Idaho Bar Declares June Heterosexual Awareness Month

An Idaho Bar has just thrown down the gauntlet in the Culture War.

It has declared June “Heterosexual Awesomeness Month” and is giving straight men free beers and discounts.

“Come join us all month to celebrate heterosexuals, for without them, none of us would be here!” Old State Saloon in the city of Eagle wrote in a Facebook post announcing a month of festivities and drink specials.

Every Monday in June will be “Hetero Male Monday,” with a free draft beer given to “any heterosexual male dressed like a heterosexual male,” the bar said.

The bar even put out a call seeking a “professional” judge qualified “to determine if men’s chosen clothing is officially heterosexual,” offering $15 per hour plus free beer as compensation to anyone who “think[s] you have what it takes to determine straight threads.”

Wednesdays will be for couples, where “each heterosexual couple” will receive 15% off their bill.

Oh my, I sure hope the owners of the bar don't have CCW's. That could turn out bad if someone tried to vandalize the bar and were shot in the face. Sure hope folks think that one through.

Honestly, that is a moronic thing to do. All they are doing , is fanning the flames.

I am not a supporter of the LGBT movement. I have said before, I don't care what others do, but pushing it down the publics throat is bs.

I said before, if your sexual orientation is your identity, you're pretty simple minded.

That goes for both sides of the debate.

Why not? Straight people should have the right to satirize our precious month of rainbows and not have to tiptoe on the grounds of tolerance. I'm all for being yourself, but it shouldn't be an untouchable sacred identity.

A local country station did their yearly festival the same day as our pride parade a few years back.




They only did it that way one year, not just because they got complaints for its date choice being bigoted (intended as an "alternative"), but for complaints from people (mostly women) that wanted to go to both and were forced to choose.

June is rainbows in public consciousness. I enjoy it and participate, but not everyone has to give a sh*t. This should be an acceptable non-bigoted thing to parody by now.

Unless the greater LGBT wants to forever remain on an off-limits pedestal getting likes and only likes for our uniqueness.

How do you make it an egalitarian non-issue if you keep yourself sacred and off limits?

For what it’s worth I don’t see it like that at all. I see it more as a parody of all the years the lbg community has been doing exactly that. I think most of us are sick n tired of identity politics 24/7 in our face. Sounds to me like the bar is just sending a message back. I doubt they’d be doing this if the lgb community would tone it down for once.

It happened after they'd closed and everybody had gone home. Everybody knows iberals only do sneak attacks.

A buddy of mine lives in Twin Falls, ID.

I was going to tell him to go there but I just checked the map, he’s like 140 miles away from Eagle, ID.

Too far to drive, even for free beer.
