Showboating by China. Russia probably needs an entire brigade of military police to keep the Chinese and Belarussians from each other's throats.

Cheers

China knows where they stand with the US. When push comes to shove, I think China will get militarily involved in Russia's defense. They know if Russia is subdued they are next on the west's, US agenda for aggressive domination. They will not stand for US military aggression in their direction. I don't care how badly it affects them economically.

Yes, they are sending a message to the US and their NATO allies.

Spot on
and it's becoming full game on as the big powers move their pieces into position. The West / NATO/ EU has gone too far in creeping up on Beijing and Moscow's borders and near abroad. From their perspective the West really is out to get them. Add to this China needing Ukrainian industry to develop its military complex. Previous to the western sponsored illegal coup in 2014 Ukraine and the following colonisation, industrial links were developing between the two nations. It's not just Russia that needs control over Ukraine and its industrial base and knowledge, it's China too!

If China's economy crashes into free fall the last thing they will want to do is go to war with NATO or anyone who can actually fight.
They'd withdraw in on themselves as they always do.

If these Chinese forces were to make the slightest invasive step against Poland they would be annihilated in a relatively short time....NATO would have no option but to enact Article 5.

China doesn't want war with NATO.
NATO doesn't want war with China.

Its posturing for appearances sake.

Which Chinese borders have they/we been encroaching on?

Add to this China needing Ukrainian industry to develop its military complex

But its not China's to have.
One minute you're saying we have encroached on China's borders then next you are trying to justify and legitimise China taking control of an independent country that is literally thousands and thousands of miles away from them and their 'sphere of influence' and which it has no historical connections with at all.
Sorry mate.....but that is absolute bollocks.
And if that is true well quite frankly, # China - its not their's.

Previous to the western sponsored illegal coup in 2014 Ukraine and the following colonisation,.....

This bollocks...again?
The only thing illegal about all that was the massive big #ing backhander Yanukovych received off Putin to turn his back on the platform he was elected on in order to forge closer links to Russia instead of the mandated wish of the Ukrainian people for closer ties to The West as was their CHOICE as an independent nation - a nation whose sovereignty and independence Russia had sworn to respect and protect.

It's not just Russia that needs control over Ukraine and its industrial base and knowledge, it's China too!

Again, they can # off...its not their's.

Poland is like a little Texas. They wish someone would FAFO.

But yeah. China wants a seat at the big boy table. Let's see what they do.

The proxy war is leading to a direct conflict. The posturing results in escalation and the escalations result in more posturing. This cycle will continue until it isn't "posturing" anymore.

How many Chinese troops are there in these drills?

So Putin can stop all this in an instant by calling an immediate ceasefire and withdrawing his troops to the previous internationally recognised border.
Maybe then constructive peace talks can be held on an equal footing.

Or is that too easy and simple?

If I were Putin, that is the last thing that I would do right now (withdrawal of troops). Even a ceasefire would be counterproductive for Russia.

The Russians are winning the war of attrition, and all they must do is continue on the current path, especially now that they at least tacitly have Chinese support.

The Russians will get the entire Donbas one way or another ... it is just a matter of time.

actually the whole world should be concerned about this escalation. one for the simple fact china is conducting exercises with one of the biggest supporters of russia. which makes me think that for now china is kissing a little butt until the time is right to stab them in the back.

but if they don't russia, china, belarus, iran, north korea, chechiyna, syria, and who know who else are choosin up sides.
people can call it fear mongering all they want, facyt is it's not a good sign at all.

I think Xi should shock everyone, offer his troops to Zelensky to support the Ukraine war effort.
Russia craps its pants, all dreams of a Greater Russia extinguished.
China gets to 'help' in the re-building of Ukraine, regains Vladivostok etc and retains access to the all important Western markets.

Masterplan or what!

Lol, that was funny. Should forward it to him.

To be completely honest, I believe they are there as a psychological counter to a recent call to intercept Russian missiles from neighboring states. They of course happily agreed to call it a anti-terror interoperability exercise and drills. The question now is, will they show up in Transnistria next?? Armenia??? What would be your reaction to any of that?? Maybe Jim Risch is trying to say something here that should be obvious when money is spent to counter with kinetic means these moves of our rivals ...

that would be a horrifically dumb thing to do, especially since poland wouldnt invade unless belarus or china did something.

Which is then Article 5 and the end of europe, as much as despots want to retain power they want to stay alive.

It's posturing.
The message to US is over Taiwan.

Favors for Russia also serves by allying with China since a huge area of the western pacific would be one big "no trespassing zone" for the US. Despite our advanced drones ect...

YMMV
