NOPE, sorry. I saw Mars, it is faintly red, appears more distant than this things and is located at approx.
220 degrees South West. I last spotted the object to the north.

YOU PEOPLE, are not listening to me. I am not blind or disfunctional. I left that family, ok.

Nothing wrong with me a few jack and cokes or a good woman couldn't fix...temporarilly of course.

It' not mars, it's not natural. It isn't the "Goat star".

What it is, I do not know. I hope to find out though.
I already posted my comments on this, does anyone in the northern hemisphere drink sane..err clean water?

Are you really concerned what this object in the sky may do to you or are you just suspicious? And isn't there any info on that object in astronomy journals?

you know what, Advisor, I saw that thing too on Monday night. it was exceptionally clear over Detroit that night (I was at home), and my and my brother were outside smoking and staring at this object that we couldn't identify for the life of us. it was not a star or a planet, and it wasn't an airplane. I kind of wrote it off when I first read this topic because I figured we didn't see the same thing, but now I'm thinking we did.

Well I got bored, so i took my compass and binoculars (sold my only telescope a few years back) and went to check out the area of they sky, and sure enough I think I saw it too. Since I didn't have the benefit of an actual telescope, I couldnt make out too much detail, but I did see the changing colors mentioned. Definately an odd one, perhaps a amature radio person could check to see if its a registered satellite on some of the tracking software they tend to use.

Most of you are NOT getting me...

Ok, this thing is NOT natural.

It moves out of sequence with the rest of the sky.

Stars generally stay in place from what we can see of them. This object appears closer, and it stays at the same elevation above the horizon.

Anyone who has studied the sky a night or two will know this as common sence. People who have actually studied can confirm the celestial heavens dont change position by over 100 degrees in one night! I see this thing with my eyes. Again for posterities sake I will repeat;

I am not trying to get vicious here folks...but you are not reading what I am typing. I am a straight shooter, do you think ATS wants mods who are crazy...err don't awnser that! NetChicken don't count...

It's not the F-n MOON!, nor Mars, (mars is a red dot, no flashing), or the GOAT STAR!, not a Binary, trinary or quadinary star system! It is man made and it flashes multiple colors... If this thing is not man made, it's time to worry. It could be a s l o w sat, but I have never seen a sat with that many colors. Only thing I can fathom it being at this time is the space station. They are the only object I know of that would need lights like this thing has. Heck if no one claims this object soon I am going to name it:

DMCO
Driving Me Crazy Object!

Seriously, two members here have finally admitted they think they saw this thing. I have given the headings, and asked for nothin in return exept for confirmation.
Many of my friends up here have seen it also. They don't know what it is, so I am going to find out.

PLEASE, do not second guess me on this. I know it is hard not to do, but you ALL have to believe me on this one. I am going to be able to get a good view of it soon, the weather up here is clearing up but only for a short while. If I can get pictures I will.

I still need to triangulate this object, MC, Alternateheaven; you two if you saw this thing, and you beleive it is the same, it probably is.
As I have never seen anything like it before.

Ok, I may also be able to verify this thing Advisor. A couple nights ago 2 maybe 3. It was North low in the sky, just above the roof of my nieghbors house. I stood just outside my door facing north and my nieghbors house is directly across from me(a col-de-sac), single story so at the angle it was very low in the sky. In fact I don't recall any other stars even close to the same location. It was very bright on the other hand, like a bright star, but flashing obvious colors. I even called my girlfriend out of the house to look at it cause while looking at the stars at night some often look like flickering colors. This was obvious colors though, unlike typical stars. I can't recall the time sorry. I was giving a ride to someone too otherwise I was going to stay and watch it to see if it moved. The only other thing it could have been was a distant plane but it didn't seem to move at all the short time I watched before I left. When I returned about 10 to 15 min. later I couldn't find it.

I watched this thing all night one time. It never moved.
Next night sure as a devil dogs bullet, it moved but only a wee bit. It stays at the same elevation but seems to rotate counter clockwise, not sure though as I cannot get enough headings and times. And mine are all broken up do to weather.

I'm glad you all are seeing it, perhaps the rest of the members here will see the light also....pun intended.

