If you control what people say, you can control how people think.
Look at illegal aliens. . . to illegal migrants. . . to migrants. . . to newcomers. . . .
Bad example.
Aliens? Really?
It was the wrong word in the first place. Migrants is the correct one.

"Undocumented lawbreakers"?
Nope.
Illegal aliens.
Or, criminals if you prefer.
Illegal migrants you wanted to say.
And you need to be able to differentiate this from aliens and alien life in other planets.
and here you thought it was nill until the 90s
Babies were not cheap and baby selling proved to be such a lucrative business that New York City authorities uncovered a million-dollar adoption racket in 1959 that included loan sharking and gambling. The price of babies discussed during the Kefauver hearings ranged from $1,500 to $5,000 or more. The median family income in 1956 was $4,800; clearly the trade involved a wealthy clientele.
The expense reflected the many middlemen and women involved. Birth mothers received stipends, maternity home operators were reimbursed for room and board for the women waiting to give birth, doctors received money for the deliveries, lawyers got paid for arranging the adoptions, and sometimes judges received payoffs for approving the adoptions. In 1956 Kraft Television Theater, possibly inspired by the Kefauver hearings, aired the melodrama "Babies for Sale." One scene involved a bit of haggling between the prospective father and the baby broker, who says, "I understand you want our merchandise but you don't want to pay our price," and a few moments later, "I'm doing business in a seller's market." It was an accurate account. Of course, not all babies brought high prices. Buyers wanted healthy, white infants and they returned the ones discovered to be "defective" or of mixed-race.
Why does anything about sex and minors need to go immediately to pedophilia?

Language evolves and the word alien is used for different purposes in our times.
So logically it has to be replaced by the use migrant as alien usually and in most cases describes an extraterrestrial entity.
On ATS there is a whole section dedicated to:
ALIENS and UFOs
It's obvious to anyone it doesn't mean migrants and UFOs but extraterrestrials and UFOs.
Language evolves and this should be reflected everywhere including the law and other aspects of every day life.

Its first meaning is strange.... alien.
Its second meaning is foreign... alien.
As a Native American, if you live in America and are not Native American then you are technically an alien to me.
Not that I believe that... because that would be... stupid.
So for you to go out on a limb and just speak for everyone on the planet that the English word "alien" now means "extraterrestrial" because you watched the X Files is rather... stupid.

“The heaviest penalty for declining to rule is to be ruled by someone inferior to yourself.”. ― Plato,
From time to time we’ve been tempted to believe that society has become too complex to be managed by self-rule, that government by an elite group is superior to government for, by, and of the people. Well, if no one among us is capable of governing himself, then who among us has the capacity to govern someone else?
The federal government has only those powers delegated to it by the Constitution, and that all other powers not forbidden by the Constitution are reserved to each state, or to the People.
“One of the penalties of refusing to participate in politics is that you end up being governed by your inferiors.”
the term, "alien" isn't just a description of a person or entity, it's also a state of being. Something new you have never seen or experienced it "alien" to you.

I think the English language is highly abused in the American Law. Calling a migrant or foreigner as an alien is a testimony to this.
At least ATS got it right: Aliens and UFOs
I wonder whether the other English speaking countries (and there are many) around the world are using the term alien or other terms.

You are assuming that they are only banning smut.
Books like 1984 and To Kill a Mockingbird are on the banned list.
Give me a good reason as why books like that should be banned?
I doubt that you will.
In compliance with a new law, a school district in Iowa flagged hundreds of titles for removal from its libraries, the Des Moines Register reported last week.
The titles, ranging from “Ulysses” to “The Catcher in the Rye,” all contain descriptions of sex, something now prohibited by Iowa’s Senate File 496. Passed in May, the law requires teachers and administrators to review their libraries and classrooms for books depicting sex acts and bars them from making such purchases in the future.
At the Urbandale Community School District, which serves 4,000 students, this law made administrators flag 374 titles, some of which have been in the library for decades and haven’t been challenged in years.
These include children’s picture books that discuss gender identity and stories featuring gay characters. Ironically, George Orwell’s “1984,” a cautionary tale about censorship from a totalitarian government, also made the list.
