Here is a link for a news article i found a couple of days ago: BBC

in summary it basically explains People who claim to have been kidnapped by aliens have a tendency to believe in fantasies and suffer disturbing experiences in their sleep.

They go on to explain that "abductees" also believe in their experiences so deeply that they display real stress symptoms similar to those of traumatised battlefield veterans.

One person describes there experience of being abducted

I've had several encounters with alien craft and I've had an alien implant removed from my body BBC

Please visit the link provided for the complete story.

The article explains about Lab experiments that have been conducted about alien abductions and there is also a part at the bottom where people have posted there comments.

I hope you enjoy this article

Any comments guyz and girlz??

Thanks for reading

I think you misread the article.

It states that it is all in there head and they say that the people claiming to believe they have been abducted believe so much that they show the same symptoms as a war vet with post traumatic stress syndrome.

They go on to state that they are prone to fantasies and are highly suggestible.

If anything this is stating a strong case against real abductions.

Might want to read it again.

By the way welcome to ATS.

Many abducties do gather in groups and speak out of their experiences. I would expect that to influence a lot of stories, and make them similar.

right finally at work now. Just want to opologise about earlier again and i hope i didnt get anyones hope up. Wont happen again.

Thain Esh Kelch, Why would you say that it is more likely that they have similar reactions and experiences because they meet up alot. Would the fact that they all just went through the same thing not be a simpler reason why they feel the same way?

IF abductions are so widespread, and indeed true, then why hasnt anyone caught it on tape? People claim to be visited numerous times. I know if I was nabbed by some aliens I would take preventative measures against future visits, or at least set up a web cam.

I have yet to find any evidence to convince me that this really happens...anyone care to try and persuede me otherwise?

I can't relate to most other people who claim multiple alien abductions. But if what they say is true I hope it doesn't happen to me. However, you would not expect someone who has not experienced the abduction to really understand. He may be a doctor or a scientist but that doesn't mean he can think in a way that leads to truth. He knows how to play the game. He knows the politics, etc. on how to get a degree. Don't believe everything you hear. He's no more believable than someone who claims to have been abducted. Many people who claim to be abductees are liars and scammers. But someone who has really been abducted is in a much better position to understand than someone who claims to be a scientist or a doctor. They don't think any better than we do.

2 possibilities....

1) Self sustaining delusions always come up with a reason.

2) The reason aren't a delusion.

The logical answer is 1 since self sustaining delusions over many many other things are known. Be is aliens, demons, cults, people, or any other things, many people report similar stories. One side will tell you it is all aliens, another will say it is all demons.

Even if people are being abducted, if you can't prove it or stop it, then why bother telling anyone, because it won't help. If aliens can abduct you, disable video devices, and remove all physical evidence, more people knowing won't help you, just make you look crazy. When someone chooses to look crazy for no reason, this is a sign of a mental issue.

Thus supporting option 1. To the "victim" it IS real. I don't doubt them, but logic dictates as observers we deal with is as a delusion. A self sustaining one.

I still don't buy it. I keep a glock 23c loaded under my mattress in case of home invasion, and my home has never been robbed. If I was abducted I would have two of 'em. I refuse to believe that people just deal with being kidnapped and probed and prodded by aliens rather than defending themselves.

If it was only a case or two I might believe this, but there are thousands of people claiming this happens, and continues to happen to them, yet they are powerless to stop it? What would you do?

Better yet, has anyone reading this ever been "abducted?"

Most abducties report a 'blue' light which puts them in a state of paralysis.

Abductions don't always happen at night. Most of the famous cases actually occoured with 1 or 2 people fully awake.

I think that it is now clear that sleep paralysis and similar psychiatric issues
can yield experiences which appear to be similar to many "alien abductions."

I propose to discount ET abduction reports which occur:

1) starting when the abductee reported being asleep
2) not witnessed by other, fully awake, non-abductees

More substantive reports would be "wide-awake" abductions, witnessed
by multiple people.

I guess Travis Walton was suffering from sleep paralysis and sleeping problems when he was abducted infront of like 5 of his co-workers.

All that is needed is ONE legit case, to prove that the phenomena is real.

Its hard to see sleep paralysis as the cause to all the abductions. I have suffered from sleep paralysis for as long as I can remember and I dont think I have ever confused what happens during sleep paralysis for anything other then what it is. Out of 1000 cases of people suffering from sleep paralysis I can maybe see 1 case being reported as an abduction.

