Since the democrats took charge, affordable day care has doubled in price. We take care of our great grandkids because it would cost sixteen hundred a month now for him to pay for him to pay for daycare for the two kids around here. That is a half of his paycheck after taxes and social security are taken out.

Healthcare costs have risen since the Democrats started gaining power, the daughters copay and copayments have gotten really high. Before Obama made changes, it was a lot better. Democrats sure did a good job at that, and on top of that well.

I saw more benefit to the working class when the Republicans ran the show over the last fifteen years. Not much of a GW Bush supporter though, he seemed to be too much under the control of oil companies due to his father's involvement with OPEC.

Just some observations from over the years...prices at the stores around here in the last month for groceries have been jumping up lately too, seems like trickle down economics is the cause, yet the farmers in this country are not getting any better off because their rising costs are eating up any gain. The comodities investors seem to be doing real well though, same with the people who trade in fuels. These investors are causing raising prices of things....the big investors, the guy with a little money can't make any money if they invest in it. The people involved crush the regular people.

I'd also like to weigh in on the agricultural side of this. Our feed prices doubled (now pushing triple) during covid and they've never come down, yet the price for beef (on our end, the seller's end) hasn't changed even $0.05 cents per pound. At the same time, prices for beef in the grocery stores has nearly tripled over the past (4) years. That money damn sure isn't coming to us, the producers. Before that beef prices had been stable for about (7) years (and yes, this even includes part of Obama's term...Biden is truly THAT BAD!).

There's no way any sane person could argue differently! Just no way!

I grew up on a farm, and have known many farmers over the years. I get along with farmers better than I do with politicians for sure. We are friends with the people we get our half cow from, their prices keep going up and up and so do the processing fees at the slaughterhouse. I do not blame these people, their costs are rising and equipment breaks down and needs fixing or replacing. There is a lot of cost in raising cattle and meat processing. I guess the cost of the wrapping paper went way up last year, and we know the owners of Rainbow Packing pretty well from having them process our beef for fifteen years now, the place we had that done for the ten to twelve years before them closed because of increasing expenses too. The woman who owns Rainbow packing kept saying she felt bad they had to raise prices again.


I would rather buy direct from the farmer and have the beef processed the way we want. The beef in the stores is flavorless these days, The wife and I have a gift certificate from Christmas from my brother for Texas Roadhouse for fifty bucks and we haven't desired to use it yet, that beef from slaughterhouses lacks taste these days. Most all the people around here who raise cattle sell the young to the slaughterhouses and grain feed them to get the best price for their cattle. Then the slaughter houses stick steroids on the beef and feed them lots of corn.

I'm kind of spoiled, that naturally aged grass fed beef tastes so much better, even if it is finished on some grains for a month it is good as long as it eats some grass too. We will keep buying all our beef locally from farmers as long as we can...but not if they feed them all corn, that has no flavor and you could probably use the manure to start a cornfield.

Yeah, all our stock is grass fed. We do add in some grain to finish them, but they're on grass during that time also. You may know this, but the reason many producers have to use steroids is mainly as antibiotics when they go to all corn feed. Cattle can't really digest pure corn feed, so they wind up with basically what amounts to dysentery and will lose weight not gain it. The steroids help prevent this. We don't ever take them off grass completely so don't have this problem, and only augment with grain to enhance the flavor of the finished product.

Thanks for keeping it local. It does help. We've been tapering down over the past couple years. We never really were in it for profit, but it has gotten to the point now where we're just losing too much money staying in the business, so we'll probably get out completely in the next 4.-5 years. Paying 2-3x more for feed, and not having stock prices go up accordingly is just not worth it. Someone's making a metric sh!t ton of money, but it damn sure ain't us (or anyone we know). We're doing all the work, and someone else is making all the money. Everyone in the area is feeling the same pressure. It's not sustainable anymore.

I used to buy all my beef from a ranch in the Paonia, CO area and they were grass fed and finished with grain. It was hands down the best beef around. I bought exclusively from them. …and always bought the Olathe corn from that region too, it was the best, I’m sure you’ve heard of it.

When it comes to "$7.50" childcare, I have a few questions.

Who pays the insurance for the childcare facility? Who pays for the building to house the children? Who pays for the employees? Employee benefits? What happens when a child gets hurt? Lawsuits?

You see where I'm going with this.

It seems to me there are lot of expenses associated with running such a facility. It also seems to me that many of these are the cause of federal, state, and local laws governing the running of such an enterprise. When this same government forces you to lower your fees, while at the same time increasing your liability and responsibility, the risk becomes greater than the reward.

So, when the government offers affordable daycare, it would seem that what they really mean is government run daycare, because they are the only ones who will be able to afford to run them.

You could easily argue that "affordable" was actually code for "government."

a daycare needs to be run by a licensed person. That person has to maintain the license in order for the business to remain open. So there is a lot of personal responsibility along with the other rigors of running a small business. I doubt anyone has any plan HOW to do this, other than they would like to use this as a campaign slogan.

Raising taxes on the rich is kind of a joke. They can afford to pay their CPA's rather than the tax man. They get all the loopholes, largely because they can afford to find them, and it must be cheaper to pay your guy, or they likely wouldn't do it. The Tax increase will come from the middle class as always. But if you can forget that factoid, it makes the next lie much more palatable.
