I think implementing the mic mute buttons is a great idea if the candidates cannot follow the simple rules of debate and act like gentlemen as opposed to kids in a school hallway.

The problem is that someone decides who is acting like a gentleman and who isn't.

Somehow anything Biden says is "presidential" and everything Trump said should be muted.

I'm pretty sure Trump even commented on it during one of the debates with Biden 4 years ago.

The last time Trump was POTUS they debated in 2020 he was not acting like a gentleman or anything reminiscent of such.

Screaming and shouting over others in a chaotic nature whilst frequently interrupting with personal attacks is simply not how normal people debate.

Imho anybody told to be quiet and let the host or others speak should be muted if they refuse to comply.

That way they simply look comical if they refuse to debate in good spirit.

Zients hasn't taken the Chief of Staff position yet. Most likely, it's Joe or Jill who does not want an audience. Distractions really screw Joe up badly.
