If you can't tell dodgy jokes, rib your mates and generally indulge in a bit of near the knuckle banter, what will these miserable bastards come for next?

I would not be surprised at some time in the future to be refused buying a bottle of wine (or two). "I'm sorry, sir, you have exceeded your weekly allowed alcohol units".

I think, back in the day, Cornish rebels marched on London with the promise that Essex would join them.

Then Essex were like, "Nah, jog on geezers, we can't be arsed".

Didn't end well for the Cornish.

Now then, GCHQ, I'd just like to make it clear that I utterly condemn any form of such rebellion.

I agree Carpy. If you can’t push your friends buttons from time to time in fellowship and expect some backin return well why even have friends at that point. Perhaps that’s the goal social isolation.

In substance recovery we are taught how dangerous personal and social isolation is on our well being and how important healthy social connections.

Socially isolated people are more vulnerable and easier to control. Its how cults work too.

# me....devastating.

I've spent most of my free time from about 16 years old in pubs. I've drank in them, worked on doors, behind the bar and even ran a couple of my own at one time.
The very essence of pub life and pub culture is about taking the piss out of yourself and each other, its about being as irreverent as possible about any given situation or event and venting steam at whichever set of incompetent twats are in charge of Westminster at any given time.

First of all I can't see this being enforceable and secondly I can't see people standing for this, its a step way too far.

FAO GCHQ he's lying and you should see his Abbot File too, when you drop in on the bloke!

I agree it’s a damn shame and in my opinion a directed attack on a part of British culture and heritage in that the public house or pub is meant to be a second home away from home that all can share in.

One should feel comfortable enough to express themselves truely in their house and if you can’t well that’s no home.

The most insidious part is it’s being done under the guise of protecting this safe social environment but the reality is the opposite

The way it will be done is they'll drive all the tenants out so its just managed houses, then they'll make sure its "Family friendly" with crappy little carveries and such like, then everyone will have to mind their P's and Q's cos of the children...

Traditionally public houses have been the meeting places at most protests, uprisings and even rebellions here in the UK.
From Bliar onwards every single administration has tried to damage the pub trade and its importance in British society.

Then it makes sense. A government crony must be installed to prevent people from coordinating.
