Hi, each night of Hanukkah, we light candles in a menorah, lighting one candle the first night, two the second night, and so on, until all eight nights have concluded.

Every night we give a present or receive.

Hanukkah celebrates the "miracle of the oil," where a small amount of oil, only enough to light the Temple menorah for one day, it lasted eight days. This is why we have eight days of candles.

When I was younger my parents made it a bigger deal. My 16 year old understands but would rather be out with friends.

To me it’s a no pressure way of life!
