I love to see the names of all my favorite college bands in print again...

For some great road trip music check out:
Death In Vegas kinda trippy love child of dead can dance and pink floyd
also chemical brothers have a techno influenced roadtrip beat

and for some sure fire party favorites, try the atomic polka stylings of
brave combo hard to describe except by saying "everybody loves an atomic polka"
great fun, and the band played David Byrnes wedding, as well as playing themselves on a simpsons episode where they were the octoberfest band.

You would have to be living under a rock to have not even heard of any of those, with the exception of the everlating gobstobbers, or too religious.

The master website: www.digitaldreamdoor.com... I've probably spent a cumulative 8 hours on and off this website. Just a great website.

If your into metal (ie: power, heavy, progressive, melodic, classical, symphonic, thrash) a good place to start is : www.darkelucidation.com...

If your looking for similar music try amazon.com; there's a section there that has the caption: "people that bought this title also bought...."

I have a few bands/artists that nearly everyone I know haven't heard of.

Rammstein : Heavymetal/industrial german rock band. My favorite too.
Combichrist : Industrial techno group. I heard them first at a goth club I
go to.
Jimmy Rip : Pure, old fashion, really good blues.
Frank Klepacki : He did the soundtrack for Command and Conquer. It's the
kinda music I listen to before I head out for a paintball
match. Dunno what to call it, battle music maybe?
Dresden Dolls : Two piece "dark cabaret band". It's different, wierd, not
bad at all.
White Zombie : Industrial band. Good heavy music.

Check out some of the songs at

anyone who is into goth, rock, metal or even a bit of pop or electronica might like it. Hope you do...

Cheers

The Pixies

They enjoyed some success on their own,
but are credited for inspiring the whole grunge style.

There would have been no "Nirvana" without the Pixies.
I highly recommend a good listen for those who have never heard them.
And for those who have, get out your CD's and listen again...
There is rock history, in those sounds..!

White Zombie and Dresedn Dolls, yet more great lesser known bands.

Rammstein aren't THAT small, are they? Du Hast!

Alien Ant Farm's awesome, very good band. I like them a lot. They did an excellent cover of Smooth Criminal.

And I wouldn't consider Foo Fighters small
I mean, Dave Grohl, former drummer for Nirvana? I don't know anyone who hasn't at least heard of the Foo Fighters.

I've met Dave Grohl, BTW, great guy

mojo4sale, Clutch is a great band. very original style and their lyrics will force you to really think about they message they are trying to convey. I am sure everyone on this board would enjoy the song "Burning Beard" on some level.

Amon Amarth is a good band if you are into the metal stuff.

Cibo Matto

it means food madness

they have a bunch of chill songs

lyrics to the first song i heard by them:

Know Your Chicken

16 years ago, one day,
I was walking down the street
I was cruising in Brooklyn
You know what I mean?
Something was cooking,
but wasn't yet a chicken.

There was a man,
Selling chicks in a box.
He said, "2 for 1, but 3 for 2."
I said, "That's not bad,
Here's money for you."
One was magenta,
The other was blue.

I know my chicken
You got to know your chicken
I know my chicken
You got to know your chicken
I know my chicken
You got to know your chicken
I know my chicken

One day, the blue one went away.
The other grew up #in' well.
She was noisy every night.
I had always chicken-bite.

Then I met a lover
One night, she made me dinner.
Licking finger, I wondered
Where she got the chicken.
Then I met a lover.
One night, she made me dinner.
Licking finger, I wondered
where she got the chicken.

I know my chicken
You got to know your chicken
I know my chicken
You got to know your chicken
I know my chicken
You got to know your chicken
I know my chicken
You got to know your chicken

Spare the rod and spoil the chick
Before you go and # a brick.
Spare the rod and spoil the chick
Before you go and # a brick
Spare the rod and spoil the chick
Before you go and # a brick
Spare the rod and spoil the chick
Before you go and # a brick

I know my chicken
You got to know your chicken
I know my chicken
You got to know your chicken
I know my chicken
You got to know your chicken
I know my chicken
You got to know your chicken

She went to college to study anatomy
I followed her father's butchery
We got 2 babies. Is it cool?
One was magenta, the other was blue.

I know my chicken
You got to know your chicken
I know my chicken
You got to know your chicken
I know my chicken
You got to know your chicken
I know my chicken
You got to know your chicken
I know my chicken
You got to know your chicken...

Paisley Riot Myspace to listen to their tunes

Thanks for the plug mate!!

There are loads, and loads of superb bands bubbling just under the mainstream in the UK.

Arctic Monkeys and Kaiser Chiefs have broken through, but there are plenty of bands catching them up. Here are a couple of examples:-

Bromheads Jacket
Unbelievably good live. Kind of a cross between The Clash and the Streets, with indie rock flavourings. Very realistic, witty, and anecdotal lyrically and bursting with energy musically.

Milburn
Little Man Tate
Two new Sheffield based bands that are similar in sound to the Arctic Monkeys, some great tunes and lyrics again.

Some other bands you may not yet be familar with
The Arcade Fire
Canadian six piece indie band. Their 2005 debut album, Funeral was an instant classic, leaving stars such as David Bowie clamouring to work with them. They have a unique sound, driven by guitars, piano and violins. Its emotionally charged, yet upbeat in its melody and rhythm: sublime.

Ocean Colour Scene
OK, most people (at least in the uk) are familiar with their hits of the mid-late 90's, but not so many people are aware of the sheer depth and brilliance of their catalogue of b-sides. Its often said that you can tell if a band is trully great by the strength of their b-sides. OCS then stake a solid claim to greatness with songs like Robin Hood, Mariners Way, The Clock Struck 15 Hours Ago, Huckleberry Groove, Mona Lisa Eyes and a couple of albums worth more.

Kasabian
Proper rock and roll band with an indie-electro-baggy sound. Compared to the Stone Roses by many. They are the Gallaghers Brothers' favorite new band. They are phenominal live, mindblowing!

CHECK THIS SITE OUT
www.Pandora.com
It basically solves the problem of finding new music. Just plug in your musical interests and it does all the work for you. Very extensive and extremely easy to use.

Some of my favorite new and relatively unknown bands:

Matisyahu- Hasidic Raggae, you must listen to King Without a Crown and Chop 'em Down

Raconteurs- Jack White from The White Stripes with Brenden Benson and others

Augustana- Mellow alternative rock, try listening to Stars and Boulevards, Boston, Wasteland
