If Russia could put 'Rods from God' up there, or put lasers up there, they would.

they could attack us,because most of the places they can attack from wouldn't have much defenses and they could take over terrirtory quickly, and through force they could probably reach numerous places quickly, their combined resources are almost unlimited, because if all that happened the US would be in a siege..even if they couldn't come into the country and attack us with soldiers..
I don't think you get it. In real life, you don't just click a mouse to invade a nation. Moving an army requires a LOT of work.
The US - with the best logistical system the world has ever known - took MONTHS to buildup 200,000 troops in GWI. That was with the best logistical resources in the world, and several nations not only letting our troops gather there, but nations that actually already had US bases in them.
Russia and China together do not have CLOSE to the logistical system that the US military enjoys. On top of that, how in the world are they going to start moving an army across the Pacific ocean without us knowing? Don't you think the US, with hundreds of spy sats and unkown thousands of secret agents might know that all these troops were headed towards us? Don't you think the US would know if Russian and Chinese armys were building up in Canada or Mexico?

You are correct A.M.M.
The US wrote the book on logistics. Another factor is that of 300 million Americans about 100 million are rural, hunters, and armed to the teeth. The inner cities and their gangs would be enough to turn around an invasion, but the rest of the rural states would chew up any invasion into chaos, unless the invasion involved general extermination of the popluation, but then it would have gone nuclear long before that point so this is not a productive line of thought. Checkmate, on both sides, as usual with nuclear warfare. Also ignores any US Navy to stop/slow down/attrit an invasion, which it would in totality. Just one carrier battle group on each coast could do that.

As for Russia "achieving their goals", what goals are they? Russia has been behinf the US technologically for the last 50+ years. Yet somehow you infer that they are ahead of the US...

What a moronic idea. If they build them,
I hope the UFOs take them out.
Funny to see the look on their faces when 3 days after their new 20 billion dollar satellite gets into orbit the aliens grab it with a particle beam and smash it into the moon.

If that is true why then can't you put your own astronauts in space and return them home despite your technological and budget superiority?
And you want to build weapon platforms in space.

my dad said that the average for each home in the united states is like 2 guns per household true?

Russia whining because they'd like to get in a new arms race but can't afford it is pathetic. We will put weapons in space if it makes sense for us to do. There's nothing Russia would be able to do about it unless they want a full-on hot war with the United States.

you americans who are so americans that they think nothing can happen to you, look at the Cuban missle crisis, President kennedy had to go through all that trouble and take away the jupitar missles in Italy, and agree to many Soviet demands, so that Nuclear war won't break out. if the US go to space weapons, China, Russia, the EU, and even japan, would band together and put more weapons in space and go into a space arms race with the US, and the US economy would starve due to high space military budgets, and sooner or later the US would lose, and who knows, maybe go back to isolationism. or maybe the russians and the rest would go ahead and shoot the weapon down, it's not that hard, a little laser, a lense, a telescope, 10 people, and small facility, and bang! and don't think the russian economy can't handle it, as you can see all this would only cost a mere 50mil-100mil Dollars to finish and taht's not too hard.
don't be too arrogant, look at many of the nations that got arrogant, Germany in WWII+WWI, or Napoleon, i wouldn't say the USSR though, it didn't get arrogant, it starved it economy, and gorbachev made the mistake of going into political changes before letting the market get used to the new political systems, if gorbachev made the right choices, cooperation between russia and the USA would have led to many new and better things and a mcuh safer and much more peacefull world. even now that could happen, but the arroggant american populace is so dumb as not to look at the outcome of such cooperation. you see president bush I negotiated with the russians and made deals that said that the US and russia would cooperate, and that nobody lost, it was negotiations that agreed that the cold war was benefiting no one! but as soon as Clinton came by he slammed the deal in the wall and started dissing russia, and saying that USA won and the Russians lost, which didn't happen AT ALL!
so please American people open up that little watermelon you call your brain, and think, learn and then come and give me lessons. btw i'm not russian or Eastern bloc individual, i'm from Jordan.

He reminded that Russia paid off part of its debt to the Paris Club ($2bn) in 2005. At that time, she also paid in full to the International Monetary Fund. Nevertheless, there are still other debts to be paid, and the government should continue to consider early debt recovery to all creditors. Mr. Pekhtin maintains that early debt recovery does not induce inflation and undoubtedly increases the country’s investment attractiveness. The debts settlement allows both decreasing debts maintenance expenditures and exonerating future generations from the burden.
“After Russia settles accounts with the Paris Club, its foreign debt will decrease to about $50bn,” the MP said.
The Outstanding Public Debt as of 07 Jul 2006 at 08:32:36 AM GMT is:
8 TRILION 8 TRILION 8 TRILION 8TRILION!!!!!!
The estimated population of the United States is 299,054,232
so each citizen's share of this debt is $28,152.91.
The National Debt has continued to increase an average of
$1.74 billion per day since September 30, 2005!
Concerned? Then tell Congress and the White House!

Russia doesn't have 100 times more resources than the US. The US actually has a lot of resources (including oil), yet does not tap into barely at all. Why, I have no idea. Some say because of environmentalists. But I just don't know.
Second, just because the US has such a huge debt, does not mean we are POOR. I mean, if you went by that, we would be the poorest nation on earth, hehe. If our economy crashed the world's would be soon to follow.
Third, no Russia does not have "WAYYYYYY" more friends around than the US. They have China as a "friend". Well for now...And they have a few others. The US has more friends and is still more politically influential than Russia is. Just because citizens don't like what the US is doing, does not mean the US has no friends.
