No Word Limits Beachcoma. Just know that we're not looking for a full length novel

How long or how short should the stories be? How many words would the 'recommended length' be?

There is no minimum or maximum length for this contest, Beachcoma.

Just remember to base your story around 5 lines of lyrics from a song you like...rock, folk, classical or hymnal...I don't think it matters what you use.

Your story will then be judged by how good it is, not how long or short.

Don't forget to add (MUOC) to the title and good luck

edit to add...what worldwatcher says...

That could be a problem.. If you noticed my sig, the type of music I listen to doesn't really have any lyrics...

NVM, I'll think of something

Post them in this thread or send U2U to a member?

Apologies if this has already been asked, I read through and did not notice it.

Beachcoma, I'm actually working on my piece, and it's to classical music. It doesn't matter if you have lyrics- part of the reason this is a challenge is that should you NOT have lyrics, you will need to use tempo more heavily in your piece. Like I said, personal props if you don't use lyrics.

Are you allowed to submit more than one story. Mine are generally very short anyway. By the way great idea, fairly new here so have been waiting for an opportunity to have a go.
Cheers.

That's a good question, mojo4sale...I'll U2U DeusEx and ask him. Reading the first post in this thread, it seems he's saying 'a story', but we'll let him answer. Good luck in the contest.

Ahh, sweetness! Alright, I'm in, I've got just the beat and rhythm in my head for a story. Probably will submit it in at least a weeks time.

I've got some other writing work to do at the moment... boring articles about wall sconces... being a web content writer is not all that fun

Beat and rhythm??? Leave it to me to only read this thread more thoroughly until AFTER I had made my submission.

Oh well, I had fun writing it. In fact, I think that was only the second short story I have written in more than 20 years.
(The first was also on ATS, more than two years ago, and of course there was that whole collaborative zoo thing...
)

That was fun guys, thanks for the opportunity.

Love the other entries too.

You can still slap a rap
with the beat of your feet,
a sumptuous rhythmic tap
quickening your heartbeat.

DeusEx has raised the quota to two (2) entries per contestant.

I've sat out the last couple of competitions Vagabond, Thats why my first story just hit the board. I hope to write a couple others before the deadline, just to add to the mix.

Good luck my friend, I have no doubt you will do well.

I just wanted to put in my two cents:

Everyone, so far, has put forth exceptional work. I hope to see more of the same. From Vagabond's passionate Blood to Intrepid's period piece Barett's Last Privateer, I am consistently amazed by teh talent of all you authors. So, everyone, keep it coming!

Go on. Make this hard for me and WW.

Behold! Two templates for everyone. I wrote one piece with the full lyrics to a song, the other to a song without lyrics. Enjoy.

Three days left. Really enjoyed posting and reading other submissions. Excited to see who will come out on top.

Alot of deserving writers on this one, would not want to be in the judges seat.

Good luck everyone.