Oh, just so you all know, I have been awake since friday mornin. Not to look for this thing, even though I did see it, at the parties I was at. I was too trashed to drive though so no stats. I might try and beat my 116 hour no sleep record. But I doubt it. I want to get rest so I can stay up for the clear skies to night, so a nap may be in order soon....maybe.

Hey Advisor! Maybe it has something to do with what this geezer(Newcomer; HereItComes) was trying to tell??? Just struck me!

Someone hack this farker and pump him for some info?!

Nope, he said his object was new. Or that they had just started tracking it. This thing has been visible by the naked eye for some time now. And it is close to earth, meaning between the moon and the magnetosphere.

I thought the same thing as you, but after a min I was like nope. Not close. I u2ued him though and hope he isn't just pullin legs. Because I can give him exact compass headings of this thing, and apparent elevation to horizon.

Interesting indeed, Advisor... gonna be eyeballing this thread...

Just to make a crack...

It's a bird! It's a plane... NO! It's....

Seems to somehow apply to a lot of posts around here?!

Seriously, though; anticipating some solid info on this....

hey i think i know the thing you're talking about! you said it flashes colours and flickers and all that? yeah i've seen something just like that in the night sky. i see it in the north eastern sky. i've noticed it for years now.. i always assumed it was a star for a while, but it always does seem to stay in the exact same place every night... i can't remember if it stays in that one spot the whole night... next time it's a clear sky i'll keep an eye on it. i can see it from my deck of my apartment quite easily.

i don't know if that is the same thing you are talking about though.

I just noticed that a few days ago. I like the bright blue color it has along with a few of the other colors that it has.

Its very possible that it is a new star being born. It would be millions of miles from earth if that is the case. New stars will pulsate and show differant colors. We can see them with the naked eye.

One thing about this is if it is a new star it is really a very large one.
Because stars are like small suns if it is in our galaxy it could make this galaxy extremly HOT. Unless it is at the further end of Pluto or Charon. Still it looks very close to earth, it could take thousands of years to form. There goes the end of the Milky Way.
Too much heat could offset the rotation of the planets.

One other thing, which I don't think it is would be is space junk. Some of these objects can be pulled into earths orbit. About a year ago there was a large piece that circled the earth on orbit just like the moon. At first they thought we had a second moon. I have no idea whatever happened to the object. Maybe its still out there.

Was it China that just sent up a space craft or are they still in development?

I see a similar light here in Woodbridge Va but to the east right between the Gemini twins to the left of Orion and the moon rises to its left around 1 am this evening.....this light is Saturn. This might not be what you are talking about because it moves to the south east, but, it does blink some cool colors and looks like the lights from planes on the flight pattern from Dulles Airport Check out this link and go to the interactive sky chart and see if its the same thing.

Also Saturn is self lit.....It puts more light out in to space than it takes in from the sun and has been reported seen in day time and through clouds when other stars were blocked. Combined with the sun reflection and its own light it can play a pretty bright light show

I've also seen a pulsating red object in the northern sky around here. I don't really have any idea what it is, but then again I haven't really thought much about it. I kind of figured it was probably just the space station or some other ordinary satellite.

Dude, I know what you're talking about. I've seen 2 of these now. One is in the western sky just after dark and sinks FAST over the horizon. It's NOT a satellite, it's too bright to be a satellite. Satellites blink one color. NASA doesn't put multi-colored lights to run like a marquee on their satellites.

There's another blinking star in the North/East sky. This one stays stationary. It blinks like crazy--white, red, green, blue. I got my telescope out to see if I could see a pattern, but couldnt really tell. I'd have to get a real strong zoom on a video camera to look at it in slo-mo to see what the pattern is, if any. This is TOO BIG to be a "star that twinkles", and way too freakin blinky to be one of our planets. We all know that.

These are friggin spaceships. No other explaination. If you pay close attention, most of the stars in the sky are blinking now (they didn't used to do this, if you remeber rightly). But there are a few that are out of control multi-colored Christmas lights kind of blinking. No planets in our solar system do that, no stars in our galaxy do that.

We're not alone, we'll have some interesting visitors soon, and who knows, maybe they'll kick Bush out of office.
