I agree with you on so many levels spliff4020. I used to live in Germany, and thought it was great there. When I moved back to the states, I made it a goal to make it to Amsterdam one day. I think that smoking pot is a perfectly normal thing. It keeps me sane, and has not killed my brain. I have smoked for 12 years now, about 7 of which almost daily. My IQ has been tested at 137 (not trying to brag, just trying to prove a point). I work a full time job of almost 50 hours week. (which I am sober at) I've been with the same girl for six good years, and I have never been arrested. Pot doesn't ruin people's lives. Stupid people ruin lives. Stupid, dated laws ruin lives. I grew up in Montgomery Alabama, and in that state, everything is wrong or a sin. There is absolutely nothing for young people in that city to do, so that's where your crime comes from. I have never had to steal to support my recreational habit. I also enjoy art and music, not crime and gangs and $h!t like that. I think that if the law makers would let people enjoy their spare time, their own time in their own homes, then everyone could breath a little easier. Who are they to say what we can or can't do in our own homes on our own time? I have a family member who is currently going through numerous court dates for his sixth DUI charge, and he is facing a year in jail for this. And the worst part is, they sell that poison legally in damn near every gas station in the country. Why are bars legal when people drive to them? Same goes with liquor stores. Why shouldn't smoking pot be legal? You've got my vote if I can figure out how. Thank you

Well, good post, Venom....BTW...in my (and everyone elses) avatar there a button that says "way above" or "ignore"....like one of those and youve voted.....

But anyrate, I agree with ya. WHy shouldnt we be allowed by law to? The federal government has no business in this. THis should be a states choice. I think its the Dupont and Seagram families that prevent this from ever even getting a fair chance.

I dont expect congress to repeal any old laws, but they should give the states rights to govern themselves......

All I gotta say about this is the people who would reside in those towns or cities would bitch at city hall meetings, hell it's hard to add 3500 more houses in a town of 4000, people don't like change...

San Fran has the gayest city in the world, their mayor is gay, that took activism from that group of people, if prostitues and pimps all moved into a city or town and took over i'm sure they could get something like that going. But I don't think prostitutes and pimps want to be taxed, and own a liability like a building because that would money coming out of their pocket and i'm sure they aren't ready for that kind of responsibility.

they just want to do their thing and be left alone, underground. That way their identities can remain anonymous, they can keep their tax money, and travel wherever their johns maybe.

I'm sure there are many reasons, amsterdam is a very liberal city, those people get over taxed, even the ones who don't have anything to do with that specific area of interest/hobby.

People come to America for opportunity, they want to have a family, live in a peaceful healthy society, make their money, and just live a comfortable life.

Those who want to smoke ganja and participate in the hobby of 'escorting' should go to amsterdam.

thats the beauty about living in a free country, you can choose what you want to do with your life, but to impose your less then desireable interests upon the majority just can't be done.
pot, crack, coke, lsd used to be legal here... however when the country was becoming dependant upon those drugs and they became inebriated and unable to think clearly and be responsible and productive for their own good, they made it illegal.

I used to believe drugs should be legal as well as prostitution, sometimes I think it should be, sometimes i don't.. right now sure legalize prostitution, have the brothels like nevada has, drugs? dont think it's a good idea to make it legal because when they too become inebriated and unable to make healthy decisions for their own good taxpayers are going to have ot pick up the tab and take care of them because they didn't have self control.. An thats not fair to them.
