And Jedi's are not soldiers - they are KNIGHTS.
You know what a Knight is right?
Yes. A military man - a soldier. Dress it up any way you want, they still use physical aggression to fight their battles.
From Dictionary.com:
knight
Abbr. Knt. or Kt. A medieval tenant giving military service as a mounted man-at-arms to a feudal landholder.
Abbr. Knt. or Kt. A medieval gentleman-soldier, usually high-born, raised by a sovereign to privileged military status after training as a page and squire.
Abbr. K. A man holding a nonhereditary title conferred by a sovereign in recognition of personal merit or service to the country.

Just like the RAF and the RN , we are the only country which does not have "country " in its name.
Why?
Because these are the queens troops, not the UK's.
The british army on the other hand rebelled and is mistrusted by the crown over the other 2 services.

Your tone is very upset, are you a Royal Marine as well? I see your mood set as ashamed. Is this the normal carry on? Do you condone this or despise it?
As always, looking forward to your input.

By the way - knight or soldier - apart from the supposed chivalry aspect (which really never existed as most were mercenaries), would you like to state the difference? The fact remains that both are men trained for war and both use the art of combat to achieve their ends. For the purpose of this topic, that comparison is all that is needed.

And the Comparison was way off.
Comparing a Jedi Knight and a Royal Marine is not really Smart.
Jedi Knights are a monastic peacekeeping organization, more Monks then Soldiers - they are Philosophers and Priests, Warriors if they really have to be. They follow a Code, which could not be more different then the ones of the Royal Marines. They are not some petty mercs, which you hire to slaughter some civilans. They are more Kung-Fu Monks, which know many ways to kill a Man with their Bare Hands, but do not do it when ordered. THAT is the difference. Go above and read the Tai-Chi meditations which Kung-Fu Monks use.

I can vouch for this after seeing 3 of them jump naked out of a 2nd storey window at a party where they then proceeded to have a bare-assed race up and down the road. All the while greeting passers by with a hearty "Hello".

Yeah? And how do you know that Obi Wan doesn't go out on the town, get mortal drunk and play *edit* with his mates after a hard day's fighting the evil Empire?
He's halfway there already anyway. He wears a dress.
