You actually think letting in up to 255,000 illegals a month is no big deal???

if they have the ability to just "shut down the border", why not do it now, just for a test run to prove they can do it.

They don't want to do that !!!!!!! 😀

I know. If they did, folks would wonder why this went on so long if there was a fix. But those who are cheering for this need to be put on the spot and explain how it works. Show me the border can be shut down and we can talk about the rest. Till then, it's a solid no.

Goes to what I'm saying. Pedo Joe won't use that $20 billion to secure the border. Rather than secure the border to reduce the legal caseload to manageable levels, he will use it to hire more immigration judges to more expediently process the unmanageable numbers. And the invasion will continue unabated.

Texas is doing it and it is working. The border crossings have moved out of Texas and into Arizona, New Mexico and California. Texas border crossings have been drastically reduced from thousands every day to a few hundreds every day.

253,000 a month is a lot, but, nowhere near the highest percentage of population to immigrate in our history.

I say they are still tempest tossed masses yearning to breath free. We could do 1.25 million a year in 1907 (Pop 89 million) That is like adding 5 million a year in today's percentages.

My family, well, 2 of 4 grandparents arrived between 1895 and 1905, without papers. Processed like in The Godfather II.

I just think the "American Dream" we built this country on stopped applying when the immigrants started speaking spanish, or began being used as political leverage by white nationalism.

the level of dumb here is off the charts.

Did your grandparents sneak across the border, or come through Ellis Island? there is a difference.

And if you don't want open borders, you are raycist. Such a sad pathetic post.

I edited it slightly, but I stand by that.

I mean, I have to now.

I'm sorry, I just like to take the advocate position in these threads, because I kinda enjoy when I'm one against all and getting spoken to in pejorative (mostly Youre an idiot) terms.

Like how other people pray and go to church for religious attainment, I like to take suicidal iconoclastic positions. But this IS BASED on how this crisis has affected my personal ability to thrive. And it hasn't.

Do I really care what people do with I feel is a hyperbolic problem? No. Close it, build a freaking 50 feet electrified fence if it makes you feel better. I thought this was actually a good bit of legislation, so why not defend it?

It won't effect me. It never has, and it never will..

I just have to freaking laugh, because I am closer to that border than almost all of you, live in a 50% bilingual city and have experienced ZERO hardship from from this migrant influx.

Do you earn your own money? Pay for your own goods and services? Pay into social security, medicade?

...pay taxes?

You need not answer any of these but if the answer is yes to any of them, then it surely effects you. You may have opinions and degree arguments but the fact remains.

New Senate Anti-Murder Bill Caps Murders At 5,000 Per Day

Feb 5, 2024 · BabylonBee.com
WASHINGTON, D.C. — In a landmark compromise between Democrats and Republicans, the Senate is set to vote on a new anti-murder bill that will limit the allowed murders to only 5,000 per day.

The bill will also send $60 billion to Ukraine, $15 billion to Israel, and another $100 billion to Iran.

"Democrats wanted more murder, and we wanted less. We feel this is a reasonable compromise," said Senator Mitch McConnell to reporters before staring blankly at the cameras for 10 minutes straight. "Every day once we hit 5,000 killings, that's it — no more killing! And we're gonna be strict about that."

"Just think of all the additional killings above 5,000 per day that will be prevented by this important legislation."

Some conservatives in Congress have challenged the language in the bill, suggesting that zero murders would be a preferable number. "I dunno, do we have to have murder at all?" said a confused Ted Cruz. "Like, murder is bad and stuff. Maybe zero would be a better number than 5,000." Cruz was quickly condemned by every journalist on the hit show Morning Joe as a shameful partisan.

At publishing time, senators had reassured their biggest pro-murder donors that the bill wouldn't solve anything.

I just don't see it.

None of my hardships are related to costly Central Americans and Mexicans (mostly).

My rent up because 1/5 of San Frasisco relocated here. Now we are the highest in the country. Thanks Giants amd 49ers fans.

But immigrants didn't do that. Homeless American drug addicts my state created did.

We already are a Socialist state, and I know I'm paying for them to have healthcare and be processed into this liberal utopia, but it doesn't bother me, because I get to live somewhere beautiful.

And nothing immigration related has made that harder. Covid/Russia/Biden inflation kinda made it harder, but gas is back down to 4.40, as are groceries.

That wasn't really Immigration related either though. Plus California is way more fair to you tax-wise if you are "low income", which is anywhere between 65k and 115k.

They make the one percent pay for undocumented Healthcare to a greater percentage than I.

I couldn't care less about all my millionaire neighbors capital gains considerations, unless they become mine.

Of things that might effect my prosperity this year, Immigration is low on the totem poll.

This is the year Crypto rebounds and goes crazy again, and that's where my age group's mind is.

I am in the land of crypto millionaires. And I laughed when they all invested at the beginning of covid and cashed out in November 2021. I said, "So your investing in penny stocks? Lol!"

