This will likely be lacking on the stars and flags.

It's of course, cut to make the rhetorical position, but so is all political commentary.

This will be angering for many, but I encourage a full watch, even if you disagree.

Here's a few selected quotes.

Trump quote - Very simply - if you rob a store, you can fully expect to be shot leaving that store.

What the f*ck are we doing?

You know I'm pretty sure that shooting a guy on suspicion of stealing a pair of khakis violates not only the constitution, but the 10 commandments, and the GAP employee handbook.

Look, if you want to, love Trump, love him. Go to the rallies, buy the sneakers.

You want to give him absolute power?
You want his to be the leader Uber alles?
You want him to have this right of Kings?

You do you, but stop framing it as patriotism. Because the one thing that cannot be said is Donald Trump is following the traditions of our founders. He is advocating for complete and total immunity. His words, not mine. That's monarchy sh*t. And that's your right to support it, but just do me a favor, next time you want to dress up at the rallies, for historical accuracy, wear the right f*cking colored coats!

This will all blend in as more mainstream crap, I won't get a gold star from anyone for posting this, but he perfectly encapsulates my fear of what the post GOP bloodbath Trump Party represents, and the worst case scenario it will transition into because it wasn't kept in check. Plus the ease at which Biden's RESOUNDING sh*ttiness can be exploited to that end.

It's getting harder to tell myself Trump says this crap to shake things up. Although he could have phrased "dozens of executive orders" differently than "dictator for a day," it's almost like I should believe it's not metaphorical, and he thinks he can be Putin.

The devil you know must apply all around.

Like Liz Cheney, I'm persona non grata sharing this opinion. But I like jumping into a shark tank covered in chum, so...

I'll withhold my initial responses and get vehemently disagreed with for a bit.

All I hear from Republicans is "immigrants, immigrants, immigrants".

And Republicans have done what so far?

Yup. Put it off till next year.

So please, stop with the fake outrage. DO SOMETHING, or it's time to shut up.

I think Trump's only real selling point is that he purports to hate much of what the average American hates about the Washington Machine.
Biden's only point is he is not Trump.

Seriously, there's what? 350 million people in America and the absolute best you can do is a ##ssy grabbing idiot and a senile one?
There's no one better? no one more honest? no one that cares a bit more?
Head for the hills in that case.

I'm so sorry I wasn't preoccupied with what you hear. I was more concerned with
a foreign agent being in the White House and doing everytrhing he can to destroy
the lives real of Americans and their country. And I doubt if I'm gonna be shutting
up about it any time soon either.

So sorry about you're luck.

I can totally get not liking Trump. But the whole, "he's a threat to our very existence", is idiotic hyperbole.

I think many don't fear Trump, as much as they fear a "successful Trump". If he fixes things, then it shows that they were broken on purpose and even the really, really slow folks will notice. If I was the group that did that, yea, I'd be scared sh!tless.

His facial expressions are priceless.

Sure it would be nice if we had someone other than Trump, but he's who we have right now.

So you have to ask yourself, do you want to let the current chaos, lawlessness, and actual authoritarian madness to continue. Do think they would tone down their drive into communism?

Or do you want order and a return to policies that made things better for every American by every available metric?

That's BS and you know it.

Democrats had complete control for 2 years and did nothing on immigration.

Biden has the power to close the border, he's just using this as an excuse because it's election time.

Republicans didn't pass the bill proposed by Democrats because it did basically nothing but funnel money to Ukraine.

118 billion dollars and only 20 billion of that was for the border.

Biden and the Democrats have failed this nation at every turn.

Chalk this one up to everybody gets offended by everything. As a television network comedian it's his job, more or less, to react to videos and make everybody across the ideological spectrum look equally stupid so everybody is equally insecure and defensive. Guess what? It's working.

Yea, it's an election year for Pete's sake. Now that the Democrats are finally willing to pass something, anything, on immigration in order to appease low information voters how dare the Republicans sit on their hands. It's a real shame... or is that "sham"?

