BTW, it seems to have very sloped armor compared to modern tanks. The russians have always been crazy about making their tanks either incredibly short and small targets or giving them very sloped forward glacis plates to improve deflection. If you look at the Leopard, it has a box of a turret, which is undoubtibly using composite armor, but still lacks the shape to bounce rounds off the armor.

the new Leopard 2a6 have the slanted armord in the front, maybe not the sides or back. just the same for the Abrams tank, these tanks are Cold War relices design against the Soviet tanks facing in the front. also the small size dont matter animore thanks to the accuracy of the fire control system that helps hit nearly 100% its like first shot first kill.

Its just another modern MBT. If you look at the basic designs, they all look the same. This is simply Russia's first attempt to break from the old, "round and low" turret design and create something that mimics western MBTs.

yea i was thinking about that the other day and i like it the round and low thing is getting old... but maybe its better for some reason

Yea the round and low turrent looks really ugly lol, about time russia make a cool looking tank lol. and it think the round turrent just make the tank hard to hit, but it doesn't matter anymore because modern weapons have good accuracy.

A good pic without mud and dirt blocking the shots of the tank. I've been curious bout how it looked, TY!!!
LOOKS SWEAT!!! Looks like the M1 Abrams has a competitor....finally. It's been so good 4 so long, but it might b beaten:
Good tank, but what if the Chinese, who's been obviously coping things, gets a hold of the design?
!!!

But anyways, the Russian Army and it's Tank Legends r back.

are u suuuuure? are u really suuuure? armor on present tanks are classified so u can never be sure which tank is the mostly heavily armored. could be the leopard, abrams or merkava, besides the challenger, and looking at their weight aint helping either.

It has second generation Chobham armour ,which provides increased resistance to penetration by anti-tank weapons

the T-95 with un-manned turrnet

On vehicle protection, there are two approaches. There are up-armour packages like the Kontakt-5 EDZ. This is the heaviest explosive reactive armour (ERA) currently installed and is often referred to as 2nd generation, heavy-duty, or integral ERA. Where the conventional ERAs are only capable of defeating shaped-charge jets, Kontakt-5 can also defeat APFSDS rounds. With a fitment of Kontakt-5, long-rod penetrators can lose over 30% of their penetration potential and the protected vehicle becomes virtually immune to them (at least as "immune" as a chobham armoured tank). This type of ERA can be easily recognised as it gives the vehicle outfitted with it a distinct 'clam-shell' appearance. So, how would the main gun on an Abrams do against that? Badly, I suspect. Certainly not the “one shot, one kill” ratio that the yanks were used to in the Gulf.
