Why has NATO/EU advanced eastwards?

Because those countries wanted to be a part of those organisations.
They are independent countries and as such have the right to join whatever groups/alliances/organisations they wish to - their choice.

Russia has no right whatsoever to determine what choices other independent countries make.

This isn't the 19th Century when 'superpowers' met to decide how to divide up other countries - the world has moved on and rightly so.

And then you've got to ask yourself exactly why all those Soviet satellite countries and ex-Warsaw Pact nations want to join NATO and not have closer links to Russia.
Honestly, why do YOU think that is?

Russia has a long, long history of retreating in on itself when it has over-extended and things start going tits up.
They've done it several times before and they'll do it again when the true cost of this insane invasion hits home back in Russia and Putin falls from grace.

Flippin Germans invaded and killed masses, maybe 30 million Soviets alone. Germany is part of the West. Within living memory they killed half the population of our island. Now they place their Wehrmacht into the Baltic states oppositie St. Petersburg! At the same time Britain and the States gobble up eastern Europe placing it into the West's orbit. A massive campaign to undermine Russia's influence in its near abroad. From a Russian pespective the West is moving east again. It's obvious to a blind man.

If you can't see that the West takes some of the blame (initially and within living memory for killing tens of millions of Slavs during WW2 often in the most gruesome manner....

When and where did 'The West' kill "tens of millions of Slavs during WW2"?
What "gruesome manner".

And WWII isn't really living memory for the vast majority.....it ended 79 years ago.

Sorry mate but Russia invaded Ukraine, a non-threatening neighbour. A neighbour it had sworn to never invade and to respect its borders and independence.

And Russia is the only nation threatening to use nuclear weapons.
Doesn't matter which way anyone tries spin or sugarcoat it the reality is Russia is the aggressor.

And from the point of view of eastern European countries Russia is trying to re-establish the Soviet union that oppressed them for decades.

Only one side has actually done any invading.

Re-read your signature, it could be taken in two ways.

The first way, Putin witnessed the fall of the USSR and many believe that if he could, he would take back all the countries lost during the collapse, he sees it as a 'bad thing' and it's his 'duty' so damn the consequences.

The second way, Western civilization believes that Putin is a dictator (bad thing) and if he wins in Ukraine, it will the start of his goal to illegaly seize other countries, we have a right to prevent that and like WW1 and WW2 previously, it is our right to prevent it and damn the consequences.

If we believe a thing to be bad, and if we have a right to prevent it, it is our duty to prevent it and to damn the consequences.

Nazi Germany wasn't 'The West'.
And the Soviet Union was quite happy to buddy up to Nazi Germany until Hitler turned on them.

That was Nazi Germany, not the UK, not the USA, not France, not The Netherlands or Belgium. Not Norway.

You're trying to make out that Russia was the Knight in Shining Armour arriving at the last minute to save us all from Nazi domination in some sort of act of honour and chivalry and justice.

The truth is far, far from that.

And another consideration is the supplies The Allies provided Russia at great cost that enabled Russia to withstand the Nazi invasion without which Russia would never have been able to regroup, rearm, resist and repel them.

Don't be silly.
We love ya orb.....just strongly disagree with you on this subject.
It'd be boring and # if we all agreed with each other on everything.

ETA.
And I'm not brainwashed...I just have a different opinion to you.
Its actually quite arrogant to state that people are 'brainwashed' just because they see things differently.

It doesn't become you mate.....you are far, far better than that.

Ukraine however is in Europe, and now bordering, connected to, or very near, various other NATO nations.

And if it was ""easy peasy"" as you put it the situation would have been resolved by now.

I wonder what you would say if China decided to invade Australia and the likes of the USA/UK refused to help or lend you aid?

I also notion you seem to have chosen to disregard the question you were posed.

Let's try again, shall we?

do you imagine the West should simply have allowed Nazi Germany to perpetrate the likes of Operation Barbarossa unimpeded?

Because if Russia deserved our aid then so do the Ukrainians considering Mad Vlad is attempting to perpetrate Operation Barbariosa in reverse.

Iā€™m sure eggs is eggs. Firstly if left as a regional dispute it would have been resolved by now.

Secondly Wonder away homeboy šŸ‘

Thirdly what do Nazis have to do with nuclear doctrine?

Resolved as in Russia successfully invaded and occupied an independent democratic country?

Yep. Putin successfully invaded one sovereign country and nothing to stop him moving on to recreate his late (very much lamented by him and no one else) Soviet Union.

How sure and why, and please be specific?

Secondly Wonder away homeboy šŸ‘

If you say so, squirrel girl.

Still not any sort of answer to the questions you were posed.

So nothing new on that score.

Thirdly what do Nazis have to do with nuclear doctrine?

They were trying to develop a nuclear device the same as a few other nations, so there is that.

You were asked about China through, and if they decided to invade your nation, they may well employ the use of tactical nukes, or even a few city busters.

You dont know your arse from you're elbow homeboy.
