For starters, this wasnt an HONEST and uplifting speach given by BUSH,

Use your heads..
He's simply Reading what some scholar thought would be the best words thrown together to sway more gullable americans.

Wow Bush was sincere, and honest and allthis crap..
he was nothing, accept reading a piece of paper his cronnies gave to him.

He probably didnt even know a wordi n the speach until an hour before he read it..

its all a show...

The honest and sincere American President, is the one who gives speaches without having it written by some scholar...

He's telling you the truth when he has to pause, stutter, and rethink what he's saying because then he's telling you as it is in his mind..
not as he's trying to convince all your minds!

I heard parts of the speech. Due to it being unavoidable in the environment I was in at the time. Unsurprising, self-serving, and boring is all I can say about it.

Others have taken more interest into the speech than I have:

I've also read reports that what little applause to be had during the speech was forced by White House employees.

nothing new here,

same ole' Bush lying. The speech could easily describe his actions and the actions of his cronies... Bush is spreading terrorism, killing the innocent etc etc... as another said, full of disturbing contradictions and very very hypocritical.

I read somewhere that 60% of americans are now against the war... now are those 60% just against the war or do they realise that Bush is a liar and that the 'war on terror' is a lie?

You could have given a reason why you think this is so...

I'm so tired to see that to half of you call anyone who is slightly critical of Bush is to be called a "bush-basher" and to be considered a deadbeat hippie.... it's sickening, and soo friking easy. It's your obligation to be critical towards those who lead you, especialy if they are blatantl liars. I can't understand that people behind him like Dick Cheney are involved with stuff like this, and still be in office...without even one single charge against them.

then again....we "bushbashing hippies" are growning in numbers...

To me this speech is somewhat of a timestamp on his administration. It was overtly depressing and boring but not if you were actually listening to what Bush was saying. Besides the hypocritical garbage we all knew he was gonna say and all the contradictions and to say the least strange and disturbing parallels between the "terrorists" and the actions of his own administration he also used the much feared term "World War III".

He also said that service in the military is the greatest contribution a citizen can make. ARE YOU FREAKING SERIOUS? How about a teacher or a doctor or an occupation that does not require taking life at the orders of a politician thousands of miles away? We are being programmed and deceived into believing the lies. I know I'm making a big deal out of the term "World War III" because it should be made into a big deal. Every word that comes out of a President's mouth is and should be ridiculed and examined carefully.

Military Service = GREATEST CONTRIBUTION TO SOCIETY

Hear the words of Osama Bin Laden: "This Third World War is raging" in Iraq. "The whole world is watching this war." He says it will end in "victory and glory or misery and humiliation."

BUSH SAYS WAR ON TERROR WILL END IN VICTORY AND GLORY.

So let's add this up. He already is using the term World War III even though he is quoting Bin Laden. So now Iraq is in the very least the first stage in what the government is now referring to as World War III/War on Terror. I promise you guys that the term World War III was used strategically in that speech and it will not be the last time you hear such phrases. All this love for the military and such political shannigans is nothing more than a steaming pile of BS. Bush doesn't care for the military men and women.

"Military men are dumb, stupid animals to be used as pawns for foreign policy"- Henry Kissinger who was the right hand guy for Daddy Bush and the head of the 9/11 debacle with the families for junior. Bush himself avoided military service. But here he is pimping the military as the greatest role a citizen can play in society. Recruitment numbers are falling faster than the twin towers for God's sake and the government needs fresh bodies to supplant and replenish the existing "foreign policy pawns" already overseas dying for lies.

Why? Because the government has several wars lined up. World War III will be several conflicts all over the place. How much longer before Iran gets some sort of strike on its nuclear facilities? 3 months? 6 months? A year tops? How about Nuclear Korea? Kim keeps talking trash and we have an entire pacific naval division bored out of its mind. What else is in the area? Oh right, Taiwan is in the crosshairs of China and will most likely be reabsorbed within the next couple of years. And U.S. law states that we will defend Taiwan against Chinese aggression. How are we going to defend Taiwan if China attacked TOMMOROW?

If you think Japan or any other pacific ally will be of any real help other than strategic placement and tactical support behind an American military operation than your delusional. What about the Mid-East? Who will help us there? Israel will do no such thing unless they are already under attack which could very well happen. England? France? Germany? Europe is trying to create its own United States of Europe and will want to watch everyone weaken themselves in order to strengthen itself into a superpower which swoops in at the pivotal point and establishes the new status quo. Exact same strategy the U.S. employed at the start of World War II. We know the Russians will definetly not help us, if anything the Russians will impede our success by assisting the Iranians and other anti-US forces and I am of Russian descent speaking of such things.

This leaves the entire world in perpetual WORLD WAR. These are not merely fantasies concocted by me but actual foreign policy being implemented by the U.S. government.

Martial Law, Military Draft, World War III all these things sound impossible to the average laymen but this is exactly the direction the government is and WANTS to be heading in.

