briefly : there are yahoo rooms where child pornography is being traded freely. why are these rooms still present ? i say , restrict yahoo users to public rooms , so that the online stream of photos and videos gets crippled .. what do you think ?

I think that anyone trading in child pornography should be crippled.
That includes anyone who frequents the rooms/forums where this is happening.

Anything like this needs reporting to the relevant powers that be.
It is against the law, and people will be prosecuted who have any dealings with it. They can be traced very easily.

Yahoo does not allow paedophilia, due to the scale of the Yahoo! network it has become almost impossible to police manually and to automate it would cause many problems.

i still say they can control it by allowing only public yahoo rooms , and not user rooms . that way , no one would dare ask to trade , being afraid that they'll get caught ...

Can you actually back up the statement you made about pedophiles trading on Yahoo? Provide links etc?
I cannot find any sources that back this up.

Good point. I was asking for evidence that this goes on in Yahoo.
IE news items etc. Maybe i should have been more specific in my last post.

I have a yahoo ID, but i wont even try to search these rooms out. If you have come across any, then i suggest you report it to Yahoo.

You can do it from here.

isnt this one of the main reasons msn shut there chat rooms?

pedo shouldnt be croppled they should have their penis/vagina cut/sown up and left with sex starved prisoners then they will relise what it feels like

they know what's going on , it's no secret

I would have thought that if it was as rife as you suggest, then yahoo would have shut them down pronto.
MSN did, and they now use a pay system to use chat rooms.

yahoo is acting very strange, why won't it end pedophilia and gain money like msn did ?

Microsoft didn't need the money.
I think maybe it was under pressure to manage these so called chat rooms.
The only way it could do it was to close them down and make it a pay system. That way they can keep a track of who is using what rooms and who is creating rooms.

If this happening on Yahoo, then it will undoubtedly go down the same road as MSN.

Never heard of such a thing and rather then blaming Yahoo understand that anything can happen on the net & if it's illegal eventually they will be stung. If I had anything to do with Yahoo I think I'd be looking for your IP as well for spreading this type of bad publicity around. Another words it could cost you a wad of cash for running your mouth - you're clearly a fool.

Yahoo has many problems with their chat rooms. Problems such as booting, cracking, exploits, etc have been present on Yahoo for many years. There are dozens of sites that are dedicated to providing tools to boot, crack, exploit, etc. Those sites have visitors in the thousands daily. There are even programs that allow users to view a chat user's web cam without permission and without detection. Yahoo is not going to shut down the child porn rooms. As soon as they close one, another one will pop up. They will not restrict users from creating their own rooms, either. They would be flooded with complaints. The main problem with Yahoo Chat isn't the child porn rooms themselves, but rather the teen rooms where pedophiles prey on young children.

In my opinion, I do beleive that Yahoo should shoulder some responsibility for this occurance.. I mean, they are aware that it occurs and have not taken action fully to prevent it.. surely they are guilty by association due to providing a platform to allow this as do the ISP's of the people involved in this.. Metephorically speaking, I see it as allowing a house you own to be rented out to someone to commit illegal acts and knowingly being away of these acts but doing nothing to prevent it.
ALL forums will in the future have to be legally moderated by an individual who will undergo a criminal records check before being allowed into this position and be responsible for policing the threads and ensuring that communication is vetted, and responsible action taken. This will unfortunately make people feel the Big Brother Scenario is being taken a step further but to be honest, if it means that this kind of behaviour has a nail put in it's coffin then it would be worth it.. H3LL, if there was a choice between the internet being swtiched off and eradicating such activities then it would be adios muchachos to the internet without hesitation.

Bad things happen if good men do nothing to stop it....

I don't think Yahoo like paedophilia, but I think Yahoo wants to keep its customers, precisely by allowing private rooms, just think of all the MSN users must have soaked up after they closed the feature...

I do think that Yahoo should act more responsible by either more automated control?monitoring or, if this is too difficult, just drop the private rooms...
