I have to second what Seekerof said.
I also was in the sandbox back in the 90's and since then I have a healthy / normal 13 yr old son and have not had any kind of sicknesses that radiation exposure would have caused.

Read closely...

DU is not bad by itself (well, a little bad)...
but it is when that round hits a hard targer and aerosolizes that it becomes dangerous...

breathing in that dust would be much like lead poisoning, except that the lead is also radioactive... WHICH IS BAD...VERY VERY BAD...
(BTW... lead and DU are about as far from each other as can be on the periodic, so they are nothing alike chemically)

so my advice to anyone who is exposed to the dust, is good luck... it is too late...
better to just avoid the dust altogether... (as suggested by your government)

and to the "survivor" thanks for serving... but dont go be macho and breath in some DU dust just to prove a point OK... you will prove the wrong point... and it will be bad...
