I mean if we “vote with our dollars” online and at stores and restaurants, why would our entertainment be any different.

I know maybe comedians and musicians don’t have the tracking and polling potential of large corporations, but it shouldn’t be a big mystery to folks that saying things out loud may have an impact on the people that only like you for your talents and not necessarily your personal viewpoints of thoughts on politics.

Show BUSINESS is a business. You should run it like a business not your personal blog/soapbox. Quietly support what you want, and leave it out of your public image, unless you really feel the gamble will pay off.

People of both sides will appreciate you as an ESCAPE from such topics.

Musicians: too many to count. Swift, Sheeran, Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee, Josh Turner, to name a few. They're self made, intelligent and good music imho.

Directors: Bong Jo Hon, Tyler Perry, David Lietch

Authors: can't say, I haven't made time to read a good book in over 30 years.

Actors: Morgan Freeman, Jennifer Lawrence, Sigourney Weaver, Jonathan Rhys Meyers

Comedians: Dave Chappelle, Ricky Gervais

Movie entertainment is a supply and demand commodity. And Hollywood does a job on paving the demand as well as the supply.

Apologize for the delay. Spilled a little bit of life on myself and got distracted.

If you were correct that Hollywood paves the way then why are movies largely in the red from big production studios?

Making political positions and messaging through the art cuts deeper these days and as the narrative morphs or evolves, those above mentioned find themselves on the outs.

To put it another way, whatever talent may exists can easily be overlooked by algorithms and narratives.

He said:
"Let me respond to both you and the previous commenter at the same time. I am upset, really upset. Perhaps I am still living in the romantic 1980s. Unfortunately, I am not familiar with Bruce's current activities; he still exists in my romantic imagination. But the situation is changing rapidly. So many stars have crossed over to the dark side (from George Clooney to Angelina Jolie) that I am already tired of keeping track. Bruce was the embodiment of the American dream. I listened to that album 'Born in the USA' on my cassette player until it was worn out in the 1980s. Alas, degeneration."

Have to say I agree 100% with this one...

I was thinking about the Alvin Bragg indictment, the judge and how this lawfare played out with $200 miilion being added to Trump campaign coffers.
This verdict has given "Permission" to many, normally quiet or even bullied through professional or social peer pressure, the verdict has given these folks an opportunity to support Trump. My thinking is many people kinda sorta wanted to go for Trump and now have been gifted a reasonable justification to support Trump. That is what we are seeing with $$$ and a poll boost. The msm is going to have to work overtime to combat the mess that Alvin Bragg and the Biden administration concocted, it has backfired...Wiley E Coyote-Road Runner style.

The only thing I can give her a positive credit for is her double role in that one X-Files episode.

Everything else is completely unremarkable and not even remotely funny to me.

Just not the type of humor I want to waste my life paying attention to. Sorry not sorry.

But so have DeNiro, Cher and a few other actors/musicians who promised to leave the country when certain right-leaning things happened.

Last I checked, they didn't actually leave the country like they promised to.

Unfortunately.

Kid Rock wouldn't be relevant if it weren't for politics. Same for Ted Nugent

Ummm...actually...this only becomes an issue if you subscribe to the media...what I mean is...the media promotes issues such as this...because it sells...

It's only by manipulating the consumer with these wedge issues that these actors and singers have a voice through which to either enrage or empathize...

I admit I'm guilty of having allowed them to instill their narratives in my conscious/subconscious mind...and being swayed in the direction they indicated...

However...what does that say about us...the consumers...?

In essence...it signifies that individually and collectively we allow these manipulations to take place...whether through complacence or ignorance...we allow...we make a conscious/subconscious...choice...to be manipulated...

These are the chains that bind us to both complacency...and ignorance...that bind us to ideology and belief system...

The real core issue...however...is why...?

Why do we continually allow our impressionistic self...to be controlled in such a manner...what are the steps in an individual and collective sense that we need to urgently take in order to break free of that paradigm...?

Where is the benefit/reward to being programmed and controlled by market and political and corporate and religious... pernicious ideology...?

I'm kind of tired of being told by left...right...or center...who I should love or hate...when I should hate or love...why I should love or hate...

As a semi-mature soul...isn't it ultimately up to me...?

Aren't I the arbiter of my fate...?

Aren't I the captain of my course...?

Aren't we all...?

Both were quite relevant well before they went political.

Oddly enough, they got more popular for their political stance.

Wonder how that worked as a positive for them but a negative for the leftists?

Could it be that there are more than 71 million people in America that are tired of the left?

I don’t know how it is in America, but in Russia Bruce is still the personification of Freedom in the American way! I love Bruce!

Sad to report he apparently has always hated Christians and America in general. His Born in the USA song is about us being ass holes in his estimation. I only liked Pink Cadillac before. Never liked a thing else he and his E Street band played. HIs epic song he admits being a tramp from the get go.

we are all manipulated in some way. When I was younger, raising kids, I had two jobs, lots to do at home, and very little extra money to do anything, I didn't watch TV, and other than comedy radio in the morning, didn't get news or politics from anywhere. I didn't have a "political stance" or any worries of things. I wasn't in the military anymore and had no chance of being involved in war. I was blissfully ignorant and happy. I didn't worry about politics at all.

Now, I chose to be "informed" and find myself arguing about things I have no control over. Maybe I regressed, or maybe the system programmed me. But I changed, and can see many others here that have. I'd guess there was a catalyst that caused a lot of this. For me, it was seeing the corruption become a bit too real. I think I was happier before when I knew nothing. But I can't un-know things. At least not things I want to.

I'm with you. Getting so upset over someone's political leanings that you deprive yourself of art is wild. And just weak behavior. Oh no...guy who pretends to be a mobster is old and crazy, can't enjoy his work anymore!
