The belief that any truly secret society would have any kind of global power is absurd, to say the least. There is no way to carry global power, to truly have clout and to have the ability to carry out an agenda, without having any kind of visible and recognizable presence in the political and economic arena.

This is why I continually insist that the Illuminati does not exist. It is impossible for a group to have supposedly been around for so long and to have so much power among so many different things WITHOUT LEAVING ANY TRACE OF EXISTENCE!!! It's just completely unlikely.

So to answer your question, I do not believe that there are any TRUE secret societies with ANY kind of global power.

the order of the illuminati,
no one knows a 100% if they still exists. All we know that in the late 1800s they were driven underground by the church. Thats all we know about them

Yes there is,
if you have infiltrated every sector of society and basically control everything, you can make yourself disappear. Thats the illuminati has believed to have done

They were not driven underground by the church. You've been reading too many Dan Brown novels. The Illuminati fell apart due to internal fighting and bickering. It is true that they messed with the governments of Europe and paid a price for that, but they fell apart due to internal disagreements.

And they were never a true secret society to begin with.

No you can't. I don't care what kind of fantasies your imagination allows you to conjure up, here in the real world it is IMPOSSIBLE to exist without leaving any kind of a trace.

Furthermore, no society can exist and involve so many people without at least a handful of former members coming out against the society for whatever reason. And don't say that the Illuminati silences them because NO ORGANIZATION is 100% flawless in the execution of conspiracies all the time. Mistakes get made and objectives are not always met.

The XVIIIth Airborne Corps.

Beyond them, I'd definitely say the The ILLUMINATI

They're the creeps who keep producing and giving us freaks like Britney Spears and Michael Jackson.

How does anyone know if the Illuminati exists or not? You can't really see the invisible hand.

This is a dumb question the most secretive society, we don't even know of, and have never even heard of.
But one that has been "discoverd" I doubt a single one. The REAL Illuminati probably just put out that fake one so the church could feel that they ended them. Or something crazy like that

The question was pretty much unanswerable. It's almost like asking how many stars there are in the universe

Those who know won't say; and those who say don't know.

Those who say that secrets cant be kept in a group of people are either lying or trying to decieve you. Secrets are kept and kept well in any law enforcement agency on the planet. The Blue code of silence is real and it works. Sebatwerk Knows that secrets can be kept. It's human nature to keep secrets so you can feel superior to those around you. "I'm in the know therfore you aren't quite as hip as I am" Shame is a powerful motivating force to keep secrets. I'll admit Iv'e got some.

I've gottta say that Poster Infinite is well read in the 'mystery' surrounding the Illuminati and that he doesn't make his postition on it 'lightly' like a lot of people tend to. I, personally, think that they didn't exist before Weishaupt and that they were effectively destroyed as is generally understood. The fear of a group like the illuminati, a 'secret' society (secret insofar as membership isn't public and the group supposedly used symbolism and held closed meetings) that tries to advance a progressive secular agenda, has been around for ages tho, and the Illuminati themselves were an 'insidious' seeming group that can carry that shadow-conspiracy mantle nicely.

if a group cannot be demonstrated to exist then it serves no purpose to state that they do and its folly to think that we can actually know anything about them. If the Illuminati simply went underground, and have come to power but been able to absolutely control all real information about them, then, heck, by definition, everything anyone thinks that they know about them is completely wrong. If the group can't be shown to exist, then we can't really hypothesize about their actions and intents and involvement and the like.

Who are we to judge the existance of the Illuminati? Sure if you look at cold hard facts presented by researchers, it will tell you the society is long gone. But if we have a more open mind and start thinking theoretically then we can all come to the conclusion that it is a possibility the Illuminati may still exist. After all, it is secret. How are we supposed to know that there isn't a shadow government in play or not?

That's not very true. In EVERY group there is eventually SOMEONE who has a bone to pick or has been mistreated and will speak out agaist it. This has happened in EVERY secretive group in the world, even Freemasonry. Just because MOST members can keep a secret, doesn't mean they all can.

Secret conspiracies are short-lived and involve as few people aspossible. When a conspiracy is around long enough, or has more than a handful of participants, it becomes harder and harder to conceal your existence. Every person that is added to the conspiracy lessens the chances for secrecy and success.

And the fact that you think that certain groups keep secrets simply to feel superior shows how little you know about the groups you criticize. If you don't know what the secret they are keeping is, then you cannot possibly know their reason for keeping it.

And like Nygdan said, it is a folly to think that we can know the aims and intentions of a group that we can't even show to actually exist.

Some things are better kept secret.

But isn't there the slightest of possibilities that the Illuminati has these kinds of members. Ones who won't speak out against their Brothers?

Some people believe that the highest ranking persons in the Order of Freemasonry are what is known as the "Illuminati". If there is an Illuminati, they would be the most "enlightened" Masons.

The higher degree of Masonry one attains, the more severe the punnishment is said to come to one if they break from/ reveal secrets of the Order. Therefore, one can only assume that the secrets from enlightenment become more coveted; the highest ranking Masons are the most enlightened. I think that once one achieves the ultimate enlightenment, they get to know that the big secret is Freemasonry's goals are in line with globalization and coercion of world politics.

There is such a thing as "Illuminized" Freemasonry which was said to rise out of the French Revolution; the French Revolution was greatly influenced by Freemason lodges in France which had been infiltrated with Bavarian Illuminati - the last known "Illuminati". After the Revolution, the Illuminized Freemason lodges in France (and other countries of Europe) would continue to move west, eventually headquartering themselves in London, and henceforth colonizing the eastern seaboard of the U.S. (Virginia).

I would say that the most secret society is the secret society within the secret society of the Freemasons - the Illuminized Freemasons. These people are really nothing more than very wealthy European Americans who happen to controll the banking interests of the world. I'm not sure the status of Illuminized Freemasons existing in China, but I wouldn't be suprised.

Of course, to bluntly answer your question, the most secret society is the one that we don't even know of, or might not even care to.
