Hope she wins or Trump makes her VP but I’m guessing that will be a certain Latina from Texas.

Has a formal investigation of (now former) Arizona GOP DeWit been launched? There's a lot of chatter about this incident all over the place, but nothing about an investigation. He knows other high-level crooks. Possible Pandora's box of crimes to be found if he is investigated by the right people.

I suppose this would need to be an investigation from FEDERAL authorities, since a top Arizona state official is subject of the investigation?

You'd expect Biden's DOJ to be all over this, because a Republican committed the alleged crime. But that's not going to happen unless there are MAGA Republicans in the web of crime. If its just old-time Republican and Democrat crooks involved, no serious investigation. Not this year.

The AZGOP Freedom Fest has been canceled in response to the current situation. This was supposed to be one of the party's major fundraising events that would've featured Trump as the keynote speaker.

I would suggest that conservatives in Arizona are better off not donating to the AZGOP, and can likely find far better organizations and causes to donate to and support.

I'm calling the AZGOP broken, and my guess is that it broke under the weight of so may RINOs and their fat pockets.

The more I think about it, paying out bribes as structured payments, is much smarter than a lump sum payment for several reasons.

1. The bribed party has an ongoing incentive to cooperate.

2. The crime of accepting the bribe is ongoing, which allows for the blackmailing of the bribed party to be ongoing as well.

3. Taxes are being paid on the bribe, so there is less incentive for investigations.

Besides someone being put on a payroll for the wrong reasons, can we think of any other ways a person can be bribed with structured payments?

How about a property being put into someone's name, and that someone being allowed to collect the rental payments? Once again, taxes would be being paid on the rental income, so it's almost as if the government is getting a cut of the action.

I guess that could be true, if it was something criminal, but what if it was just something scandalous and embarassing - is that still blackmail?

And if it was something criminal,. is it blackmail if the threat is made publicly? And if he resigned publicly, acknowledging why he was resigning?

If that is a crime, why isn't Kari being charged with the crime of blackmail?
