It accepts all regilions so is not a religious organisation.

It started out that way.

Boy Scout Pledge - On my honor I will do my best to do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law; to help other people at all times; to keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight.

And? Things change.
It's doesn't promote any specific religion so all its doing is excluding some kids based on their personal beliefs that are actually irrelevant to the scouts.

Who cares if there are kids excluded? Would you honestly want yourself or your kids to be a part of something that wants to exclude you or them?

I love my kids too much to ever put them into a forced situation like that and was taught at a young age, by loving parents, never to put myself into a situation like that. For some people these days, it's like their goal is to find a place they're not included.

I doubt many scout leaders or hardly any scouts care if a kid is religious or not. It was removed in UK with no issue at all.

It's a hang over from a previous era, much like the name.

Would you force yourself or your kids into something they're excluded from?

It's about stopping them being excluded. That's the point.

Everybody is overlooking the obvious.

The Boy Scouts lost somewhere in the vicinity of 60% of their membership during the Covid years for a variety of reasons. They are slowly trying to rebuild, but they probably need to attract more members of any kind in order to remain economically viable.

Exactly. If its a business would you want a name that excludes 50% of your potential customers?

If the other name means pushing away 75% of your customers, then yes.

I think boys that won't want to go because they changed the name are exactly the kids who need to spend more time with girls .

I also thing 0.75% caring is a more realistic guess.

Yeah, that way they can run away screaming when they see a bug just like the girls do. How snails shells and puppy dog tails of them.

Why have the courage to successfully defend your wife when you grow up when you can just outrun her.

I think you might be in that needs to spend more time with girls category as well.

But sure if that's what you think.

That sounds like completely the same thing. I also doubt that such things exist outwith the specialised movie market*

*If I turn out to be wrong and your plan works please start a thread with pictures (not selfies can live without that).

Good.

I don't think non-Americans quite understand the religious problem in the USA.

Agreed. Its something that people in alot of foreign countries really dont get, how heavy duty religion is in this country. I have friends from Norway, England, and Spain, and they really dont understand how much religion is in everything here, even where it doesnt belong, like government.

I honestly dont see what the big deal with the name change is. The Scouts seems fine to me. Thats usually what people say anyway when talking about their childhood. They will often say "I was in the scouts as a kid". No big whoop. Plenty of other things more worthwhile to be upset by.

I don't have any issue with girl only or boy only organisations. The BSA is already a mixed gender organisation hence the name change.

I also don't have an issue with religous based organisations that are for people of a religious belief.

However scouts isn't a religious based organisation, the BSA just excludes a single group based on their beliefs about religion. That isn't any different than excluding kids because they ate Catholic or Jewish.

Girls have been joining boy scout groups for decades. This isn't some new woke thing. Why are you so triggered by this all of a sudden?

Calm down this has nothing to do with a transgender agenda, or anti man agenda. If you don't want your hyper masculine boy going on camping trips with girls then don't make them participate.

You really never have been around girls, have you? Me and my friends played with bugs all the time as kids. We put them in our hair, and laughed when they crawled on us because it tickled. We used to catch some and keep as pets. Especially lightning bugs, ladybugs, potato bugs, daddy long legs, and the pretty black and yellow garden spiders. Id even catch earthworms and put them in my moms garden because they were good for it.

You really have no experience with girls if you think that outdated stereotype is real.

Which society is that?

They tend to rise and fall after all kind of like civilisations.

Either way, i dont think changing the name of the scouts will have much of an impact.

The Roman empire collapsed because they changed the name of the vestal virgins to vestal asexuals.

Actual fact.

The collapse of the Roman Empire was a complex process that unfolded over several centuries BedevereTheWise.

And as far as I'm aware there is no single event with a clear cause regarding the empire's tumble.

The empire suffered from political instability and administrative inefficiency then there were military pressures from within and without.

All sorts of different factors interacted with one another and built up over time to compound the situation which ultimately led to the collapse of the Roman Empire.

And history managed to record most of it because it did not all fall at once.
