Being thirty five trillion in debt and losing on every trade deal out there Trump is coming out guns a blazin'. No more Mr. Nice guy, the US is reconfiguring deals and that is just the way it is. Trump doesn't have to use the military, the US's economic prowess will make it happen. Just like Trudeau in Canada, Panamanian President José Raúl Mulino will fall in line. The US has manufactured coup's for less. Hell, China is about to get a reality check so Panama needs to stop pretending, nobody is coming to your rescue President José Raúl Mulino. What choice does Panama have? With Trump we will all learn about the many countries who profit off of the US economy and if they are ripping off the US economy then it needs to stop. Seems resonable to me.

It was likewise not given for Panama to charge the United States, its Navy, and corporations, doing business within our Country, exorbitant prices and rates of passage. Our Navy and Commerce have been treated in a very unfair and injudicious way.

The fees being charged by Panama are ridiculous, especially knowing the extraordinary generosity that has been bestowed to Panama by the U.S. This complete “rip-off” of our Country will immediately stop….

Trump is recreating the American economy for the good of Americans

The Trump team can not get into office fast enough for me as everyday there is something the idiots in D.C. are doing to destroy the American dream if not America itself...

Who paid for the Panama canal to be made? It sure wasn't Panama. There were agreements made long ago, legal agreements. I suppose there may have been term limits on it, but I think it is wrong that that leader is not smart enough to figure out that this will hurt her country if greed on their part takes control. The whole world will fund groups to oust their governments corrupt leaders. Yes, a reasonable increase is acceptable, but evidently their rates are unreasonable now.

I do not know the whole story and I will admit that, but I do not have time to spend on this subject to uncover the whole story. Maybe the US government presently under Biden is not acting appropriately. Lets see if Trump can straighten this out in his next term.

FYI: The Trump Administration is already in charge of several aspects of our Federal Government. One example...

From 1,500 pages down to 118 was a remarkable, 90% plus downsizing of the Continuing Resolution budget.

This was a huge victory and a reveal of what leadership by DJT, “X”, Elon, Vivek, Bannon, and the American Citizens will look like.

Reading these legislative proposals is not that daunting with the descriptive table of contents up front. The table of contents clearly states the structure of the waste and inefficiency.

Vivek decided to do something rarely done; he picked up the package, read it entirely, and within minutes had a laundry list of exceptions.

And where was Biden in this whole dust-up? Busily signing the outcome shaped by Trump, Elon, Vivek, and the MAGA Posse – but I posit it might have been Biden’s Autopen doing the signing, so as not to wake Biden from his nap.

What is this Panama Canal? Do they mean the American Canal in Panama? Who built it after some failed start by France?

Hey, economically speaking, as long as it is cheaper for U.S. goods to pay for passage through the canal than it is to go around the Horn, that's fair capitalism. If the U.S. doesn't like the price, the Horn passage is still there. It hasn't been dammed up or anything.

A little History: Panama used to be part of Columbia. The U.S. engineered the independence of Panama from Columbia, and the dependence on the U.S. Teddy Roosevelt. Gunboat diplomacy.

On 2 November 1903, US warships blocked sea lanes against possible Colombian troop movements en route to put down the Panama rebellion. Panama declared independence on 3 November 1903. The United States quickly recognized the new nation.[32] This happened so quickly that by the time the Colombian government in Bogotá launched a response to the Panamanian uprising US troops had already entered the rebelling province. The Colombian troops dispatched to Panama were hastily assembled conscripts with little training. While these conscripts may have been able to defeat the Panamanian rebels, they would not have been able to defeat the US army troops that were supporting the Panamanian rebels. The reason an army of conscripts was sent was that it was the best response the Colombians could muster, as Colombia still was recovering from a civil war between Liberals and Conservatives from October 1899, to November 1902, known as the "Thousand Days War". The US was fully aware of these conditions and even incorporated them into the planning of the Panama intervention as the US acted as an arbitrator between the two sides. The peace treaty that ended the "Thousand Days War" was signed on the USS Wisconsin on 21 November 1902. While in port, the US also brought engineering teams to Panama with the peace delegation to begin planning the canal's construction before the US had even gained the rights to build the canal. All these factors would result in the Colombians being unable to put down the Panamanian rebellion and expel the United States troops occupying what today is the independent nation of Panama.[33]

We can make Panama the fifty-something state, build a superhighway connecting it to the 48, and make Mexico pay for it.

