With the removal of the "applause" and "insider appreciation" attributes... comes... "Conspirator Status".

Soon, you will see a new status within your mini-profiles in each post. The new status is calculated based on your board activity. The more active you are (both in reading posts and posting responses) the better your status. Status points will be displayed so you can see where you stand.

Now... here's the fun part. Soon, there will be an "ATS STORE" where you can exchange status points for additional attributes. One of the first items available will be the ability to "buy" a custom user title, or an ats e-mail account. More items will become available for you to "buy" with your status points.

Also, the forum software will begin calculating personal moods much in the same way it calculates the mood for the board. Your personal mood will also be displayed in your mini-profile.

These new features will replace the three colored bars and will have a much more accurate bearing on your activity here on ats (the bars are, in reality, a somewhat arbitrary calculation based on total posts... nothing more).

Look for these new features soon. (the store will take some time)

Oh.. forgot to mention...

WARNINGS will still exist, but will no longer be visible to the board public. However, when warnings are applied, they inflict substantial numeric penalties on your status numbers.

INSIDER APPRECIATION also still exists and will not be visible to the board public, but instead, adds numeric benifits to your status numbers.

Also, members who win the Way Above aware will receive a HUGE alotment of status points... and any member that receives a Way Above vote, will also receive a stutus bonus.

So you get points for just being loged into the site?

.. and if you score 10 million in a week you get to be a mod!

Could this cause people to make more filler posts? Do you have a plan to get around people just wanting to get e-mail and such?

1. Are existing custom user statuses and email accounts to be withdrawn?

2. For people who are confessed 'non-conspirators', is the term 'Conspirator Status' going to suit them?

3. Will Warnings at least be advised to members as they receive them, so they can calculate their progress in the slippery slide out the back door?

I guess its pretty safe to assume that everyone is basically starting over as nOObs, errr, except mods, William?

Trust your skeptic overlord's statistical programming skills my kind board denizins!

But for more detail...

Simply reading a post will not alter your status (sorry my goof) but will effect your "personal mood"

Adding a post to chit chat adds a very minor amount to your status.

Posting to a forum such as NWO adds a larger amount to your status. If the post is off-topic and we have to remove it (because you're trying to spam your points) you loose twice the points you earned.

This is a modification (specific to how our board is used) that I've seen on some large boards which seem to be running with huge success. The "money" and "store" hacks are among the most popular downloads for XMB, VBulliten, and PHPnuke forums.

Nope, a very accurate calculation of your past activity will take place... this will be used to generate everyone's starting points.

No

We could call it something else... but the points will reflect overall activity on conspiracy topics.

3. Will Warnings at least be advised to members as they receive them, so they can calculate their progress in the slippery slide out the back door?
Yes... and soon, members will see their own warnings in addition to the staff's ability to see member warnings

Hmmmm. Not sure how this will go. I guess I'll have to wait and see. I'm not really one to participate in "things", really. I just post stuff and reply as I see fit.
I have to admit, I kind of like being able to enter my own mood, though. It sort of gives me a chance to be creative every once in awhile.

The biggest thing I've noticed that I've been wanting to ask about is, why can't we delete our own posts? Does this board have the option for members to delete their own posts only? I have several floating around here that need to be deleted. It sure would be nice to be able to do that, IMO.

But hey, I'm still new here, so pay no attention to my thinking aloud. If I'm overstepping my boundaries, I apologize in advance.

Satyr... former members have engaged in "drive by insults"... the posting of extremely abusive attacks... waiting until the target has seen the attack... then deleting their post.
