Protesters gather in the Loop for downtown march on eve of DNC
Protesters have gathered in downtown Chicago Sunday afternoon ahead of the Democratic National Convention.

The protest was set to begin at 5 p.m. near Michigan and Wacker. Chopper 7 was over the scene, and demonstrators could still be seen gathered at the intersection around 5:20 p.m.

The permitted protest will take demonstrators from Michigan to the Logan Statue by East 9th Street into Grant Park. The demonstration will be about 1.5 miles from their starting point.

The protest is called the March for Bodies Outside Unjust Laws. Demonstrators said they are protesting the Democratic Party's failure to live up to its rhetoric in favor of reproductive and LGBTQ rights. They plan to rally along with those calling for an end to the conflict in Gaza.

and they thought January 6th was bad....... That was nothing but hyperbole.

This on the other hand is Radical inner city Democrats fed up with their own party.

They have encouraged this kind of behavior and this kind of antisemitism.
Now it's going to bite them in the ass.

Saw a Harris bumper sticker earlier with another sticker next to it about “eracism” or something about race.

Pretty much propped up Harris/election based on race.

A group I've never heard of protesting that Democrats aren't doing enough for abortion and LBGQT rights. Anyone want to lay odds that this group is being sponsored by the Democratic Party?

Funny how no "grass roots" groups are forming to protest higher taxes, inflation, illegal immigration, or a myriad of other issues affecting much larger segments of the population. I guess they couldn't get approval for protest permits.

I wonder if any "got away" terrorists are grooming and training these idiots as this goes along. Most of these suckers would LOVE to have real fighters of the cause giving them tips and motivation to validate their delusions.

Yeah, I dont watch either, they put me to sleep, but this is supposedly a planned and approved march, with the Pro Pally crowd, a smattering of abortion rights activists, and LBGTQ protesters. Starting point right across the river from Trump Hotel

A pre-convention march will take place at 5 p.m. Sunday at the intersections of Michigan Avenue and Wacker Drive. The protest is being put on by Bodies Outside of Unjust Laws, a self-described "new coalition of feminist, LGBTQ and pro-Palestinian organizations."

The march will start with a rally in the street near the Chicago River before heading south down Michigan Avenue.

Among the demands of the march are:

National reproductive rights legislation
LGBTQ+ rights
An immediate and lasting ceasefire in Palestine
The U.S. to divest funds from Israel

Businesses in Downtown Chicago are now covered up in preparation for the next week Democratic National Convention. The owners believe any potential unrest can happen once the DNC come around here.

When Republicans were in Milwaukee, no business owner boarded up their buildings just because Republican voters don't steal.

Seem like the Harris honeymoon is over. How will her campaign deal with real life campaign issues rather than the manufacturered campaign they have been running so far?

Protesters paused to reconsider opposing Harris at the DNC. They decided on full steam ahead.

“We all came to a consensus that it’s not going to make a difference, that [Harris] represents this administration,” said Hatem Abudayyeh, chair of the U.S. Palestinian Community Network. “We’re going to stay full steam ahead.”

And he noted, his organization referred to Harris as “Killer Kamala” even before she topped the ticket and continues to push for harsher restrictions on the Israeli government, like an arms embargo — something that a top Harris adviser has said she doesn’t support.
