There is no proof as of yet that China has ANY workable nukes; if they test one, and it works, then I might give their threats credence. In that light, remember that is was ex-president pantload who sold our entire patent database to Chine, which includes 45 years of nuclear technology and delivery systems (oh yeah... also two Cray Supercomputers so they could "test" without actually doing one,) which is why Ron Brown was found dead from a plane crash.... with a 40 caliber bullet hole in his head.

What everyone needs to realize that the chinese government is seperate from the Chinese military. This could be a rogue general running his mouth or a slip in translation.

Also notice how he said "if the US moves it's nukes close to China". China would be reacting to a direct threat. China may not be a democracy but they are not stupid. They know what a nuclear skirmish would result in and they know they'd lose but at what cost even if they do win? This is just political games again.

I think its about time to invite this particular General for an all-expenses-paid tour of the country he is targeting. Give him a first hand look at all the innocent people who would be the victims of such an attack- and a look at some of the firepower that would be unleashed under the MAD doctrine if war did ever break out. Bush has sold somewhere close to $100 Billion in Weapons to Taiwan, and the Pentagon is advising the Taiwanese on how to pull a pre-emptive strike against China.

They are instigating a war. Basically America is to China what Al-Qaida is to America.

Excuse me but we're nothing like the Al-Queda. Selling weapons to a legitimite goverment is one thing, killing civilians by flying planes into buildings supposedly in the name of Allah is another thing. Taiwan is no threat to anybody, they're only concern is self defense so it doesn't matter if we sell stuff to them.

China has created the biggest target the world has ever seen in the Three Gorges Dam. Taking that out esp after its full would be devastating. perhaps this bit of comic book theatre is aimed at that possibility?

For gods sake, the kind of logic in this thread gets people killed.

The Chinese are merely echoing American policy, i.e. if ANYONE (including the Americans) attacks them they will retaliate with their nuclear weapons. The old doctrine of retaliating in kind i.e nukes for WMD's and conventional weapons for conventional weapons, was ripped up when the pentagon made it clear it would use nuclear weapons if conventionally attacked in the Pacific theatre. This was aimed at North Korea but China has interpreted it as a warning to China, and has merely stated it too will do the same.

According to the statement, nothing will happen UNLESS America provokes a nuclear confrontation by attacking China. Dont attack China and China will not nuke America, sounds fair to me? Stop being a damn bully of a country and your precious cities will be A-OK.
