Fair enough, as long as you realize that just like Libs and Reps, not all religious people are "vocal and hard-core".

But I must say, I totally agree with the family values point, they should be making families the centerpoint again, rather than hoping different TV shows or any media is going to solve anything. Thats a point where all of western civilization has gone wrong, the "family way", the old "2 parents + children + love" equation, has been overlooked and at a grave price to our morals and sense of good and evil.

And Rren, you people use Jesus/God to say "He hates gays, evolution/science, blacks, liberals, PETA, and anyone else who doesn't worship Bush&Co

I'm a christian i don't hate gays, evolution, blacks, liberals or PETA and i don't worship Bush&CO. You're quite obviously a bigot and a little too hatefull for my taste.

SO why can you say Jesus hates these people but Rant can't? Is it because he is one of those Liberals Jesus hates?

I am a Christian and a liberal...and you're a tool. RANT can say whatever he pleases no skin of my nose, richard.

This is the point I'm trying to make. Genralization ISN'T okay just because it's being applied to christians. It's just as offensive to me and probably other God loving folk to be labeled Bush loving, republican, gay bashing, racist, or extremist. They are all labels that have never come near my soul, and never will. you don't label all muslims terrorists (unless your a gimp), you don't label all Americans idiots, you don't label all liberals communists (or you shouldn't), and you certainly shouldn't label those that believe in Jesus as anything other than that: someone who believes in Jesus.

Well said chebob and that's what i was trying to say, albeit not so eloquently, smacks of racism to me..your a Christian so you're obviously an ignoramous towing the neo-con line..et al Heck i like RANT he's a much better writer than most on ATS(myself most certainly included) and atleast he backs up his statements. I am entitled to disagree with his conclusions from time to time....i hope. Anyways chebob i'll slide my last W.A.T.S. vote your way.

(edit) Forgot to hit the button before i posted:
You have voted chebob for the Way Above Top Secret award. You have used all of your votes for this month.

What a bunch of liberal agenda ridden self-serving Mancow wannabe manure, if I have ever heard such on family values and what Jesus hates. Who the hell knows exactly what Jesus hates? How ludicrous.

And this is my point. The total corruption of a spiritual message for political purposes resulting in nothing but advocacy for the sake of advocacy is absolutely hollow and about as unChristian as one can get.

These are lobbyists, nothing more, seeking continued relevance in a world in which they've lost the plot entirely. Otherwise, why ignore blatant three way gay sex on TV (Fox even) every night of the week to go after "gay friendly" corporations and NASCAR in such a convoluted manner? Pun intended, but how gay is that?

I guess they think NASCAR might listen and give them a little good publicity in response. So they target it in God's name like the opportunistic vultures they really are. It's the same reason they hounded Disney for a year, but not any one of a million actual anti-family things (like poverty) they could have put a dent in. But this goes well beyond just a colossal waste of time on the part of the "movement;" it's a cynical, self serving, selective perception of endeavors obviously having nothing to do with family values or Christianity or what Jesus would hypothetically want.

Which, moving on, is why I write the way I do TC. Literalists may have trouble getting the message, but that's the problem with literalism, not the message.

Oh and Jesus called, He said stop following Him so closely or He's going to call the police.

Approx. 2.2 million versus almost half of all adults watch NASCAR.

Thats how many millions over that 2.2 million, RANT?
Ironic indeed, huh?

Anyhow, moving on, Jesus just called me, RANT. He was quite livid. He mentioned that you need to stop putting words into his mouth, as well as using his name to push your agendas.

And don't forget about that disgusting Internet-hotel-search commercial where the gays are actually making over each other right there on the TV looking for a hotel together! On a commercial! I don't even want to imagine what's going on in that hotel room!

What about the children!

Not news to me at all. But then again, I'm on NASCAR's side.

Not the fringes of society I'm mocking here by adopting their tone to show how foolish, hypocritical and corrupt these pervasive "family" movements really are. Do you think I picked NASCAR, Kraft and Matell to boycott here?

Anyhow, moving on, Jesus just called me, RANT. He was quite livid. He mentioned that you need to stop putting words into his mouth, as well as using his name to push your agendas.

And what would my agenda be? Exposing a political pastor's agenda certainly. Nothing else comes to mind though. Is that why you're so wedged out of sorts on this issue?

Not sure who to be mad at? The Christians attacking NASCAR or RANT showing how ridiculous that is? This isn't a target rich environment for you Seekerof, it's a mine field.

Do what I do when the party's over and you feel a splitting headache pulling you in two directions, take a powder.

I would just imagine their beef with NASCAR has something to do with the fact that some of the cars are sponsored by beer and liquor companies. That and the fact that those sponsors and the races themselves encourage alcohol consumption on Sunday ( for those races that are on Sunday ).

