North Yorkshire Police said they received a call at 3.30pm on Thursday, March 7, reporting that a caravan had been stolen from a site near Thirsk, and was being towed away by a black BMW.

In a statement, the police said: "We were able to track the BMW, that was also using cloned registration plates, travelling south on the A1.

"45 minutes after the caravan was reported stolen, we stopped the vehicle on the M1 after it left the A1 at Hook Moor Interchange near Garforth."

Police added: "Nothing prepared us for finding the school boy sitting at the wheel.

"A search of the car also revealed equipment typically used by suspects to carry out thefts and a selection of vehicle registration plates."

Jeezo the little fellow is not even old enough to play or purchase "Grand Theft Auto" and he's out playing at it in reality at that age!

I've got an 11-year-old myself and the mind boggles really at the antics of the pint-sized amateur car thief.

Mindboggling isn't it , if I were the police I'd arrest his parents too so they can stand beside him in the Dock.

LoL

It sounds like fun and games mate.

But what happens when he decides to change lanes going full pelt, possibly loses control of the vehicle, plasters it all over the road and into other traffic, and ends up causing a massive pile-up?

I”m guessing he’s part of a larger operation. I wouldn’t be surprise me if they don’t figure out someone is manipulating and training children to steal cars. They don’t get charged as an adult, and in their minds they get street credibility.

Hes 11 all the same.

You would think the traffic cams mounted just about everywhere might be able to distinguish that by now.

Probably not all the same.

And I suppose you do get older-looking 11-year-olds.

But that still primary school age here in the UK.

As to him being charged well the age of criminal responsibility in England and Wales is 10 years old, depending on the crime.

I don't see him being prosecuted to the full extent of the law all the same unless there are other mitigating circumstances.

Which there may well be considering how well-equipped he seems to have been, might not have been his first rodeo.

Its funny but its also tragic, and could well have ended in such I suppose.

Guessing? That's a given. Average ordinary 11 year olds don't have a stockpile of license plates and the training to carjack as swiftly and efficiently as he did. You learn that stuff somewhere and that's the big story here. Follow the operation to the top.

I suppose if he is proficient enough to lift and tow away a caravan TzarChasm.

Lifting/cloning plates is apt to be well within his skill set.

Im apt to think you are correct all the same as to there being others involved.

It may have been interesting to follow the vehicle to whatever destination the little fellow had in mind.

I think you may have hit the nail on the head carpy2.

But I could not possibly comment.

That would have been the smart thing to do. But law enforcement and brains go together like steel toes and sphincters.

Let's just hope they can find a tag that fits the little gits ankle.

I think that might be a wise move on part of social work and the police.

This story rings a bell
www.coventrytelegraph.net...

I remember reading years ago that one crime family / gang were responsible for 20+ % of all the caravan crime in England and they were quickly shipped to the continent but getting cloned plates is not as easy as some think unless you own a machine or have someone in the business .

That kid has talent being able to tow a caravan at that age is impressive especially on a public road I am sure he had people trailing him watching what happened , That kid has been brought up around heavy machinary, tractors and lorrys he ain't no coucil house kid .

I was taking my grandads Hillman imp to school 3 miles away when I was 13 that was normal back then and when my aunts truck driving husband got ill one day I stunned him by driving the truck and trailer a few miles on a public road to his drop off point down in England BUT I was 13 then 11 is another kettle of fish .

His parents then the riot act read to them , I have a sister in that line of social work that would be perfect for that job
.

We are taking mum out for dinner tomorrow I will tell her she has a new case to deal with

At least that fellow from that article with the mars bar can grow a beard mate.

That wee chap knocked the caravan will be lucky if he has proper dan dubes yet.

Puts the little fellow in Robocop Two to shame now I come to think about it.

Just for reference to those that won't have seen one of those.

My grandpa had one in the 70s, right up until early 80s, an ancient old thing, that ended up with a hole in the floor you could see the road, and we called it the Flintstone mobile.

ffs flashbacks there too before i could nearly talk(I can taste beef crisps). LoL
