The memorial in Hove, near Brighton in East Sussex, was destroyed by the individual on Sunday on the eve of the first anniversary of the attack which killed 1200 Israelis.

The man, dressed in a beige tracksuit and cap, can be seen tossing flowers, cuddly toys and other objects - including a memorial plaque - into nearby bushes.

Police said they are aware of the incident - which they are now treating as a hate crime.

No suspects have yet been arrested.

What a complete and utter w@nker.

I mean strong feelings one way or another regarding what's going on in the Middle East.

Destroying memorials to dead victims of terrorist attacks is just wrong.

And on par with the muppets that disrespect the likes of the poppy or deface war memorials.

The fellow responsible wants to give his head a fecking wobble and then hang it in shame.

By the looks of it he has now been arrested, and a 37-year-old former soldier no less.

A mental health case if you ask me.

He should’ve just gone online and said how he felt.

Seems that’d do it.

Words have so much more weight than deeds nowadays.

So do you agree with the sad bastard's depraved actions?

Dont you think what he did is shameful, disrespectful, and full of malice?

Well, i would not go defacing memorials to victims of terrorist attacks as it goes down like a lead balloon and is likely to land you in stoor.

He was not being clever or smart SteamyAmerican.

He was just being a horrible arseh@le.

For whatever reasons, those will be his own.

What a sad little man to attack a memorial like that, totally disrespectful. It's a shame we got rid of stocks.

What ever people's opinions on the continued fighting in the middle east, attacking any memorial including War memorials should have to spend a month in stocks as minimum punishment.

Okay then.

I answered your question and agreed.

Why would you think what I said was he was clever or smart? Or anyone that does this for that matter?

I think you misunderstood.

I said what he is doing is not clever or smart.

Nor anything reminiscent of the sorts.

I was just pointing out the thing he did is just plain wrong.

Personally, i imagine idiots that do these sorts of things simply do so for sport.

I can't imagine what he hoped to achieve really.

Its just nonsensical.

He looks more Israel than Palestine. Did he see the IDF data that day?

He looks like a prize moron by my guess.

And that's operating along the premise that he can read.

What a complete twat.
He can disagree all he wants and think what he wants but destroying a memorial for terrorist victims is shameful. Sadly a reflection of far too many today.

What kind of animal, and a full grown man no less, walks through a park and decides to smash up memorials!

I mean what does he do for an encore kick over grave stones ffs!

Some people are just beyond me.

While I disagree with the categorisation of criminal acts as hate crimes...I hope he gets done up proper.

Disagree all you want but don't go round messing with memorials, there's just no excuse for it.

I'm not too big on the hate crime terminology myself.

Every crime that involves a measure of malice or violence is a hate crime.

But tagging on the word "hate" to such crimes simply diminishes others of a similar caliber.

As to what he chose to do, no excuse whatsoever, or if there is i would love to hear it.

And so will the Judge i should imagine.

What he did was totally wrong, and I hope he gets what he deserves.

But, here in the USA. When some teenage kid gets themselves killed behind the wheel. Up goes another roadside memorial. The road side memorials are becoming noise.

It's generally just flowers and teddy bears that get left here at the scene of tragic road accidents, maybe the odd plaque, or at least that my experience.

He though stuffed animals in the nearby bush? Hardly the image I imagined after reading the headline.

But do you know what the real travesty here is? That the person doing taking the video (nor the other bystanders) didn't confront this mentality challenged individual.

And the crime is a society that would likly punsh anyone intervening more so than the perpetrator.

He's smashing up a memorial through Dandandat3.

And like you suggest looks mentality challenged.

For all you know approaching him might not have been the best of ideas.

In this day of age he might just pull out a knife and go on a rampage.

Better just to film him for posterity/evidence and contact the authorities and let them do there job.

Plus if you give him a kicking(not that i dont think he did not deserve one), you're the one that would most likely be charged with assault.

Of course its not a 'hate crime' - that's stupid terminology for a plethora of real and imaginary crimes and is bandied about far too frequently......usually by those with an agenda to push.

If this had happened where I live and the guy was a local I suspect he'd be hunted down and the error of his ways pointed out to him.....alas its Brighton and they sort of see things quite differently down there.
