And for the 11,000+ deaths caused by the Heat wave...is that what happens when a civilisation is hit with an uncanny and very odd weather pattern caused by Global Warming?

It must have been the same pattern that gave the US two CAT 5 hurricanes in less than a month, with only about one-tenth the losses.

As per the thread topic. What's wrong with paying people to have kids? If the economy prevents them from having to raise them, and hardly an financial help, then that country will not have a sufficient nuber of people to employ in the next generations. It's a helpful incentive, IMHO.

I'll u2u you about the schools, I don't want the mods to lock this thread.

The problem I have with the government paying people to have kids is I do not believe it is right to take money from other people in order for someone else to have kids.

Frankly, I do not want to pay for anyones kids but my own (when I have them).

Why should 1 cent of my money go to someone else for their kid? I work and make money for ME, not for someone else. It is not the governments place to take from me (or you) to give to someone else.

So, if a child was lost, and you found him wandering the streets alone at night, would you not take him/her in, feed, and cloth him/her and try to contact her parents?

I think's it's the same principal. It's to help people out. Of course, it makes absolutly no sense here in America. But if a population is decreasing somewhere, and it was due to the average family just not being able to afford the costs of kids (which is getting worse and worse, IMO), why not help them out. After all, it isn't their fault they can't afford kids (as long sa they're not living way above their means), it's the governments (since I think France is socialist, but I may be wrong). And the people need to help each other out, even if it is by taxes.

If nobody helped anyone else, we'd still be living like animals. Actually, a lot of animals will help the others' young. I can see it from your political point of view, but I think it's a tad selfish in the personal respect.

And $600-$1200 isn't that much when you have kids. I doubt it even amounts to 1/10th of a penny from everyone's pay check. Although, maybe the western Governmetns should just fix this insane inflation boom. That would be help enough.
