up until the last few moments - maybe a day or less before impact. Why? Well, if you were told months in advance, what would you do? Most people would riot, go on killing sprees, and basically all the bad stuff people want to do but don't because there's a chance they'll get caught and their lives will be over. Now, if you know your life is going to be over anyway, what's to stop you?

On the other hand, yes, there is the chance that the information could be leaked out. Though I don't know if it would be leaked from NASA, but as you said, other astronomers. In reality, we're a chatty bunch. If someone spots something, the first thing they do is call anywhere and everywhere they have the phone number to that can immediately confirm the sighting. From there, those places call other installations that will see the object later. Eventually, the news would travel around the world in the astronomy circles. Then people, upon realizing the truth of the matter, would speak out.
