How Many Believe in God?

What I find intriguing in my own observations is that when something bad happens, a person will suddenly blame god or stop believing in god.

Then what follows is more bad events for that person.

So you've noticed that the worse and more intense a person's emotional level get, the worse things get after.

We are so indoctrinated to induce and keep emotions that are on a level that are less than good, that it isn't funny anymore.

Not so!!! Nothing bad happened to me when I decided there was no god. In fact, I practically # diamonds, most of the time. Don't give me that superstitious BS. Luck is what you make of it.

I've found exactly the opposite, with many people. The worse their life gets, the more they lean on their imaginary god. When things finally do get better (which they're bound to anyway), they contribute it all to their god.

What was that line from The Prophecy?

"Good things happen to bad people, and bad things happen to good people. Get used to it." (or something like that)

there is only thing that "annoys" me at times. in the past i've had several discussions with christian believers.

this was because i'm a kathollic myself, but only because of my parents. not because i choose to be.

i asked questions like "why does god do that" "what is his reasoning behind it?" "what is he trying to teach us"

when asking those questions i always got the same replies. "well god did that and because he did he excists" or "well god didnt do that and because of that he excists"

after several chats i understood. christians, no offense, alter what they see to sustain their religious believes. it doesnt matter if something did or did not happen they always find a way to turn it around to fit as they want it to be. it's like reading a horoscope. it's so vaguely described that you can twist it anyway you want to fit the events that occured.

i believe there is a higher "force" lingering around. but it isnt guiding us. it gave us free will and wisdom so we can decide ourselves what is right or wrong. we're in charge of our own luck and our own destiny. if God already set everything in stone...then why would he gave us free will and gave us acces to the Tree of wisdom? just because some choose not to use it has nothing to do with God. it has to do with your own choice.

One time, during spring break on a Florida vacation, I ripped a hotel bible in half. Some of my friends just stared in shock as I worked at breaking the binding and finally tore it completely in two. Later, I'd been partaking in several "recreational" activities, not to mention drinking like a fish for a few days, and found myself under arrest.
Some of those people tried to tell me that it was because I tore a bible in half that I ended up getting arrested. I'm sure it had absolutely nothing to do with the fact that I'd decided to take a fire extinguisher and start spraying huge white clouds of ABC chemical powder all over the hotel breezeway. A security guard saw me do it. It was a stupid thing to do, really. I was young, and messed up, but it was god punishing me? Somehow that never did make sense to me. Here I was the idiot who made the mistake, and I was the only one facing up to the reality of what caused me to be arrested. Do you see how crazy these religious people can be? Yet, if something bad happens to them, they don't think god is punishing them. They just pray harder. It makes no sense, I tell ya.

satyr that is something similar what i did....when i was young and naive

i was spoon fed religion at school. 8 hours a day starting with a prayer and ending the day in prayer. one day i was fed up and took my bible and tore pages out of it. placed some weed in it and smoked it up. it felt real good at that time and it showed to people i was fed up. at school when the teacher found out i was punished by expelling for a month.

when i did that i was about 14 years of age. puberty, rebellion you know the drill. we've all been there one way or another.

but now as i'm older i've learned more and understand things better. i still got similar emotions towards religion, but at least i understand it enough to respect it and let people be. after all no one is perfect.

but saying "i harmed the bible and god retaliates" that is just nonsense. i mean...isnt god the entity that is supposed to turn his other cheek or guide his lost sheep back on its path and be forgiving? no it is mankind that retaliates in the name of god because they find their religion so important that no one should be allowed to touch it. and if you do...well i got punished by my tutor at that time. but other countries got laws against it so you can be put in jail for a few days. i just find it all very narrowminded.

christianity teaches us to forgive, understand, respect and help one another. we were never in a position to judge each other and yet here we are judging one another till the end of time. even strong believers of christianity within this thread are so passionate that they are blinded and start to judge another poster.

You should learn how to read. I wasn't talking about your kind.

He's talking about a person thinking negatively and so attracting negative things...

TheBandit795 stated partially what I mean.

The other part is that many people do not take responsibility for their negativity & blame god for their troubles or something else external.

These type of people tend to be losers because they refuse to face up to the truth about themselves.

I believe in GOD Way:

i dont believe in any gods portrayed in any texts, if thats what you mean. sure, im open to the possibility. but i like to know that we create our own realities thanyou very much. try and prove that wrong, im open to debate. all in all, anything is possible. all right and wrong is individual, not divine or absolute. thats me. dfh out.

It breaks my heart to read all of the unbelief and half-belief.

Jesus said in the book of revelation that he wants us to either be Hot or Cold - Lukewarmness make Him sick!

1 Corinthians 2:14 - "But the natural man receives not the things of the Spirit of GOD, for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned"

My sister is agnostic/atheist - pity that you A's & A's allow your own elevated selfs deceive yourselves into denying what is clearly visible all around us - the fact that you are here speaks volumes as to the existance of GOD.

Man has from the beginning wanted to worship something - but man is stupid, instead of worsihipping the GOD of Creation - the instead worshp Creation as GOD.

Athiasts and Agnostics are just as religious in their "so Called" denial of the truth as a devout Christian in their acceptance of the Truth.

And as for "other" means of salvation - Only through the Cross and the Ressurected Lord can one find true peace, true joy and ultimately SALVATION!

I think almost everybody believe in God, at least once a while.

What people don't believe is "Jesus is God", did Christian see the context actually, or are you blind?
And what don't people believe is that God delivered by Jews. Do you see the context?

Hey Im 17 years old so I guess Im at that point where I question my religion...I know that due to the fact that I am 17 that I may not be the best at what my belifes are, but after spending 3-4 years trying to learn and study as mush as possible on many religons and their history. I have decided that the best catagory to place myself in whould be Agnostic. I was born and raised a christian, but as time went by I started to question. I began reading and spending hours a day try to have these questions answerd. It became sort of a hobby of mine. One main question being if there is a god and he is all knowing and all powerful then why are we here? Why do we suffer?. Around age 16 I lost my faith due to events in my life that won't discuss. I hope there is a god, but so far I have no reason to belive that there is one. I now belive in man...that the key to life is to strive for power and control. I believe in survival of the fittest...for in my reaserch it was them who survived and ruled. I would love a reply post either opposing or agreeing. If you have any questions please ask...and I would always love to learn anything that I haven't already found out on the subject which still is a lot. Thank you