This shooting shoplifters has come up time and time again and for the benefit of the posters I will tell you the game.
Crime, any crime, to be stopped or "controlled" must have primarily in the punishment a deterrent aspect, ie. making the criminal think about committing the crime for fear of the punishment. Ah I hear you say "the punishment must fit the crime". But that and that alone is the legal systems prerogative.
Now take shoplifting. Firstly the response to Trumps statement is disingenuous at best, Trump said "if you rob a store", that statement is a statement of guilt. He did rob a store not might or be on suspicion. Now everybody's disingenuousness, a shoplifter to be shot is over kill, the crime doesn't fit the punishment, so what is the appropriate punishment?
Major, major example:- You own a store and you have shoplifters targeting your store (I talk in multiples because I know and You know there is an epidemic of this crime), You catch one the punishment (even if it gets to the courts) a slap on the wrist. Time and time again the same lenient punishment, no deterrent for the criminal to stop. You complain to your law enforcement, your senator, to make the punishment fit the crime. But no nothing is done. After a period of being robbed you realise that only you can stop them, what can you do? All the softly softly methods have failed because to the criminal that's a walk in the park.
Now the biggie, what if that last criminal taking those khakis is going to be the last straw that closes your business? Yes, shoplifters should be shot for 2 reasons, 1. he wont be able to shoplift any more but more importantly 2. the deterrent affect, if you know there is a chance to be shot "legally" you would think twice about committing the crime.

It's odd how they continue to scream about Trump being a fascist dictator.

Meanwhile, the dems have weaponized the FBI, the DOJ, the IRS, and Big Tech. They're also trying to weaponize the banking system. They tried to launch the Disinformation Governance Board to censor speech they didn't approve of.

Oh yeah.... They're also arresting and jailing dissenters.

But Trump is a threat to democracy.

Divide and conquer baby, the modus operandi of "the ruler of this world" (John 12:31;14:30) and "god of this system of things" (2 Cor 4:4). Their commander-in-chief (of all polticians). How much longer will you bend over for them and him? (and continue to vote?)

Why Is Politics So Divisive?—What Does the Bible Say?

Political divisions plague nations worldwide. According to a 2022 Pew Research Center survey, “65% of adults across 19 surveyed countries say there are strong or very strong disagreements in their country between people who support different political parties.”

Have you noticed that the political divide is widening where you live? Why is that? Is there a solution? Consider what the Bible says.

Attitudes that divide

The Bible predicted that in our time, referred to as “the last days,” many people would have attitudes that make unity impossible to achieve.

“In the last days critical times hard to deal with will be here. For men will be lovers of themselves, . . . not open to any agreement.”—2 Timothy 3:1-3.

Despite the best efforts of many people, governments struggle to function effectively. People with opposing viewpoints find it difficult, even impossible, to work together to solve problems. The results confirm what the Bible stated a long time ago.

“Man has dominated man to his harm.”—Ecclesiastes 8:9.

However, the Bible points to the solution—a government led by someone who can eliminate the problems that plague society today.

A qualified leader who cares

The Bible identifies a leader who is uniquely qualified: Jesus Christ. Jesus has the power, the authority, and the desire to bring unity and peace to all mankind.

“In his days the righteous will flourish, and peace will abound.”—Psalm 72:7.

“All the nations will serve him.”—Psalm 72:11.

Jesus is an ideal leader because he cares about and wants to help people, especially those who have been treated unfairly.

“He will rescue the poor who cry for help, also the lowly one and whoever has no helper. He will have pity on the lowly and the poor, and the lives of the poor he will save. From oppression and from violence he will rescue them.”—Psalm 72:12-14.

If you're not going to click the link above, at least take a couple of minutes to consider the points made in this video (the 3rd one from the one linked above):

You don't have to be like these people, John 8:42-47:

Jesus said to them: “If God were your Father, you would love me, for I came from God and I am here. I have not come of my own initiative, but that One sent me. 43 Why do you not understand what I am saying? Because you cannot listen to* [Or “accept.”] my word. 44 You are from your father the Devil, and you wish to do the desires of your father. That one was a murderer when he began, and he did not stand fast in the truth, because truth is not in him. When he speaks the lie, he speaks according to his own disposition, because he is a liar and the father of the lie. 45 Because I, on the other hand, tell you the truth, you do not believe me. 46 Who of you convicts me of sin? If I speak truth, why is it that you do not believe me? 47 The one who is from God listens to the sayings of God. This is why you do not listen, because you are not from God.”

Matthew 13:13-15

That is why I speak to them by the use of illustrations; for looking, they look in vain, and hearing, they hear in vain, nor do they get the sense of it. 14 And the prophecy of Isaiah is being fulfilled in their case. It says: ‘You will indeed hear but by no means get the sense of it, and you will indeed look but by no means see. 15 For the heart of this people has grown unreceptive, and with their ears they have heard without response, and they have shut their eyes, so that they might never see with their eyes and hear with their ears and get the sense of it with their hearts and turn back and I heal them.’