If we are talking about things that have impacted me. I could have turned 5k into 1.5 million like others did.

And maybe if I wasn't so preoccupied with trying to maintain employment and pay rent, I wouldnt have missed a golden opportunity I was advised to do. The one I was advised to buy went from like .005 USD to 3 dollars a coin. And I passed. 500 dollars into 300k in the span of a pandemic, missed.

Elsewhere, my mind was also preoccupied during this time complaining about being a mask wearing slave lockdowns, and thinking it was a mass attempt to instill submission to the authority.

Because I don't think that will happen again.

Like I said, you can argue to what degree you were impacted and how you feel about it.

The point remains that you are affected. When you claim that the spending for things you don't care for are a problem but spending for something you do like isn't a problem, it's still the spending that's at the heart of it.

Every time the gov't borrows money (which is ANY spending done at this point) it makes your dollar that you earned less than what it is when you finally receive it.

Lol.

Okay, I'll give you that.

When California loses its 1% people to high taxes it can't blackmail with State Ex-Pat laws, it will crumble under its own over-spending.

This entire economy, is like China without the ponzi scheme, it needs a constant state of growth to turn a surplus and stay solvent. And people paying their taxes.

So when that comes crashing down I might start blaming the illegals for bankrupting the state treasury.

I'll be honest there. But I won't freak out until it happens.

Because Quality of life hasn't dropped and pay increases have kept up with inflation and rent increase.

I don't think anyone is claiming that this is an issue you must care about.

But to say you aren't effected is simply untrue.

IMO, it's a pretty big issue on multiple levels, from security to what and who we are as a nation to our spending and to our duty to our own citizens.

So what would be acceptable?

No money to Ukraine or Israel?
Money for the wall?
1000 a day threshhold?
Indefinite period to be deported?

It's not hardline enough, but 150k is way better to force executive action.

And you know more than 5000 cross a day, so if passed it forces almost an immediate border closure.

And they will continue what they do.

In our sector they don't try to elude capture anymore. They wait for BP to process them once in. They seek them out.

So while I get why this isn't enough, I think it is, because given up to 12k can cross Eagle Pass on its own, it's going to immediately force Biden to close the border for National Security reasons.

His border average well above that. 250k is his average.

I don't get why something that would IMMEDIATELY force action is getting blasted for an easily exceeded 5k threshhold, and money to our foreign proxy wars. Russia is against NATO, and Islam is against Israel. Both our concern, IMO.

It's more ratcheted up Trump isolationism. I love that Republicans want to drill and be American made, I understand the need for a closed border, I just don't like the level of bitterness that goes against a bill that is in the best interest of national security. It will ABSOLUTELY break the threshhold that makes Biden get off his ass and do something. That's good for those that want action.

But that doesnt remove my level of concern because indirect possible effects aren't enough for me. I don't experience or even observe these negative effects in my own environment. Which is my bias reason reason for thinking it's an overblown problem.

It feels again like the rhetoric is trying to manipulate me into seeing a chain of doom that will change my day to day life if I don't demand more get done to stop it.

I don't get the turn on the moderate republican, because that's me. And I'll never stop applauding someone like Kyrsten Sinema for switching to independent affiliation and crossing former party-lines to work with GOP members.

I fell like the center isn't welcome anymore, and it makes me take on these impossible (at least here) rhetorical positions.

I see this trashing of this Oklahoma GOP member as the way you get walked into dictatorship, like Cheney said, and once again I've picked the worst Republicans on Earth to side with here.

Acceptable to me would indeed not include other nations borders.

A rework of immigration with a fast tracked, fully vetted asylum process would be a good start.

Why not? I call it Ostrich Pragmatism.

Getting angry at problems that have yet to change my actions is not worth it. I'm not a high enough class to notice the differences of a republican tax plan, and experience almost zero variance in my life from one administration to another. Any administration. Got healthcare for one.

I think it is all an illusion under a like social control model that exalts two sides that disagree to maintain stability.

My dislike of Trump is how his existence feeds on the loss of cooperation to the point of fracturing that. He exists like troll thread. He exists on firey partisan difference and the conflating of arbitrary policy difference with good and evil.

He feeds on and exists from the things I consider most condusive to Fascism, like scapegoating. He then exalts the premise where you project criticism on the other side and turn politics into a battle of defence mechanisms.

It leads to his preffered sycophants, that replaced the former preferred sycophants (that turned on him), to automatically reject anything that isn't what their defacto GOD would do.

And when f*cking Caligula says jump his GOP puppets now say how high. So just rename the party after him because the GOP are now Trump cultists. And everyone who doesn't do what Trump would do is a snake. It bugs me.

I can't stop everyone from electing Caligula, and nothing will change for me during his second term, unless he goes after states rights, I just want it stated I think he's f*cking Caligula or a caricature of the literary antichrist.

I agree with Liz Cheney, I think he's walking America into a dictatorship under the self-perpetuated premise one already existed.

The greatest tricks and all. It makes want to throw up flags for it.
