I used to sea fish on a boat off of the South West coast. One of my fellow fisherman went called Terry #wit after the unintelligent Viz character.

He caught a Sea Bream and set about bashing it repeatedly with the Priest. Skipper walked past. "What's up Terry? Not flat enough for ya"?

I did catch and release, with only the odd Sea Bass for the pot.

It isn't a hate crime. Not sure if it's even a crime.

Just stoopid?

If stupidity was a crime, I'd be in jail.

What a sad little man to attack a memorial like that, totally disrespectful. It's a shame we got rid of stocks.

What ever people's opinions on the continued fighting in the middle east, attacking any memorial including War memorials should have to spend a month in stocks as minimum punishment.

I have felt that device would be a good addition to some modern minor dickhead offenses if you will. I stop in on them at the Renaissance festival from year to year and take pictures in them. I like to imagine how sucky it would be to be locked into it for hours and hours, anyone just coming by and heckling you or slapping old produce on your head. And then I think how this is great punishment for young shoplifters not yet supplementing a substance abuse habit or public urination or something. It's not a bad idea.

He's a walking disaster with no credibility at all.

I thought it was impossible to top the dispassionate cold heartedness of Cameron, the clearly out of her depth and uncomfortable May, the bungling oafish incompetence of Johnson, the catastrophic Truss, the conceited arrogance of Sunak and their collective nefarious dealings but he seems to have managed quite easily.....and in almost record time.

If I could be bothered I'd despair, but as I can't I think I'll just have a bottle of Peroni and watch some # TV.

I felt like I had a stroke trying to understand this. I think part of the issue is the nautical terminology that I'm not familiar with, but part of the issue is the slang as well.

Guilty as charged. I took a ferry from Washington to Alaska years ago and my friend and I were hanging out with a random guy we met in the bar. He had just got a new cellphone and hadn't taken any pictures or videos. His first video on his new phone was me throwing up over the side of the ship due to sea sickness.

Sea sickness is horrible.

At Uni, me and some mates chartered a fishing trip out of Folkestone harbour. Skipper said it would be blowing a Force 8 and once out it would be hours before we could get back in the harbour as the tide was going out.

Looked out in the harbour which was calm so we thought he was a wuss. Went out and past the headland, never seen waves like it! Stuck there till the tide came back in. Couldn't see the horizon for the waves. Sick as a dog.

Spring tide meant had to use 2lb lead to hit bottom and then wouldn't hold.

Had massive bite. Convinced had a huge cod on. After two hours trying to get it on against the fast running tide and throwing up constantly it finally surfaced at the side of the boat.

It was a bloody plastic fertiliser bag.

Since then, have cancelled trips if forecast was force 4 or above.

Nightmare.

Skipper kept laughing at us.

The bastard.

That sounds an awful lot like my kind of luck!

When I lived in Alaska I lived about 500-800 feet from the ocean shore. I've seen the gale winds you're talking about and they are no joke. I used to love watching the ocean change when the gale winds would come in. It would change the whole color of the water into this ominous grey/black color. I remember seeing a lot of fishing boats over the years I lived there fighting like hell to make it through those waters. Can't imagine what that was like on the vessel itself. The worst I ever dealt with was on the ferry ride to Alaska in/around Queen Charlottes Sound on the marine highway. The tilt on the ship through some of it felt like the whole thing was going to topple over. I've had an immense amount of respect for sailors since I got to experience a modicum of what they must deal with.

I just don't understand how they can fit their massive balls on the ship alongside them.
