Who is responsible for 9/11?

My theory is that it was a joint Mossad and US Gov. Operation designed to stir up anti-arab sentiment so the american people in a patriotic fervor supported whatever the president's agenda was.

Responsibility can be both direct or indirect.

While I find it hard to believe any full-blown secret 'american' plot to fly planes into their own buildings and kill their own country-men for some power-hungry agenda...I do find it plausible that someone, some group, angry enough at their perceived treatment by America would seek revenge and commit such an act.

Think about it...if you kick a dog enough times, one day it will very likely spin around and bite your leg off. Is your leg getting bitten off solely the dogs fault?

70% of Americans Believe Saddam was involved in the plot. Soon... 99% will believe Iran was involved.

For god's sake, I realise that there are a lot of people out there with a serious mistrust of Govt but to go ahead and blame them for the sept 11th tragedy is just too nuts.
Think about it, the amount of planning, secrecy etc would be just ridiculous in a Govt environment and the risks to the people involved would be huge.
Apart from that, just because someone may have wealth and a bit of power does not make the evil (it may help) with plans for world domination.

I realise that the concept that it may have just been a faction of middle eastern terrorists who don't like America might be a little hard to believe for some of you, but it is a lot more beleiveable than some DR Evil in the US govt.

The U.S. didn't plan it directly, but knew about it and allowed it to happen to further their goals.

The actual act of 9/11 was carried out by Al Qaida.

The conditions that created Al Qaida were brought about by the West and it's failiure with regard to Middle East policy.

Was carried out by a group masquerading as al-qaida,al qaida does not even exist in the way that people believe it does.
The attack could very well have been allowed to happen to get people to feel sorry for the bankers and corrupt , it worked in america,but the rest of the world didn't fall for it.
The whole thing was orchestrated as a distraction.

I think either they knew about it and didn't do anything or the people that work inside the govt aren't as good as we think they are. I heard that they use psychics. If this is true, then they aren't very good.

Maybe it is because of poor intelegence. Its kinda ironic how we are the worlds most powerful superpower and we have poor inteligence.

Intelligence was called off the cases of the flight school non-graduates who only wanted to learn to take off and steer, and not to land.

And the whole intelligence machinery, and inter-agency communications, were dismantled by Cheney soon after the incumbent administration stole power. A new department was put in place to gather and provide only intelligence that supported the PNAC agenda, instead.

It really says a lot when 35 votes are for the US govt/intelligence 'being responsible' for 9/11, as against 19 votes for OBL/other.

Maybe it's in the phrasing of the question, or maybe people here on the whole genuinely believe what the majority of the American public cannot yet face up to.

While I would love to place faith in polls on this website, the polls would not have the same results on other message boards that didn't cater to conspiracy. It is good to see that so many that come here think this though.

Certainly so. But I tend to assume that the general public is more naive to the actual happenings of the world. But then again I speak from our point of veiw.

MY OPINION IS THAT ANYONE WHO THINKS THAT THE US WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR 9/11 HAS TO BE CERTIFIABLE. I NORMALLY FIND CONSPIRACY THEORIES INTERESTING TO READ ABOUT, ALTHOUGH OBVIOUSLY UNTRUE, BUT THIS ONE TAKES THE CAKE AND I WOULD DESCRIBE ANYONE WHO BELIEVES THAT THE US IS RESPONSIBLE AS MENTALLY ILL. JUST MY 2 CENTS
