What if we unveil something

Well in truth what are they going to do? If they do not comply with law enforcement, the powers that be will simply shut them down, or they can comply and stay open. So even if you got your classified stuff on here and they decided to let it stay up, it would only be up for as long as it took the government to get to the location of their server.

We may not agree with it, we may not like it, but they have their hands tied as well.

Even though I personally did not know the person that was banned she was warned not to put them up and decided to do it anyway. So she did what she felt her ethical duty was, and the site did what they had to do to remain open for business.

I wonder if she ever got a knock at her door from the long arm of the law?

I wonder if she's still alive even?

Why was she banned for posting this sensitive information? Shouldn't she just have been warned by a Mod? Unless it was copyright or infringment of ATS T&C?

If she posted pictures of another countrys "spies" in this country there should be no problem or if the protesters were really extremists and it was our "spies".

If the info was about UFO's free energy, anti-grav or cures for whatever, ATS should still give out that info to the people on this site who can make it happen! If they didn't it be like "the church" denying people solid proof that god exists because satan or the law told them not to.

Sure you could lose the site, but if something so big was found, it would be the final goal of this site to publish. ATS would be in history books even if it were closed and someone would form ATS-2.

People already know the government is full of secrets and lies.

They were undercover DEA (or the forign version of DEA) agents, and it is illegal to post their pictures to the net since it can jeopardize their lives in the field. She was asked by the administration here not to post the pic’s since one site had been already seized by the government over the pictures and she chose to do it anyway.

If I recall correctly the original thread was about a server being taken down by the government, and why. Nans somehow got a hold of the pictures that caused the site to be taken down and posted them here as well, which was not a smart move in any case. Now if I recall correctly the guys on that thread were discussing how they took out the server and that they did it fast and remotely. So again if that stuff had stayed on this site how long would it have been up for, minutes, hours at most. There was also a thread called “why was Nan’s banned” that was in RATS, it should still exist I believe if you want to look it up.

In defence of ATS they made their call to protect the forum, and if they had not how much difference would it have really made anyway. There was nothing inherently incriminating about the pictures, they were of guys video taping a protest, it's just who they worked for that made the difference. She could have chosen to simply describe what was in those pictures rather then post them and there would have been nothing to ban her for.

She posted pictures of undercover agents, which puts there lives in danger.....

she was lucky to get away with being banned, so could have gotten in serious trouble with the FBI,etc

Just wanted to add, that so far defcon5's remarks have been right on the money. (as far as I know)

And it was SEVERAL, not just one, site that got taken down by the feds over the pics, and this was well known to the poster.

I have a great deal of respect for Nans. I remember her back when she was struggling with her English, and was fortunate enough to watch her evolution. Her work on the Bilderbergs, etc. has been worthy of awards imho... She knew what the consequences would be, but she shared the info. She knew we'd have to do what we did to protect the site, but she got it out there anyways. All in all, had we not complied, we wouldn't be discussing this on this site right now.

I'd highly recommend a search of some of her past posts.

I do know that she was alive and well at least a few months after this, so I have no reason to suspect otherwise...

Damn. Well what happens if someone does find top secret stuff like what you said. We'd never be able to know, we'd just have to take their word for it.

You'd better get it while the getting is good, because if the govt says remove it or we're shutting you down....well, you'll know the answer...

BTW: I'd strongly recommend NOT storing such files on your hard drive, but removable storage instead. I'd further recommend a full format and reload after doing ANYTHING with said files on your PC (unless you're fully confident you can remove all the signs of it). That's IF you actually do come across such files, whether here or elsewhere...(or at the very least, change the filename...)

There are MANY ways to mess with someone without going the violent route. Mainly financial manipulation.

Best advice is this, certain things are a secret for a reason...

i wouldnt mess aroung with certain secret organizations though....

And don't forget, while RATS limits access to your topics and comments, it is by no means secret.

It keeps away prying eyes on the WWW, but anyone who is a member of ATS with the points to spend can be in RATS.

Not that I'm condoning people putting this site in jeopardy to share sensitive documents...

But what about a U2U? You have someone you REALLY want to show x y and z to...U2U it to them, or get their email...That way it's your ass on the line...

If you revealed secret documents from the Aurora project or someting like that all they have to do is change the name of the project for security reasons and deny that it was even a project just some odd out of the world hoax. Then when they release it, they release it as something with a different name and say it had no connection to the original. They've done it before they sure can do it again.

Yes, but (hypothetically) I have photos and videos, close ups, and schematics along with blue prints.

Ultimately ATS does what it's told just like everyone else.

If something truly confidential was posted, and the MIBs spotted it, they would close the website until it was cleaned up and probably have the member kicked out (only to have them join under a different name).

They let us play in our little sandbox until we dig something up.
