I understand what you are saying but I, for one, don't find the government to be so far up my kazoo as you do

I think all your arguments are valid but each one has to be handled one at a time. The smell of fast food
makes me hungry and maybe there should be a clean air ordinance against it but that is another fight. This is about kids and 2nd hand smoke.

You drive your cars on Gov't roads, therefore they have the right to tell you what you can and can't do in them.

If you just cruise around your yard, and driveway.. do whatever you want.. if you drive on the roads, you have to follow their rules.

And my point is very valid, even though there is alot of air outside, I still get second hand smoke in my lungs whenever I walk by a smoker.. especially the asshats who blow it directly in other peoples faces.

I swear to god next person that does that to me, I'm going to punch right in the face.

This is a bit of a stretch:

You drive your cars on Gov't roads, therefore they have the right to tell you what you can and can't do in them.

And who exactly do you think pays for these roads?

Back to the topic.
I guess overall it makes about as much sence as Child seat laws. Even though any rational person would put a small child in a child seat there are those among us who are just too stupid or irresponsible that laws need to be created to protect children from idiocy.
If I had a child that young I would not smoke in an enclosed space with them nearby. It's really just common sence, something all too rare these days I guess.