ASK YOURSELF THIS: What if a terrorist attack happened again in the U.S. on the magnitude not of a nuclear bomb or biological attack but an exact 9/11 copy. How about the Sears Tower goes down from terrorist bombs. Or the Golden Gate Bridge gets blown up? Millions do not have to die. Another sucker punch by the "terrorists" and think of the pandemic and call to arms this would cause.

The people would say NO MORE and demand justice at any cost and the government will gladly give them it. In this political climate and learning from the events of 9/11, the gov't or should I say FEMA will shut down the borders immediately, ground all flights and travel in and out of the U.S., declare MARTIAL LAW and the people will love it. Tanks and soliders in NYC, LA, CHICAGO, WASHINGTON and the people will applaud it. Then what happens? Well we have to find the terrorists. Searches of everyone's homes begins. You may laugh but will you protest when a group of marines armed to the teeth standing at your door with an order to search your house?

THE PEOPLE BECOME THE TERRORISTS. UNLESS YOU HAVE PROPER IDENTIFICATION. Hey while Martial Law is in effect how about we gather every able-bodied man 18-35 or whoever is fit enough to hold an automatic weapon and send them off to die. Oh you don't want to fight? Well you can't flee the country so how about we just execute you for being a terrorist?

The only decisions you may have in those days is either the lovely Uranium-filled deserts of Arabia or the lush and vibrant jungles of the Pacific where squadrons of planes are dropping tactical nuclear weapons to fend off millions if not billions of angry Asians.

So Yes, this speech was historic in my view for the long awaited start of FULL-SPECTRUM MILITARY DOMINANCE BY THE U.S. IN ORDER TO GOBBLE UP THE REMAINING CRUCIAL RESOURCES IN A DYING WORLD.

You say God Bless America, I say God HELP America.

Wow.. Diego Garcia. I've always been curious to see what that place is like. I have a fascination with remote military islands I think ever since reading "The Terminal Beach" by JG Ballard....

Have you heard the U.N.'s allegation about prisoners there? Wondering what you thought about that. Probably a stupid thing to ask, but I don't meet too many people who are in the BIOT

-koji K.

I asked around about the 'secret' prisoners that were here, and everyone said it was just a rumor. DG is a very small. I don't think you could do anything without somebody knowing. There's barely enough room for us, where would they put the prisoners? It's possible, I guess, but not very probable from what I've seen (been here for six months).

But that was one of the first questions I asked when I got here, too much ATS!

I actually supported the war initially...

I had faith that even though politicians lie, that we wouldn't base the premise of going to war on a lie.

We were told by the commander in chief, and his administration, that there was ample reason to believe Saddam was breaking his cease-fire agreements and continuing with his weapons programs. We believed him, or at least we wanted to.

The world community was also told this. They were (rightly so it appears) more skeptical.

However, once it was PROVEN (i.e. we didn't turn up such weapons) that this information was faulty (or that the administration had allowed Saddam to move the weapons, doesn't really matter which at this point)...the entire justification for the war went out the window, and it was shown to be an illegal action, and an illegal war.

While I support the troops wholeheartedly (indeed, I've contributed to, and helped (and still help) organize care packages, etc. for them), I do NOT support the current administration, or it's piss-poor handling of the problem. I only hope that before his term is up, we don't find ourselves full blown into WWIII (as he alluded). I fear that it is a high hope indeed though...for he's often likened himself to being on a mission from God and such zealots usually end up causing far more harm than good....

This criminal administration has been salivating since Bush took office in 2000 at setting up Military bases within Iraq. President Bush's "stay-the-course" commitment to the war in Iraq is nothing more than a reference to the Paul Wolfowitz NeoCon doctrine. It's pretty simple folks, Iraqi's are destine to achieve peace, however, not during a time of American occupation of their homeland.

Bush again raised the Sept 11 attacks as a justification for the protracted fight in Iraq after the president proclaimed he plans to keep U.S. forces there as long as necessary to ensure peace. We are the sole reason why Iraq is crumbling and terrorism is thriving within it's boarders.

There is no connection between 9/11 and the war in Iraq Stop buying into this crap already and come to the terms that America is/has engaged in War criminal activity. I support our Military forces, however, they're being directed/mislead into an unjustified War destroying lives and breeding more terrorism, more hatred to be focused on our homeland and the burden of our crimes that will be passed on to our children.

Bush/Osama are 100% completely right. This war on Terrorism will lead towards World War III and the ensuing highly proficized end of times, for all you religious followers out there with a taste of violence on your tongue, here's your wish coming true.

For those that see how the speech could actually be describing the administrations own actions; I invite you to look up old speeches with the same light you seen this one. If possible, you may want to look up his father's speeches as well. They have been telling us what's going on for years. They have been telling us what they are going to do.

"They hate your freedom". Yes, the current administration hates our freedoms and will use fear and terror to take those freedoms away from us. Which they have done and will continue to do.

I'm still wondering how "in-your-face" it all has to be before reality shines through the drugged up population.

Protecting us from WHAT?

If they want to protect our freedoms, they'd stay home and vote Bush out of office--and anyone else blind enough to go along with the Patriot Act!

None so blind as those who will not see, I guess....
