6.1 Christmas Island, (one to watch)

SYDNEY: A large earthquake with an estimated magnitude of 6.1 struck on Tuesday near the Australian territory of Christmas Island, the US Geological Survey said.

The quake struck at 20:58 local time (1928 IST) and its epicentre was located 191 kilometres east-northeast of Christmas Island, the USGS report said.