“For there will be a period of time when they will not put up with the wholesome* [Or “healthful; beneficial.”] teaching, but according to their own desires, they will surround themselves with teachers to have their ears tickled.* [Or “to tell them what they want to hear.”] They will turn away from listening to the truth and give attention to false stories.” (2 Timothy 4:3,4)

“For though we walk in the flesh, we do not wage warfare* [“We do not wage warfare.” Lit., “we are not doing military service.” ...; Lat., non . . . mi·li·ta'mus.] according to what we are in the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not fleshly, but powerful by God for overturning strongly entrenched things. For we are overturning reasonings and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God;” (2 Cor 10:3-5)

“A careful review of all the information available goes to show that, until the time of Marcus Aurelius [121-180 C.E.], no Christian became a soldier; and no soldier, after becoming a Christian, remained in military service.” (The Rise of Christianity, by E. W. Barnes, 1947, p. 333) “It will be seen presently that the evidence for the existence of a single Christian soldier between 60 and about 165 A.D. is exceedingly slight; . . . up to the reign of Marcus Aurelius at least, no Christian would become a soldier after his baptism.” (The Early Church and the World, by C. J. Cadoux, 1955, pp. 275, 276) “In the second century, Christianity . . . had affirmed the incompatibility of military service with Christianity.” (A Short History of Rome, by G. Ferrero and C. Barbagallo, 1919, p. 382) “The behavior of the Christians was very different from that of the Romans. . . . Since Christ had preached peace, they refused to become soldiers.” (Our World Through the Ages, by N. Platt and M. J. Drummond, 1961, p. 125) “The first Christians thought it was wrong to fight, and would not serve in the army even when the Empire needed soldiers.” (The New World’s Foundations in the Old, by R. and W. M. West, 1929, p. 131) “The Christians . . . shrank from public office and military service.” (Editorial introduction to “Persecution of the Christians in Gaul, A.D. 177,” in The Great Events by Famous Historians, edited by R. Johnson, 1905, Vol. III, p. 246) “While they [the Christians] inculcated the maxims of passive obedience, they refused to take any active part in the civil administration or the military defence of the empire. . . . It was impossible that the Christians, without renouncing a more sacred duty, could assume the character of soldiers, of magistrates, or of princes.”—The Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire, by Edward Gibbon, Vol. I, p. 416.

You don't have to be like these people, John 8:42-47:

...

Or these, 2 Timothy 3:1-9:

But know this, that in the last days critical times hard to deal with will be here. For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, haughty, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, disloyal, having no natural affection, not open to any agreement, slanderers, without self-control, fierce, without love of goodness, betrayers, headstrong, puffed up with pride, lovers of pleasures rather than lovers of God, having an appearance of godliness but proving false to its power; and from these turn away. From among these arise men who slyly work their way into households and captivate weak women loaded down with sins, led by various desires, always learning and yet never able to come to an accurate knowledge of truth.

8 Now in the way that Janʹnes and Jamʹbres opposed Moses, so these also go on opposing the truth. Such men are completely corrupted in mind, disapproved as regards the faith. Nevertheless, they will make no further progress, for their folly will be very plain to all, as it was with those two men.

“And stop being molded by this system of things,* [ Or “this age.”] but be transformed by making your mind over, so that you may prove to yourselves the good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” (Romans 12:2)

“Do not treat prophecies with contempt. Make sure of all things; hold fast to what is fine.” (1 Thessalonians 5:20,21)

Such as this prophecy:

“In the days of those kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed. And this kingdom will not be passed on to any other people. It will crush and put an end to all these kingdoms, and it alone will stand forever.” (Dan 2:44)

What the hell are you talking about?

This thread is about The Daily Show monologue. Please take your bible-thumping, holy roller act somewhere else. Most of us here are sick of hearing it. And unfortunately you're not the only one that repeatedly does this.

ATS is or should be a proselytizing free zone. Opinions are fine. Facts are fine. Injecting religion into everything - not fine.

Carry on.

I agree 100%!! The JW cult has infested ATS with their prolixity and I go out of my way to avoid their threads; too bad they won't give the rest of us the same curtisy. It's like any thread on our current administration attracting the But Trump! crowd.

prolixity
noun
The quality or state of being prolix; great length; minute detail.
"prolixity in discourses and writings"
Long-windedness, an excess of words.
Boring verbosity.

I'll never understand the fear of some who seem to think Trump will be a dictator. It shows a total lack of understandin on the US political system and the checks and balances against such a thing happening-unless both parties allow it, like what we're seeing now.