It already has a highway connecting Alaska to Argentina, the Pan-American Highway. It has a mushy part in the middle where it is in a swamp but it goes right through Panama.

Hey, Panama!

Remember December 20, 1989 ???????

It took exactly 1 month, 1 week and 4 days to take over your entire country and depose your entire government.

Don't think we won't do it again!!

You guys sound like a bunch of sycophantic Warhawks. Trump wants to bully Panama into better terms? If it was Biden doing this you'd be losing your collective minds. But since it's Trump. It's A OK.

It is actually a horrendous story of 25 to 30 thousand died building it. We also paid Panama so we could build it. The canal is in total disrepair, buildings are rotting with jungle overgrowth, and the economy is zero where before 1999 it was a thriving area all along the canal, as America brought in much of the needed economy to the area.

Trump has inside info that smells a hostile extortion takeover. He's exposing it and preparing the warnings! 😎

And Panama is corrupt and the money is being sifted.

Yes to everything you said here. When the largest and most desired market in the world is running trade deficits then things need to change. Trump has campaigned for over a year speaking to the corrupt people or stupid people running our economy and negotiating our trade deals. Trump has given example after example so this should not be a surprise to anyone. The days of the US getting ripped off need to stop and Trump is leading that by bringing it to our attention and making changes. The USA has the biggest and most powerful military and economy and what Trump is doing is showing all of us that the economy is a stronger weapon than our military.

Wanting your country to be self-sustaining and debt free is not being a war hawk, a dictator or any of the other spins they are using. Like Saying Musk is POTUS and Trump is his lap dog.

If the US today decided to stop funding and propping up these countries they would fail. Take away that 70 million which is pittance compared to Ukraine but stop it.

Not a dime of foreign assistance should be paid unless they are an active ally. Carter is at fault here. He should have never agreed to give it to Panama.

You and me both, I know us Trump supporters need to manage our expectations but it's hard to do...

Trump’s renewed interest in Greenland follows his recent demand for Panama to return control of the Panama Canal to the U.S., a proposition that has been firmly rejected by Panamanian President José Raúl Mulino.

On Saturday, Trump warned that the United States could seize back the Panama Canal unless the country agrees to lower its costs and counter Chinese influence.

America's golden era has begun

He knows now. He had to accept help in 2016. They tried soooo hard to get him to step aside and Pence was to run against HRC. There are great books about the campaign all the way up to the convention.

He HAD to take Pence or the GOP was going to drop him. He took a chance. He did the right thing and listened to those around him....he trusted and they f'd him. Big time.

This time is very very different which is why they are afraid. He has now had 8 years to figure out DC, who his allies are and what needs to be done.

The US government is so scared they tried to have him killed twice we know of. He is not supposed to be there and I am telling you the US is once again going to look like the US.

You're right, I'd be losing my sh!t if Biden was in charge of such an exercise! Why? Because I know for a fact he'd F**k it up royally from day #1. Just look at what happened in Asskrackistan...and that was a withdrawal (the opposite of a takeover).

Biden could f**k up a two-car funeral procession! I've always promised myself I wouldn't wish time away in my life, but I have to make an exception with Biden! I absolutely cannot wait for January 20th! I've never wanted January 20th to come around so badly in all my life!

Sorry. I forgot about the Pan-American Highway.

Shame on me! Just a few months ago I was conversing with a retired highway engineer who had visited Ecuador. She said that she didn't enjoy the trip much because the poor shape of the roads was so distracting to her.
