Naked Marines forced to drink alcohol, eat soiled food, fight each other, get pelted with eggs and roll around in thorn bushes.. and the MoD says they're just letting off steam


Hey, this is just getting Better and Better.
First it was just a couple of Drunken Marines, Beathing each other, Naked ofcourse. You will say, Hey its JUST another, Silly Initiation - and it increases these Marines bonds. There is a show on MTV, where College students do just about everything for 100$ - even eat their own Vomit. We have seen that on the show Jackass and on English version Dirty Sachez - where alot of Alcohol and alot of Pain are intented to be "Fun".

Still - there is one thing in my mind: if these Marines are having such "Abuses" among themselves, imagine what they would do to the Enemy Prisoners? Conventions, Law go out the Window...

But if you ask me, Colonel Bob Stewart, who commanded British forces in Bosnia, nailed it when he said:

"It's wrong and horrific."

BS. British Forces are probably one of the best armies in the world when it comes to handling POWs and obeying international law.
Unlike the Yanks, we found out a long time ago that a "Hearts and Mind" approach is the best way to deal with a captured enemy or a contested territory.
In Southern Iraq, where British Forces are based, the coalition has a good reputation with local people. There isn't 1% of the trouble that US forces and their "shoot first,ask questions later" approach, are facing elsewhere.

As for the second report? The fact that the Marines are "letting off steam" goes to show that they control their aggression. It may be hard for some people to stomach just exactly what they do get up to for "recreation", but then those people aren't highly trained killers who belong to one of the most elite forces in the world. If you have problems with that, try finding a group of Marines and go out on the beer with them. It will open your eyes. Most of them are nice guys but they see the world in a totally different way to the rest of us.

In the video's all you can hear is laughing all the way through it. Its shocking to people outside of the forces but these guys live,sleep,*censored* & die toghter im sure that being nanked in front of each other really dosnt bother them & getting a beating isnt much of a problem either otherwise they they wouldnt be there.

Its a reason why they wear a Green Beret & we dont

I think this is just complete demoralization taking place.

Sort of like what you see on sea merchant school here in Slovenia with the newcomers, oh or the scouts as well. Once i witnessed the initiation into the scouts, and the newcomers were spanked by older scouts so hard their butts were blue for a week

it wasnt pretty.

oh and what they do to the new sailors every year is even worse, they drag them all around the city by the seaside, dressed as girlies, make them eat weird stuff, beat them, throw them into the sea who knows what else...total mockery....

its not as violent, but it still shows the human psyche at its worst

It is surely a situation that was out of hand, but then these guys signed up for the toughest infantry training in the British Armed Forces.
To be honest I wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of any of the 'Hazing' or 'Drunken fun' (Whichever you prefer) but then I am not someone who has passed 30+ Weeks of gruelling training and conditioning.
These are they men who mount amphibious raids and may have to tear out a fellow man's throat to stop him raising the alarm. You can't molly-coddle them.

But NOT for the Army! Army NEEDS Wars. Army WANTS Wars. And if you are a Military Corporation you must do EVERYTHING and ANYTHING in order to keep Selling your product to the World.

Wars today are just being waged for Profit.

Not for Democracy.

Not for Freedom.

Just Profit.

Because the World is becoming a Capatlistic Society and therefore Wars are the reflection of this Capitalistic Society. With few Expections ofcourse. As is another thread in this forum suggesting, that when CHINA will start a war, it will be for Land Grab - apparently there is no more room in China for the Chinese people...

Last time I looked, most conflicts in this world involve people who aren't trained soldiers but are members of militias or terrorist groups - but you should know that already as your tag says that you are a "guerilla", right?

And while you're at it, why don't you get rid of that avatar. The Jedi are soldiers. They use violence as a means to an end. Spouting rubbish whilst having that sit under your name makes you look like a hypocrite.

Let me guess, out of 6000 men you expect 6000 men not to be toss pots at one time or another? Most of them are blind drunk, hell drink does this to people.

Also, if this has been going on for a while then why the hell is it only coming out NOW?
It would have been more hurtful coming out around the same time as the army bully and suicide case was released.

I bet GI Joes just love that kind of stuff. It's also good for training, in extreme conditions you might be forced to drink your own urine and maybe even eat your own poo, might aswell learn to accept it early on.

man that's why i would never join the army...it's bad enough u have to worry about possibly going to war and gettin a limb blown off, but this crap is just sick. I'm sure the military has done worse, and it's probly even worse in other countries, but dam that stuff was just unnececary.

Yes. I've already stated that most conflicts take place without the participation of soldiers. Go take a look at Africa. Or Asia. Or South America. Or Central America. Doesn't leave many continents where non-soldiers aren't killing each other, does it?

Yes. History shows that they would, but they wouldn't need to, would they? There are enough guns floating around for them to use. Of course, they could use the "Force" to throw crates and stuff at each other but I don't think that would be as effective.

Love cannot conquer all if the other guy hates your guts. I don't see that as being too hippy - just plain realistic. As for being blind? Maybe you need to study your fellow man.
