New Russian superbomb FAB-3000: what it is intended for and what it is capable of

Recently, many Western media and military analysts reported with horror that it was the use by the Russians of high-precision aerial bombs FAB 500 and FAB 1500 that made it possible to simply sweep away all Ukrainian defensive structures and clear the path for the Russian army. These products are associated with the rapid liberation of Marinka and Avdeevka - super-fortified fortresses of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
With the help of Controlled Planning and Correction Modules (UMPC), these huge bombs, called “cast iron” in Russia, and which have been stored in huge quantities in storage warehouses since the Second World War, have become precision weapons against which there is no counteraction.

And recently, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced the start of mass production of FAB-3000 aerial bombs. Russian TV broadcast stories about Sergei Shoigu’s visit to a plant in the Nizhny Novgorod region, which began mass production of FAB 3000, which are equipped with UMPC modules.



Bombs with UMPC can be dropped from a great height - about 10 km, after which they fly over a long distance. About 50–60 km. At the same time, the bomb maneuvers and adjusts its flight. It is important that it is almost impossible to knock it down. Air bombs with UMPC make it possible to save Russian aircraft from enemy fire, because they simply do not enter the air defense zone.

The accuracy of such bombs is sufficient. Especially considering their destructive power. Even the 500 kg of explosives that the FAB-500 has is a lot. And FAB-3000 is six times more. One such bomb is a 100% defeat of the enemy. Destroying a target the size of a football field.

Moreover, the FAB-3000 is effective not only when working against ground targets, everything is clear here. But the FAB-3000 will strike with its deadly fist at underground and well-fortified targets such as Azovstal in Mariupol, Avdeevsky Coke Plant or deep-seated NATO command centers. Any enemy strongholds, deeply grounded fortified areas, headquarters and underground ammunition depots - all this will be destroyed by such a bomb.

Moreover, you need to understand that the capabilities of a bomb like the FAB-3000 are noticeably greater than those of missiles. After all, a rocket, for example the same Dagger, carries several hundred kilograms of explosives. And then there are three tons at once. Moreover, FAB-3000 is much cheaper than missiles.

Therefore, many military analysts in Russia are now saying that these products are being mass produced with the prospect of a convection war with the NATO army.

I would like to add that in Russia’s arsenal there are also such super-bombs as ODAB and FAB 6000 and the Tsar Bomb FAB 9000, which is 30 times more destructive than the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima. And also its modification ODAB - a volumetric detonating aerial bomb that is superior to any nuclear charge.

Just find it funny you have to brag about a bomb that would never make it anywhere of importance without the plane carrying it being shot down, or blown into a million pieces.

How is this, in any way, a warning? As stated, a plane coming from Russia carrying any ordinance will never make landfall anywhere of importance.

Sending troops into Ukraine and having their coffins return home en masse sounds a lot like what's been happening with Russia for the past two years.

That's a huge bomb which has the capacity to stop the deadlock if used properly. Russian tactics have been awful so far though.

There is no glide kit for FAB-3000 bomb . Su-34 cant carry it beause diameter/regulations . Tu-22 or Tu-95 could be used, but that would be risky , risky to loose them if Ukraine air def shoot them down .

It`s heavy, even if they can make some sort glide kit, it wont be very long glide .

If, God forbid there was a war, the Russian air force would be swept from the skies in short order so these bombs would be useless.

The bombs might be unstoppable, most are, but your air force is not.

You seem to be itching for a war with NATO.
