The United States Army Intelligence Support Activity (USAISA, frequently shortened to Intelligence Support Activity or ISA, and nicknamed The Activity) is a United States Army Special Operations unit originally subordinated to the US Army Intelligence and Security Command (INSCOM). It is tasked to collect actionable intelligence in advance of missions by other US special operations forces, especially Delta Force and DEVGRU in counter-terrorist operations.

USAISA was the official name of the unit from 1981 to 1989 ; previously it was known as the Field Operations Group (FOG), created in September 1980. In 1989, the then USAISA commander sent a telex "terminating" the USAISA term and his Special Access Program GRANTOR SHADOW, but the unit continued under a series of different codenames which are changed every two years ; known codenames include CENTRA SPIKE, TORN VICTOR, CEMETERY WIND and GRAY FOX.

They are poorly known throughout the genpop, but not so secret. Pablo Escobar, capture Saddam, the General DOzier kidnapping, etc... Probably the most interesting thing here would be they participated in the CIA's Stargate project, remote viewing etc...

Psh, my speshul ops dudes will beat your speshul ops dudes any day of the week!!!!11one

who cares? yes there are reports that SAS and other elite forces have trained our special ops forces, but the reverse is ALSO true...look it up. lastly, we need to work together in unison, not divided. you should be lifting people up, not try to get into a penis measuring contest.

...i had to. lol

but about 'grey fox', i believe there are units that we truly have not one idea about that exist to this day and complete missions we have no idea about. i wouldn't put it past our government, through illegal funds (cia backed drug running programs, etc.) to form a 'third echelon' per se, a deviation of the CIA/NSA/OPSEC groups and create 'super agents', like a true real-life sam fisher...

knowing that, is 'grey fox' truly one of the most secret? are you all that blind? if it was the 'most secret', why is it in our fingertips within seconds (google)? the government has power beyond belief, including on the net...now knowing that too is it safe to assume that the most secret groups are even anybody we know about? delta force, seals...we know about. black ops are frequent programs initiated by the US govt., but obviously nothing is ever publicized that can in anyway shape or form give any single detail to the public.

if this group truly does exist, i bet it is high up on the 'how special operationy are you' list of all the special operation groups (seals, df, recon, gb's, sas, etc)...but in no way the most secret.

Personally, I still love how the American's TOP units still rely on the good old british for help...
No one will ever surpass the SAS and SBS as the world's elite.
From what I have read (Not verified), but the Delta Force selection process is the equivilant of the british army training scheme....

The Delta initial course, although similar to UKSF, is ran in the wooded hillside Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia in quite cool periods of the year instead of the barren Brecon Beacons of Wales. Different speeds, different loads, different skill set (US focus on micronav) and it hard to compare the two in the initial 'selection' stages.

The reality of what Grey Fox is actually inst that exciting. The are a secretive, specialist communications unit that works in Tandem with Delta and the CIA's Special Activities Division (SAD) and where brought into play in actions such as the 'attempted apprehension' of Uday & Qusay Hussein as well as Abu Musab al-Zarqawi.

A simple Google of the Name Grey Fox grants you a wealth of information on the unit, while the modern evolution may be a cell of units , alot of the data accumulated directly to the group itself seems to point more toward and Op named "Gray Fox" and most likely by the way the just pop in and out are an international unit. there are specific hits referencing "Gray fox" back into the 90's.

Now the fact that you can dig anything up about this group/OP at all should signal that it is either A: Not a true Op and just a puppet screen or B: the op itself is used as a platform to create Havoc...uhhohhh the Boogy Men will get you..... Any real black bag wetwork organization is not going to be seen, that defeats the purpose of said unit.

I hope you have already looked this up yourself and found the same links I did, I really didnt want to link that many pages both Self publicating Bloggers or the occasional blip on major news wires. there are many of them....though no GOV sites could be found referencing any Unit or OP designated "Gray Fox"

Though Metal Gear 3 came up alot.....hmm US psy/ops recruiting game

yeah right.....

Nice to see people still contributing to the thread and a half years after I first posted it! Have to say when I first posted this there definitely was not a wealth of information available on the web about gray fox and or other units. I think as people may have mentioned previously the truly most secret units won`t have any publicity at all about them and I guess that is what makes them all the more intriguing. Nice to hear others opinions on this subject though.

With all due respect (since I have to show it ) I have never ever laughed so hard at a thread on this board/forum .So many ppl reaching ,grasping for straws ,and about issue's that doesn't concern them .
I do NOT understand that . I do understand the thirst for knowledge ,but sometimes it is better not to know things . Now this whole Grey Group thing is hilarious .
Let me explain something to yall ,(if it hasn't been already) there are handful of groups within the military that are trained above, and beyond regular Military forces .They sometimes work together ..got that ? (AND NO The Ranger Bn isn't included in that nor is the Air Force
unless they are needed in a SUPPORT ROLE )
For those that have a extreme desire for things that don't concern you ,I promise you 1000% without a shadow of a doubt ,You will NOT Find out info about anything on any internet site .Period end of story .
So your wasting your time trying to piece things together ,but if that is what you chose to do then happy hunting

I agree with you 100% I've been in the British army 7 years the last year special forces it's a need to know basis! Grey fox is most deffinitley not the most secretive unit in the world or American army for that matter there is units in the American and British armys I know that have not been mentioned one of them said units in my opinnion is on the top of the ladder when it comes to civillian knowledge of the unit never have I been asked a question about who they are even by my close friends or family yet they have asked about grey fox! Putting it simply the most secret units wil remain that way to civillians and most soldiers!

Are you really in/or have been exUKSF or is this just another BS post? I am sure that there are a lot of people out there that are posing as one thing whe the reality is that it is trash talk. If you are, what unit are/were you in?

It's hard to say who the "best" special forces/ops community in the world is because so little is known about a lot of them and because objectively it is hard to measure.

In my experience all of them have their share of outstanding individuals and it's stupid to wonder about who is cooler. This is "my dad can beat up your dad" type stuff. Really, if any unit/platoon/team/group completes the objectives they are given regularly, as effectively as possible with minimal loss of equipment, minimal expenditure of rounds, without being compromised and loss of life, is doing their job.

If you have a Reconnaissance Team that was trained and groomed to accomplish specific types of missions while simultaneously always being ready to accomplish ANY kind of mission (versatility) then it's hard to call some SEAL or SAS team 'better' than the Reconnaissance team just because the Seals and the SAS are way more famous.

I realise im new here so forgive me if iv missed the point but it seems to me that there are a lot of "misguided" people discussing things they really have no real knowledge of.
While it is only fair i recognise and support ones right to express their views in an open forum, it is alarming to see how lightly people seem to take posting sensitive information and images within this website.
From what i have seen up to now its relitivly harmless but i wonder how long before something posted here is misused?
There is generaly a reason for secrecy and it is to protect the idividuals you are so happy to blog about why do people feel the need to poke their noses into things that dont concern them, Wanna know about military secrets? join the military and then its your life at risk when some arm chair general starts posting your business online