But on another note, sleep paralysis can scare the crap out of you. Everytime I get sleep paralysis I feel like someone is watching me or is in my room somewhere even though I know im alone. So i'll lay there with my eyes open just looking around the room unable to move.

The best I can explain sleep paralysis to someone that hasnt experienced it is just lay down and daydream while your awake. Then add in the ability to not be able to move and the feeling of someone watching you when you open your eyes.

BTW, I have never been abducted. Just trying to shed some light on the subject. Bit if UFO's are extraterestrial in origin one must consider the fact that most cases of abductions are real.

To presume abductees are people who are prone to fantasies and are mentally ill however temporary is totally irresponsible and only shows a lack of professionalism in its approach, a tendercy to jump to prejudical conclusions amounting to questionable credibility on the interviewer or researcher.

Even in Buddhism, Earth's most extreme religion in the belief of attaining Nirvana - to desire for nothing, which itself is an oxymoron:- to desire for nothing is still a DESIRE, monks fantasize about nirvana too.

Which normal human being dont fantasize at any point of their life?! A camping trip, a beautiful partner, a scholarship, a new car, a new washing machine, a new house, immortality, etc ...

It is most unfortunate that once again, abductees are subjected to ridicule for being interviewed. It is most common that there would be hoaxers amongst us in the case for UFO, just as there will be black sheeps in the corporate world such as Enron. Only those who had been abducted can faced up to the reality of their own experience, for not many in the world has shared such experiences to offer knowledge, comfort or condolences.

As long as govts are not willing to confront the UFO issue openly, genuine abductees will be doubly punished - first by being abducted on what is slowly becoming an acceptable truth, the reality of the aerial phenomena, then by society who disbelieves their words and subjected to permanent ridicule.

I can't say 100% either way.

I have had several times where I lay down to go to sleep, still very much awake and suddenly I go numb and can't move.

I struggle to move and can't, next thing I know a couple hours have passed and I find myself standing in the living room at the door that leads to my balcony, or on the couch in the family room.

I don't immedietly jump to aliens, but I don't 100% discount it either.

I have done several sleep studies and have not been diagnoised with sleep paralysis nor have I ever been known to sleep walk.

But then again just tonight ( I work 3rd shift) when my alarm went off at 630 pm to wake me so I could call my son to tell him good night I hit the snooze button instead of getting up like I normally do and while I fell back a sleep I dreampt that I called my son, when the alarm went off again I got up and had to check my redial to see if I called him or not. it turned out I did not, but I would have sworn I called him, that little mini dream seamed so real.

The mind is a very strange thing, thats why I don't say 100% either way on the issue.

I know someone is going to probably flame me because I don't pick the most likely option that its all in my head, but something tells me to keep an open mind on the subject.

By the way I can only recall 2 or 3 times that the abduction / sleep paralasys thing has happened to me in my entire life so its not like I am going around and having this happen every day and thinking aliens are after me.

...Why abduction? If the Goverment knows they are here and we have places like Dulce Base and stuff, why would they take humans aboard their craft? It makes no sense to me. Women saying that they were impregnated with "alien human hydrids" it sounds too crazy. Don't get me wrong I believe we are not alone, but I don't believe in abductions or crop circle having extraterrestrial connections. Those peole are crack pots or disinfo agents who have done so much harm for the cause.

there was a video that came out on ufo files that had to do with a group of military men seeing a ufo visit their base on different occassions. it landed and they all circled it and photographed it and then it took off after a couple minutes right before their eyes.

the next day they returned and youd think there was some kind of marking from the ship landing there, hot engine right?

NO crop circle was to be found. none. just the small leg holes that the ships support system left in the soil.

i mean youd think all ufos ''leave crop circles'' but nope, this one didnt.

wierd.

These are all extremely common affects of sleep paralysis especially the one where you dreamt about ringing your son etc. So there is no reason to believe that it had anything to do with alien abductions.

For more info on sleep paralyis visit this site: en.wikipedia.org...

Anymore people believe they have have experienced alien abduction?

Yea, anybody else?

I am not baiting to flame anyone, I promise. I have tried to keep a very open mind about all this. I even got a couple katz convincing me that crop circles may be real. I am open to it, I just refuse to play ball without some evidence.

I know some pretty good story tellers.

Electric equipment like cars, phones, radios and cameras tend to fail. The abducters don't want evidense about their activity...