Or it might be that one Busch-class car that is sponsored by Beudreaux Butt Creme.......

That is true, but also we can say the same for Sunday football they also promote drinking but occurs we all know that even the president watch football. Right?

It's just so much hypocrisy is not funny.

While the Christan coalition condemn the these sinful actions and boycott promoters of friends of sin, Pat on the other hand own races horses, so I guess betting is more family orientated.

Is nothing more than a nice family day at the races track.

Who? Mike says that all the time! He is uh, different shall we say. I have no problem with him and he is hilarious with it. His dream is to move to San Fransico so he can be with his own kind, as he puts it. Anyways he calls anyone who has a problem with his life style Penis Sniffers. It's hilarious at school, teachers don't like the term at all. Got this little blonde cheerleader who is a die hard christian and Mike is always telling her "Go ahead, sniff my ****" when she goes on about how God hates his kind.

BTW, what's hyperbole?

Hyperbole is something that children use when they can't organize an intelligent, rational, and well thought out arguement.

It's an exaggerated figure of speech.

Your posts are filled with them, and your posts - as I've seen them - tend only to drag down the level of debate in the threads in which you participate.

First they came for woman's rights
and I did not speak out
because I was not a woman.
Then they came for the homosexuals
and I did not speak out
because I was not a homosexual.
Then they came for the liberals
and I did not speak out
because I was not a liberal.
Then they came for the Democrats
and I did not speak out
because I was not a Democrat.
Then they came for the moderates
and I did not speak out
because I was not a moderate.
Then they came for the RINOS
and I did not speak out
because I was a real Republican.

Then they came for NASCAR

and RANT spoke out

So let's get him too.

I'm torn. I can't decide what Jesus must dislike more: being worshipped like (or as) a god, or having his teachings twisted and used as justification for hatred and wars.

Please don't missunderstand, I'm very pro-NASCAR, (and somewhat pro-liquor and pro-RANT)......In fact I was kinda worried when I heard that George liked NASCAR, ( remember airforce 1 taking off at the end of one of the races?).......

I was going to races way back, and doing the infield camp out thing.....I never could see conservatives as real race fans, not like the ones I knew!

Can't forget that.
Having worked on the Winston account (back in the day), I'm familiar with the usual suspects competing for attention at these events.

Beer, Boobies, Tobacco, Pharmaceuticals, Presidents and Jesus.

RANT, what makes you think that Jesus hates NASCAR? First off, I do not believe that God or Jesus hates any sport. You might want to boycott NASCAR RANT and you can do so. As for me, I'm going to hold my ground being a life-long fan of the sport of automobile racing that I am. On a given fall Sunday, NASCAR hauls in more viewers than what the NFL does for their games. As for Robby Gordon, when he dropped the S Bomb on tv, he was just explaining how he doesn't like one particular driver in a short and somewhat sweet way. I do commen NASCAR on the penalty leveled against Mr. Gordon, because they realized that if they didn't curtail this, they were going to loose alot of their fanbase. Not only is the majority of the fanbase adults, but there are a lot of kids that either watch the race on tv or go to the race with their parents. Does that mean Jesus hates those kids and their parents for watching or going to a race RANT? I think NOT! Yes, NASCAR is a sport that is ACTUALLY based on family values. So what if half of the field is sponsored by an alcohol, tobacco or drug company? There are plenty of other cars out there that are sponsored by either phone comapnies, ALLTEL Wireless, companies such as Georgia Pacific, and Dewalt Tools. I will say this, the reason that an advertisement for The Passoin Of The Christ appeared on a few cars is because this is a sport based on family values. If you don't like the sport, then SWITCH SPORTS!

As for the NFL, that sport is a totally and completely different story. It is just about every single week that you hear of a player being suspended for abusing their substance abuse policy. Not only that, those guys don't even wait until they graduate college so they can have a CHANCE to play in the NFL. Even though a person gets "drafted" by a team, it doesn't necessarily mean that they are going to play in the fall. For crying out loud, those guys can't play if they have a bruise somewhere on their body! It is just ridiculous for what those guys miss a game for. Here's another thing, those guys get in trouble with the law, EX - West Virginian Randy "I hit a cop" Moss is a good example, it just saddens me that those guys have all that money and they whine about paying a 200 dollar parking ticket! Speaking of getting in trouble with the law, several Minnesota Vikings got in trouble last week for having a sex party on three yachts they rented out.The list of players involved include star Cornerback Fred Smoot and some others that were at the party. Even as close as the 1990s, if a coach or the owner found out that a player was doing stuff like that, they wouldn't be with that team for the following game. Being able to tell from what I've posted, it seems to me like NASCAR has the better family values.
